Sad news reaches us at ZAM this afternoon as it is confirmed that Trion Worlds has made the decision to lay off part of its workforce today.

Rumors began a few hours ago on twitter that 40 or more jobs have been lost and we just received an official statement from Trion:

"As a response to market conditions, product timelines and the natural evolution of our company, we have made some organizational changes, which include a workforce reduction. This was a difficult decision and we wish the best for those affected by these changes. At Trion, we remain focused on delivering top quality online game experiences, and are committed to supporting Rift and launching our highly anticipated new titles Defiance, Warface, and End of Nations in 2013."

It has been a very turbulent year for the games industry, with the downsizing at Trion being the latest in a number of studios who have been forced to cut jobs. As of yet, there is no official confirmation of the number of people who have lost their positions or which areas have been hit.

We wish the very best to all those talented people who have been affected by the layoffs.

I HIGHLY doubt Trion made this choice for no good reason, Maybe you should ask our president why companies are being FORCED to let go of workers. Rift is an amazing piece of art work and i bet those 40 or more people contributed to that. So again, You should check the economic condition before pointing fingers.

Wow nicely timed Trion!

I can see the company Xmas party...."Merry Christmas .... now get out your fired!....... oh and happy new year"

Good luck to all those who were laid off. I really hope you all get snapped up by a rival company and kick some *****

Sorry Trion but doing that to people at Xmas borders on being evil... I hope the bottom line is worth it. If I hadn't paid up for a 1yr sub, I'd show you my feelings by walking away
