how some people feel like quitting.
I've been playing Everquest for 3 and a half years on and off. I would quit the game for months then come back. Yes there is alot of flaws and glitches with the game, but nothing is perfect. I haven't bought GoD yet, might not and maybe I will, not sure yet, the only things that actually interest me about that expansion is the AA's for necromancers. I play a necro.
    -.-
It was hard for me to hit 65, long hours spent into my character specially being an iksar, yikes! I love the idea of getting to level 70, I think it'll be fun. And perhaps make it a bit easier for me to be able to solo some more of my epic mobs, or be able to do it with 1 group. *dreams*
I'm not really an old school eqer, but not a newb either, I was around in the ec tunnel days and the days when being a lvl 30 druid meant you were flithly rich if ya bound yourself at fv bank and then ported people around. I miss that. =/
But games need to evolve. I do miss VI, and wish they didn't sell out. But sh-t happens. Companies get greedy. I think some of the expansions that SoE has done have royaly sucked, LoY wasn't that bad, but bringing out frogloks as a playable race, EW! I hate frogloks, and if I am playing any of my alts, (cleric/druid/enc) I refuse to buff them, help them. I am mean!
    o.O
I don't understand all this huff about WoW, I played many MANY Blizzard games, I alpha/beta tested Diablo 2, I played Starcraft/Broodwar/WC2/WC3/Diablo1. All decent games for what they were. But I will tell you one thing that will happen for sure. WoW will get released many people will flock to it, a year later or maybe 2 years later, Blizzard will stop making updates for the game, they'll start being monthly updates then 3 month updates, then 6 months, ect. You say it won't happen? Oh, I've seen it happen with all their other games, it happened with Diablo1, It happened with SC, BW, and it happened with the beloved D2. Besides I hear they are going to be doing a Diablo3, and when they start working on that say goodbye to your WoW!
Unlike Blizzard I feel that SoE is dependable with the updates, sure they haven't fixed all the glitches, but it's a work in progress.

Ok...I'm done voicing my opinions. la~

I've been playing about a year and a half, just to begin with, and I msut say, when I began palying I was immersed into Everquest, to the point where I honestly enjoyed the game mostly for one reason: Atmosphere.

I had a bard, who got killed constantly, because I was a fool, never got anywhere, spent almost three months without even hitting the 20th level. I quit to focus on schoolwork, and because I was broke...but despite NOT grinding, not getting anywhere, no guild, I enjoyed the game.

THis, however, is not the same as it was. Part of it is now having access to PoK...I used tio run everywhere, which was fun, but not it's a Port and two zones, tops.

The other day, I went to Tower of the Frozen Shadow...excellently constructed zone, looks cool...lkeast I think so, cause I saw none of it, as I couldn;t get a group there for the life of me.

Bottom line, SOE needs to start making the game less XP grind, and more questing fun, and players need to actually TRY to have fun. I'm on FV and I STILL rarely run into RP'ers...it's rather bad.

What a Waste of Money GoD.
I am sick of BoT and no where else to group.
    I am a 65CLR with 46AAs a all Ornate gear and
still cannot get a group that wants to do other
zones that are any good for Exp. GoD you ask no
one goes there and I can not even get a group together to try for the items. I do not want to be in a raiding guild due to time requirements. LDONs? No one seems to like them at LVL65 for some reason. I do not want more LVLs just more AAs and zones I can solo and group in that work. That is just great to be LVL70 and have green cons kick your ASSP and very few zones to play. AND HOW ABOUT BEING LVL 70 and cannot get your lvl66 spells with out spending unreal time in the same broken zone with a raid. :/

GoD is and was marketed as an 'end game' expansion. I think the reason people hate the expansion is because of situations like this. They went to natimbi, sat down went /lfg maybe....and when they come back from getting a twinkie or maybe letting out the dog they find that they were demolished by a wandering stonemite...maybe a cragbeast. Next GoD exp maybe you go try a group in Qinimi and get hit for 700+ by trash mobs. Pretty soon you say ohh "GoD suxorz_01 what a waste of money." Well I Love GoD. I love the idea of having place to go after PoTime, and I love the way the game has progressed over the years. I also am looking forward to the new expansion. Food for thought on the spells issue you so clearly depicted for us dmanick; If a spell requires a raid to obtain it, there is most likely a reason for it. The new spells are meant to balance out the new expansions. They don't want every johnny a**hat having certain spells. I still have fun playing the GAME...how about you? :) ....you hear the same ******** every expansion.

actualy god was marketed as a 50 plus expansion and if you had a 50-60 toon and tried to go to them zones you took the fast way to your bind. that is the reason SOE is now "fixing" the god zones because if you are not a player who is in a raiding guild and geared out in some very nice stuff god was more or less a worthless expansion for most. my main is a 65 shammy with some decent gear on and when i target a light blue mob and malo him and still cant get slow to land their is a bit of a problem their. i enjoy the fact that the game is a challange it makes it worth playing but to make a mob that is light blue have resists that are like that is a bit of overkill.

