Ori and the Blind Forest's Release Date Announced

Ori and the Blind Forest will be out March 11 on Xbox One and PC.

Ori and the Blind Forest is an upcoming sidescrolling platform that mixes a beautiful art style with action and puzzle elements. Today, Moon Studios announced that Ori will be officially released on March 11, 2015 for the Xbox One and PC and that it will cost $19.99 on both platforms.

Alongside the announcement, the studio released a game trailer for part of the Forlorn Ruins level that shows off the beautiful art as well one of the unique challenges that players will face in the game. In Forlorn Ruins, the player comes across an orb that lets them play with gravity. Unlike other games where this involves hitting a button to flip gravity around, in Ori gravity is controlled by a combination of holding the orb while traversing unique parts of the surrounding environment.

While holding the orb, the player can freely walk across glowing orange ground, even as that ground takes a turn and becomes a wall. The player's gravity then becomes aligned to their orientation when they last touched the orange ground. The possibilities of this ability are highlighted as the gameplay trailer shows the player walking around a floating orange cube and jumping (and quickly falling) along the new direction of gravity.

If the graphics and the Forlorn Ruins trailer doesn't have you interested, Moon Studios had released the first 10 minutes of the game as a Prologue Trailer last year highlighting the emotional start to the game's story.
