Producer Speaks

Matt Firor posts a little information once again. We wish all at Mythic a "Get Well Soon" since it seems that with having so many taking sick days now and then has meant that things don't arrive as planned. Here is what he had to say on the Camelot Herald today. We've had a busy week this week, and we're not yet done with Tuesday's live patch - expect to see more on Monday. In this note I'm going to address some general isses, as well as our changes to Stun/Mesmerize/Root. First, we've all had to keep our office doors closed this week to avoid the old man pushing the cart down the hall ringing the bell and saying "Bring Out Your Dead". On my last count, over 8 members of the dev team have missed time this week (some multiple days) - including myself - and this has had an impact on our development schedule. We apologize for the tardiness of the patches - expect to see a few more tidbits on Monday. If you haven't seen the 1.42 Test Release Notes yet, we made a major change to how mesmerize, stun, and root work. We've made them "no recast" spells. Initially, we tried to make these types of spells work work on a "diminishing return" system, where each time it was cast on a target, it had half the duration of effect. We never could get this balanced correctly (no matter what we tried, it ended up being too powerful), so in order to level out the playing field, we are changing ALL sleep spells to be "no recast" instead of diminishing returns based. This means that you can cast a mez/stun/root spell on an enemy 1 minute after their previous mez/stun/root has worn off. This effects ALL realms equally, because all of their sleep spells are using the new code. We know this is a big change, but test it on Pendragon, and hopefully this will even out the playing field. Also, even though the Release notes were a bit sketchy on this, we're going to eventually have more bounty items than we have now.
