This just in from Nathan Pearce over at EQLive:
    We are now offering The Trilogy bundle of EQ for free on EverQuest.com. This is a great opportunity for you to get friends to join you on your adventures. During the trial period, new players will be playing on the Morden Rasp server. As a veteran player, you could create a new character there and relive your early days in EQ alongside your friend.

It is a preferred server because it is the newest, therefore, rather than have a ton of people join the old ones and increase their population and load, they want new players to join morden rasp.

Why is it a "preferred" server? Is there something about it that makes it "special" Fewer players? More customer service? More spawning of mobs? More droppage of items? What?

I've never understood that from the beginning.

Ah, all the effort they're putting into EQ1, and with the expansions that aren't much more than $29.95 patches, they should be focusing their efforts to the upcoming product.

Why the hell would I want to start all over again on a different server just for that trial period because my friend has to start there ? And then what after the 30 days ? Leave new char on Morden Rasp or pay SOE to move that char to your original server ? What a dumb idea, let us get our friends to play on our server with the trial and not just Morden Rasp. Let them choose.