Yes people WILL quit! They DONT like it this much and WILL stop playing. As mentioned in many above posts, the game is sucking and only getting worse. I have talked to people from Beta Test about bugs that have existed and STILL exist even now. If people would, as a group, tell Sony to FIX the game and stop cramming Expan$ions down our collective throats than maybe, just maybe Sony might do something about it. I doubt peeps would collectively make that much effort and since Sony is too busy crankin out EBugs II I'm pretty sure they won't be bothered squashing the MANY existing bugs.

    /rant off

Flame as you wish, I don't care! I'm quitting come June/July when my suckscription runs out to go play WoW or CoH or ANYthing that isn't related to Sony.

    Revil Evilooshan

Actually I started playing just before the Kunark expan$ion. I'm just tired of getting dinged yet again while problems that have been around since Beta are still problems. All I am asking (as are more than a few others) is that they fix existing bugs before they heap another load of them on us at $30 per account.

Wouldn't really care about any expansions, the last one did next to nothing for me - same with ldon (though i have it and use it occassionally). The game is still good for what it was always good for, which is social gaming and seeing all the cool places some corp programmer put together. If you don't like expansions, just don't buy em - it works for me.

First expansion I will not be buying. Two reasons- GoD was a waste- As I am not an uber guild player, there was nothing for me despite the advertising it was " 50 plus " level.

And two- I still freeze in PoK, and nothing apparently is being done except TALK. If they cannot fix the engine, why buy more chrome?

I love the game, will keep playing it for the society, but why buy stuff that just is not necessary or will break it worse?

If you don't like it this much...STOP PLAYING!!!!

I truly have a problem with posts like yours. How long have you been playing EQ? 1 year? A lot of us have been playing the game from the very beginning. Way back when there was nothing for newbies. Sitting to med with the book opened in our faces, praying we wouldnt get hit. Back when there wasnt even C3 and the bazaar, selling was done in the EC tunnels. We didnt start with back packs, some spells and mystical paths. We have worked very hard to get our characters to level 65. And we were and still are proud of that.
Before you all start spouting your mouths at us to "STOP PLAYING" why dont we look at a few things.
There are more expansions coming out faster then the bugs are being fixed. My druid farms, most of the time now she can't target to loot. Mobs are floating in the air. On the mountain in EC the giants are warping before you can finish killing them. Not only mob problems, how about the problems of zoning. 5 minutes to zone, get into POK and your lucky if you can move frame by frame. Most of the times my computer locks up and I have to reboot. My computer is more then upgraded to accomadate EQ. Plenty of money has been spent to keep up with the game.
I love and enjoy playing my 65 warrior. But you know what? I'm tired of being killed in BOT because of lag. I die in there because I'm getting hit faster then my graphics will keep up. Exp loss is not really a problem now, but its the fact that I died because I had to have the game freeze for a sec or because I havent yet caught up to what EQ is up to because of lag.
Don't you people who say "STOP PLAYING" understand that we like and enjoy the game as much as the next person, but we have been through tons and tons of expansions, tons of downtime for game bugs that never get fixed, tons of changes. We have a right to feel as let down about whats going on and complain about it. Do you think we want to just delete our 65 chars or any other chars that we played for years and years?
Before you start telling people to stop playing, think for a second what your saying to us. A lot of us have invested more time into the game then I'm sure you ever have or will.
Now I know your gonna tell me yeah, you've been playing since the beginning also, and yes, you have spent a lot of time in the game. But listen to me, I'm sure if you REALLY knew what I was talking about, like the majority of the people on this board do, then you yourself would have some let down feelings also.
We enjoy EQ but dont think it's fair what's being done to not fix the bugs, and then hit us with new expansions.
I'm sure when you grow up you'll understand what I mean.

