CD Projekt Red Announces Two XPacks For Witcher 3

The game will be expanded with 30 more hours of content in fall 2015 and Q1 2016.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt may not grace your shelves quite yet, but that doesn't stop CD Projekt Red from ramping up the excitement by announcing two expansions for the game. Hearts of Stone, coming in October 2015, and Blood and Wine, due out the first quarter of 2016, will add a combined 30 hours of content to the already massive ARPG. An Expansion Pass is now available for purchase, by itself or bundled with a pre-purchase of the game.

“With the development of Wild Hunt coming to an end, the team has embarked upon the creation of two new really big adventures set in The Witcher universe,” says Marcin IwiÅ„ski, CD Projekt Red co-founder. “We remember the time when add-on disks truly expanded games by delivering meaningful content. As gamers, we’d like to bring that back. We’ve said in the past that if we ever decide to release paid content, it will be vast in size and represent real value for the money. Both our expansions offer more hours of gameplay than quite a few standalone games out there.”

Hearts of Stone will provide 10 hours of content as Geralt delves into the wilds of No Man's Land and the alleyways of Oxenfurt as he employs strength and cunning to complete a contract from the mysterious Man of Glass. Blood and Wine is a 20-hour long adventure that will open up the region of Toussaint. Here is a land untainted by war, but Geralt will find that it holds carefree indulgences and a ritual hiding an ancient secret.

“While we’re offering the Expansion Pass now, we want to make one thing clear: don’t buy it if you have any doubts. Wait for reviews or play The Witcher and see if you like it first. As always, it's your call,” IwiÅ„ski concludes.

The Expansion Pass is available for $24.99 and The Witcher 3 plus the Expansion Pass will cost you $79.99. If you're uncertain about picking up the expansions prior to playing the game, you can currently get just the base game from most retailers for $53.99 (10% off). All purchasing options are available here.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will launch worldwide May 19, 2015 on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Check out our PAX East interview with CD Projekt Red's Level Designer, Miles Tost, for more information on the game.
