ZAM Weekly: The Best of the Week that Was

A festive edition asks you to warm up your best singing voice

Since December 25, ZAM has been giving a festive series of features on prominent games of the past year. Our 12 Games of Christmas have arrived every day to bring cheer to all gamers. Have a look back at the games below:

On the first day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: UO in a Pear Tree.

The first MMO, Ultima Online is still going strong and its influence pervades the industry to this day. To celebrate its anniversary, one of its long term players, Padric of Chesapeake, gives insight into just how revelatory it was at launch and beyond.

On the second day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 2 Angry Charr

Guild Wars 2 launched with a bang in 2012 and I gave my view of how things have been going for ArenaNet's hit, including what I think might be in store in the year ahead.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 3 Warring Factions

PlanetSide 2 is also a fresh faced MMO to launch in the past year, I took a look back at how things are progressing for the massive shooter.

On the fourth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 4 Character Paths

WildStar has been featured regularly on ZAM as we leap on new details like a lion on a gazelle. Gareth "Gazimoff" Harmer gave his view on the game's development.

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 5 Gold Rings (and one to rule them all...)

With the release of the Riders of Rohan expansion, LOTRO is another game we've spent time with this year as Turbine continues to expand its rich vision of Middle Earth.

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 6 Emo Sha

It's staggering that so many doubted the staying power of World of Warcraft before the release of Mists of Pandaria. Instead of the nail in the coffin predicted by many, MoP has revitalized the biggest MMORPG around.

On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 7 AD Carries

The world championships, the huge viewing figures, the continued dominance in the online eSports realm; it's been another phenomenal 12 months for League of Legends. Julian "Mirai" Williams gave his impression of all the goings on in the lanes and between.

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 8 Maids a Milking

Cow levels? Nope, no idea what you're talking about.

On the ninth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 9 EQ2 Expansions

Calthine is known throughout the EQ2 community, so it was apt that she brought her perspective on the history of Everquest II and its array of expansions.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 10 Lords a Leaping (over a tall building in a single bound)

I was reminded of how passionate the DCUO devs and community are at SOE Live this year and Home Turf looks to be an excellent addition among many to come in 2013.

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 11 Laden Hulks

Gazimoff conducted an excellent interview with one of the lead CCP devs plotting the future course for EVE Online.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love sent to me: 12 Corgis Wagging

And finally we round off the 12 Games of Christmas with a view on a crazy year for Rift and its Storm Legion Expansion.

We hope you had a great holiday season and that a wonderful 2013 lies ahead for you. Stay with us at ZAM for our regular exciting content and keep an eye out for dramatic changes that will be announced in the months ahead!