Not buying it. GoD sucked and I'm pretty close to quitting so not going to get this one.
I don't care about the candy, I don't want the level cap raised and go grinding again when I can't even go and tank in the expansion they just released because the stuff there beats the **** out of me in under 2 milliseconds.
I'm already obsolete. No sense in prolonging the agony.
    I don't mind a new expansion...
    # May 10 2004 at 12:27 PM Rating: Decent
....but I'd like to see some features implemented that perhaps SOE haven't thought of yet. If they intend to increase the maximum level to 70 for example, I'd like to see them lock these players out of zones like they have done for lower levels. For example, if you have to be at least 46 to get into old world etc. zones, then you have to be under 60 or 65 to get into those zones as well. I can just see it now: super uber guilds stomping all over zones that were never meant to be farmed. It happens now as a matter of fact. Ssra Temple comes to mind. Let's hope they take an idea like this into consideration.
    They've forgotten the little people!
    # May 10 2004 at 7:43 AM Rating: Excellent
I for one would be gratefull if SOE did manage to release an expansion with the lower lvl characters in mind. Ever since POP and LDON were released, all the mid season zones have been abandoned. IF you take a walk through Highpass you will get cobwebs in your hair. I have been dissapointed with the game recently, because people are so obsessed with getting the most uber items and the best stuff. Whereas there is nothing wrong with wanting good stuff, I just think that it has taken away from the game. With so many twinked characters running around, if you are a poor newbie or low 30 something, it's almost impossible to get anywhere. I have been forced to lvl all of my characters in LDON adventures because all of my faveorite hunting grounds are no longer desired by anyone. I hope this new expansion will deliver what it has said it would. It would be nice to have the nostalgia of the game restored.
    Nope

This Is really a reply to at least 3 post floating around. To much coffee, not enough time.
I will not be buying this Expansion or any other, The buck stops here. In my efforts as well as other players doing the same, possibly Soe will get the hint; I really doubt it though.
    My reasoning is this;
The game is broke, I'd really love to see it fixed. By it's name, Everquest. I would hope to be Ever questing, Unfortunatly Most quest are broke or the Time sink is far to great to comprehend doing. Phylactory will get you no where. This quest is titled perfectly, a FT4 robe, months of time involved including raids. It's much more wise to Spend that time getting to Time and looting such a robe.
Minor Quest as well need to be brought up to date. Noob armor comes to mind, You would have to really love sinking time in a quest to get this armor, travel several zones; Then, consult the boards to find out where that elusive giant King Snake is. By the time your ready to kill it, The armor has out worn its usefulness.

It is also my contention that future expansions will increase disparity in play style and goals.
There are enough zones and content for Lower to mid-level characters. If it was spread out more, Where would you go to find sufficient numbers of Players to find groups? LDoN's are one answer, but not really Viable under lvl 60. It's creating More LFG, not less. Most players LFG are doing nothing instead of playing. This does Occur at higher Lvls as well, No one is Immune.
Raiding styles, Zones and Entire Guilds feel it a lot More than they Used to. Vox, Naggy and Sleepers tomb are almost Sacred zones and dragons. I've been heading into kael to hunt, Mostly i'm the only one there and during the Past month I have never seen a raid there, ToV is empty as well. I also understand quite a few PoP zones are virtually empty despite the Loots and Xp.
Guilds are really feeling it, Either your riding the Uber wave or your getting Left behind, Family type guilds that raid are having a hard time getting a Raid force together. Raiding Guilds this Side of Uberness have increased there requirements so much that they literally Isolating themselves and not making much head way to further progress.

For quite sometime I've realized that all these "new features" we've been getting in EQ are taken directly from the plans for EQ2. We have been the testing grounds for the new game for quite sometime.
With the latest rush to have us at lvl 65 and above EQ is trying there best to lock the players in to staying with the game. Some of these new features we will be getting anyway, New Graphics? You can Look at the Screenshots from EQ2 to see all the new models that EQ will equip. The Birds Eye View, I already have that when I stick my Head in a wall. (yes, this is possible).

No, No I won't be buying the new expansion..........

...they would open up the Lost Dungeons Zones to solo adventurers. I would rather play with a group, but it is next to impossible unless you are a cleric or warrior. Every now and again a druid is thrown a bone, but unless you're one of the "Special" classes, the entire expansion is a waste.

I have 2 little ones and a full time time job (50-60 hours a week) The wife ( Marque ) and I try to play alittle each weekend but unless its planned it takes sometimes an hour to either find a group or whatever...so we whind up farmin the same mobs for very little exp and some plat. removing the LDoN required players thing would be awesome!

wow, i'm surprised by all the negative responses to this upcoming expansion and yet everyone is still playing. personally, i love this game and am totally addicted even though i apparently suck at it! [my highest char is only 53 and i've been playing (*blushes*) her for the past 4 years! obviously, i haven't figured out how everyone seems to get to high levels so quickly.]

anyway, i'm glad to see that SoE is always expanding to keep their customers from getting bored. i've got PoP & LDoN and i have yet to explore all the zones from those 2 expansions! i bought GoD as soon as it came out and still haven't visited any of those zones!

like i did the last couple of times, i'll probably buy this expansion too. SoE has me hooked and they know it! i'm just gonna keep being hopeful that they'll be able to work out any major bugs and try to remember that this is just a GAME.

