ESET $15,000 UK Heart of the Swarm Tournament

Antivirus providers ESET have once again stepped up to offer $15,000 in prizes.

Antivirus Protection providers ESET, following the i47 £5,000 StarCraft II tournament have upped the stakes to £10,000 for the coming i48. With the tournament taking place on 22-25 March, shortly after the release of the Zerg expansion Heart of the Swarm, all the games including the qualifiers will be played on the new expansion.

Speaking of qualifiers, the first open qualifier has already kicked off over on TwitchTV, the next qualifier will take place on February 21. The player pool is one of the most impressive we have seen for a UK tournament including the likes of UK stars BlinG and Ziktomini, TLO, Sting and Welmu

The winner from each will receive £150 travel expenses, a hotel for the duration and use of an i7 computer on the day.

The eSports scene in the UK is among the smallest in the world, but more recently has seen the likes of IPL offer competitive prize pools that have encouraged growth in the scene, WCS UK qualifiers and now ESET who are pumping money into the scene. There is hope yet for the scene and good on ESET for supporting it.
