Apparently some of the TLP kiddes were running a script duplicating plat, so an emergency downtime for a patch was required. Instead of just patching the 2 servers, they patched all so apparently it was reproduced on regular.

Then Holly made a post saying those caught using exploits will have their account(s) banned.

Blame the TLP folks if you want to blame someone...
Would be nice if downtime was less downtime

Sure it would be fantastic if there was less downtime. I'm referring to direct server downtime for maintenance, but also long periods of unplayability due to lag, crashes, bugs, etc. But you know what? Its bound to happen. And when new devs come in, its bound to be worse than before. Also know what? You can vote with your wallet. I know the vast majority of those playing a 16 year old MMO won't though. No, what everyone is going to do is ***** and moan and take it and log back in when the issues are resolved. That is what happened here.

I have read many comments on the EQ forums and I find it insulting to my intelligence that people complain that they need to be compensated for the small amount of down time Daybreak does to the servers.

GET OVER IT!! Servers will have downtime!! It's not directed to YOU!!

I want down time during peak hours if it means an exploit is being fixed. I don't care if they do one at 6 am PDT each week, it means they are fixing and improving the game.

So get over yourself if you are one of the endless children that complains - "Oh my server is down what will I do." GET A LIFE!

Any non-gaming software company would be out of business with the amount of downtime and unscheduled maintenance that Daybreak does. Anything below 99% uptime is considered to be pathetic. Legitimate software companies strive for 99.9 or 99.99% uptime.

Yes, servers have downtime but most of that is scheduled during the least busy hours of usage. And just because you don't care when they take the servers down, does not mean that others are do not care and that they are entitled to their opinion.

Why don't you get off your throne and quit complaining about people's rights to complain when they are paying money for a service that is expected. Just because something is not a matter of live or death, does not mean people have to be all rosey about getting their Friday night plans changed at the last minute with no notice.

Clearly you have no life if you are taking the time to address people that you consider to have no life.

My post was directed at the ones who want compensation for the down time. Yes, Daybreak/SoE has a high down time rating. But, with software that is attacked by so many, they are doing the best they can. Daybreak suffers from DDoS attacks, Plat duping, and other attacks to cheat the game.

Daybreak does not sit around saying lets down the servers during prime time. That is only as a last resort. People who think that a game must always be up are deluding themselves. So to that I say GET A LIFE, they did NOT direct the down time at YOU. I don't like prime time down time but if an attack or exploit happens I understand. And to the point, Daybreak kept the down time small. (45 mins)

People do have the right to complain, but if what they are complaining about is to correct an exploit in the game then they should NOT expect a notice before that fix.

I do have a life BTW and I will continue to voice my distaste toward the "children" who complain, "oh boo hoo I can't play on Friday night due to exploits being fixed".

Why are you so sympathetic towards them? They are a business they arent your friend, they arent your family, they arent your co worker, they are a business you pay your hard earned money to.

They are not "doing the best they can". They goofed up by allowing people to transfer from zek back to RF/LJ because they "accidentally" did it without investigating further and seeing those players had 10 million plat they were bringing back. Oh and they were doing that because daybreak didnt think ahead of time like they should have when dealing with customers who pay them good money to think like that.

By the way, they knew about the exploit about 24 hours before the server was brought down. They were able to put an end to it immediately. They took the servers down to implement something that was not vital and they did a good job of doing it at midnight so i wouldnt complain about that because its not really peak time.

you are really downplaying the amount of downtime the game has. For you it may not be much, but for the person who gets a few hours a week to play and that few hours lands on downtime, its quite significant.