Well, for starters for most players YES GoD was a big disappointment, however if you delve further into it as i have it does have its benefits. YES its challenging thats what it is there for. However, my understanding of the newest expansion is that it is for ALL LEVELS. Do i have concers about the new expansion? Oh yeah, especially when they are still fixing the bugs from the newest stuff they put in and havent even fixed that. personally i feel that they are attempting to recoup their losses from GoD. They screwed up and they know it. Shouldnt have nerved the drop rate of items in GoD and made our spells SOOOO hard to get. I have spent approximately 150 hours in sewers and NO druid spells who are we kidding. I for one look forward to the new expansion new spells, as long as they stick to their word that is for all levels, cause i for one dont mind running around and helping out newbies. I remember when i was a newbie. Really not looking forward to exping up to level 70 but hey what can u do.

WOW another expansion so we can go LD more, or lock up in a different zone, other than PoK.
Another expansion that will need an emergency patch within 48 hours of release. And then another patch to fix that patch 12 hours later.
Another expansion that will get nerfed 6 weeks after it is out, like they did with LDoN and GoD because Sony did not intend for you to be playing that item or tradeskill that way.
Another $29.95 out of your pocket and into Sony's coffers before they fix the bugs that are still cropping up from GoD and PoP expansions.
Another expansion without 24 hour Tech support or GM's that can actually help or do something.
I wonder how this one will go over.

Great, just when im about to get 65 with my main they gotta go up how high of level you can be. Bad enough most of your good guilds require you to have level 65, now your going to have to be even higher. Next thing you know there going to make old world planes harder again, and up the level of a bunch of zones.

After Gates of Discord being such a disapointment, I don't plan to get it. They don't even tell you what levels these zones are for, probably going to be more mobs that are level 46 and hit like there level 60. Yea Gates was advertised as for level's 50+, but how often do you see anybody under level 60 there? HEck how often do you see anybody that is not level 65 there? Maybe you might see a couple of level 60ish in Natimbi, but thats it.

Yea they can just keep this expansion, Gates of Discord proved to me they care about nobody but the 65's who enjoy 8 hour raids in potime.

And, as we have all heard before, if they would quit churning expansinos out left and right, maybe they would fix the bugs they got in there current game. I for one am sick of:

-Mobs poping behind you if you kite them near water or a cliff.

    -Locking up in POK

-Mobs depoping and repoping at the zones succorpoint randomly when there at near death fleeing.

That is just a starter on it. Oh well
    Sweet!

Sweet..More zones I'll never get to see
sweet..More Items I'll never get to loot
sweet..Even more Impossible mobs to get killed by
sweet..even more slightly better spells to buy in the bazaar for 5k from the uber guilds trader.
sweet most of my charactors can upgrade their epics, when they get one.
    sweet..its only 29.99 each.

sigh... still gonna buy it though :)....even though we should be able to name our pets for that I would pay em 10 bucks alone :P

what the hell kind of items are they going to have in this new expansion?! my lord, Its getting to the point where one item will max you if the caps were never changed. i wont be surprised to see drops of +35 all, regen 7, mana regen 7, see invis, infra, waterbreathing. honestly, it ruins the mood of a mid level charicter to see things like that when they are straining to kill trash mobs and actualy roleplaying, anyone remember when that existed in EQ? now its extinct with peoples names like AOL names like Cyberbabe or surferroxors.
    Crooked GM's
    # May 07 2004 at 6:59 PM Rating: Good
This is yet another way for the "Uber" guilds on Test to not work on getting their uber loot. GM's need to stay out of things for a change and not hand these guilds everything on a silver platter. This makes the casual player more and more disinterested and oh we can't all run out with every expansion and buy hundreds of dollars worth of upgrades to our computers with evey expansion which are happening more and more frequent as of late. SoE needs to slow thier roll and make sure to have a "working" expansion up for a while so everyone can enjoy them before placing out a new expansion. Do they not realize that 98% of their players(customers) never even see these expansions. GoD was a huge disappointment and most likely this new one will be also. They are more interested in placing out fast expansions for people to complain about than a quality product.

If they had any concerns for their customers then they would have such a thing as quality control.

Oh and the GM's they employ should not be buddy buddy with ANY player or guild. They should be completly impartial and observers for the Dev's so they can do their jobs.

