After rumors on big changes to the development of Titan, Blizz responds

After the rumors first swirled on Venturebeat today, there has been a lot of conjecture over the future of Titan, the mysterious and rabidly anticipated MMO in development at Blizzard.

With reports that the project has undergone extensive changes in its design and implementation which could delay it to at least 2016, we reached out to Blizzard and asked for comment.

Blizzard responded as follows:

"We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven't announced any dates for the MMO."

So with no announced date it's not accurate to say the project has been pushed back, nevertheless this would seem to indicate fans might be waiting a while longer for large revelations on the details of the project. For those expecting a lot of information at Blizzcon, this seems unlikely with this news.

Activision's analysts says make Call of Warcraft!

Here is me throwing out an unfair comment, but Blizzard decisions have been bad ever since they joined up with Activision. Maybe they are feeling pressure now when they have to attend board meetings and have Activision depending on them, meanwhile Vivendi is trying hard to get rid of them both and sell them off.
Blizzard's Current Talent

I'm starting to think there is something wrong with Blizzard as a company and the talent they currently have. The same thing happened with Diablo III. It took them forever to release the game, and when you look at it truly, it should not have taken them that long to make the game. There simply isn't that much content or art in Diablo III to justify the development time. They were still scrapping entire systems and rebuilding them a couple months before release. There is something to say about refining your game to perfection, but there is also something to say about blindly throwing systems at the wall and hoping you come out with something even remotely OK. I fear all the guys that made old Blizzard games so great are all gone, and we're left with the B-league now making their games. I really hope I'm completely wrong. Warcraft II and Diablo are some of my earliest and greatest gaming memories.