More and more people are leaving for other online games that can offer more for the customer. I will not be surprised if a new game takes over as the number 1 online game in the near future.

SOE its quality not quantity we desire.

I personally haven't paid for any expansion past Velious. My nice sharing friends have, though, so I haven't been kept out of the loop. But having checked them out I wouldn't have bought LoY, LDoN, or GoD if I didn't have my sharing friends.

Anyway, Soe is proving to be more and more incompetent. 8 expansions now and the game is JUST NOW starting to get more of the kind of experience you'd expect them to make for the original game, for FREE. I picked my words carefully to make sure I didn't imply that they improved the original world that much.

The only reason I have to keep playing EQ is my friends. But since they rarely ever log on anymore, I'm done with EQ forever. It's not like I need an MMORPG to replace EQ, but I'm looking forward to World of Warcraft for a few reasons:

    1. Hey if EQ Uberguilds are endorsing it, why not give it a try? Afterlife just recently announced they're giving up on EQ and changing to a WoW guild. FoH did the same months ago. Being leaders of uberguilds, Furor and Thott were given spots in the WoW alpha and beta (well Furor definitely got in Alpha, Thott got at least Beta, don't quote me on alpha). They've both noted that in alpha and beta stage, WoW is already more polished and bug-free than anything in EQ.

    2. Yeah, there have been dozens of MMORPG's in the past couple years that have completely bombed. But one of the main reasons for that is because many of the companies sucked in the first place. One word about WoW: Blizzard. 'Nuff said.

    3. Another reason those MMORPG's bombed was because the company rushed the games out WAY too early before getting all the kinks out, which is what SoE is doing more and more with each expansion. On the other hand, World of Warcraft has been in development since Summer 2000. Basically, after playing EQ for a year and a half, Blizzard developers said "Dude, we can do better than this!" and have been working on the game for nearly 4 years since then.

    4. This isn't necessarily an argument for WoW, but I wanted to fit it in anyway. EQ2 looks absouletely PITIFUL. 24 or whatever classes? They can't even balance 14 right. Do they think it gets easier with more?? Any race can be any class? So I guess they don't want role-players to buy their game. Only 2 starting cities for 16 different races? I don't care if each is 17 zones, that's weak. Besides, taking a half hour to zone through West, East and North Freeport was a royal pain; 17 zones ensures it'll take you 3 hours to take a trip to the bank and class trainer. As for the graphics: technology hasn't caught up to the graphics engine yet. It's still got 1-2 years to catch up, but of course SoE will have improved the graphics even more by then. With a 3.2GHz cpu and all that jazz, 5 or more characters on the screen is still enough to drop the FPS below bearable, IMO. (Based off Fan Faire vids, not just speculation).

Anyway, one of the developers for EQ2 basically states that for EQ2, they're adressing a lot of design issues from EQ1. What's that say when a company decides to just make a whole new game instead of fixing the existing problems in the game that people have been paying to play for 5 years?

verant hasn't been in charge for a while, SOE runs the show now, and they tend to suck at it.

Well with the release of this new expansion i am left a little apprehensive rather then having a feeling of happiness and excitement. Upon reaching lvl 65 I found that i had a new freedom wher i could go and play in any zone and not have to worry about hitting the "Best Exp" zones, i could go and explore zones i wnated or do LDoN's till i fell asleep in my chair. Also i discovered a new class for me, Beastlord, which i found to be a very fun class to play and very different from my main, a cleric. I am not in a high end uber raiding guild i am in a Family guild andour biggest targets are BoT Tower named...I find that i will now have to bring my cleric out of retirement to lvl him to 70 just to be able to keep up in raiding with my guild...this sadens me as i really love to play my BL... all in all this pointless rant is just to express my feelings towards the ever increasing lvl caps...i am going to laugh my breast plate off when i walk into Mr. Thunderclaps domain...con him and he is Dark Blue.
New Zones are going to be cool (if i ever see them...still have GoD places to explore)and i guess new items never hurt... I AM a bit worried about the whole "Epic 2" thing as Doing my cleric and Beast Lord epics were prolly the most boring and tedious thing i have experienced in my EQ days. If they made the items available in Zones where people could frequently group and were not an ultra rare drop off of Uber_Mob#1 then i guess it will not be so bad. Anyways all this aside i still Pre-Ordered the expansion right when i saw i could...i dont wanna be left in the dust =). I love Everquest...it has been my main hobby for a couple years now and a nice way for my fiance and i to relaxe without spending hundreds of dollars on a night out. Anyways this was just my feelings here. Thanks for listening to my rant.
Flamers beware i DONT CARE rate my post 0 and flame on.
