Tribute Masters taking a break

From EverQuestLive.com: Tribute Masters taking a break Your local tribute masters are taking a short vacation. It seems that after only two days of collecting tribute and granting favor, they are already worn out. They will also be in closed door discussions, at their secret retreat, to re-evaluate the amount of favor granted for items. Look for them to return prior to this weekend. Why are they not taking a daily charge based on the monthly and refunding us for the time that we are paying for but not able to play due to their f*ckup? this is what really annoys me. you rent a house, give notice, but have to stay an extra day they charge you for that extra day. but if you leave early they rent it out and give you the money back that you werent there for. yet do i see any type of refund from SOE on my credit card account for the time that i spend waiting for the damn game to be playable again? hell no. <sigh> and btw SWG SUCKED! another SOE failure. man, i hope EQ2 is together a little more than this...

dude your just an SOE butt kisser. we pay way to much money to enjoy an inferior service.customer service is non existent and ingame assistance is shady at best.what is even worse is there lets play friendly policy.me like thousands of other poeple who play know that ownership is 100% of the law. its an excuse used by these shady GM's to take in bribes and favors.someone mentioned that they are turning out expansions way to fast i agree with them. instead of doing some extra planning they reclessly add stuff to the game without eve thinking of the havoc they might unleash. patching to fix a patch, non existant customer service and crooked GM's are what i have come to expect from EQ and SOE. so dont try to feed everyone this crap about there doing their best and the game is so huge they cant fix it all. we pay top dollars to play this game and they give EQ players a headache and the run around.so why dont you pull your head outa SOE's butt long enough to get some fresh air to bring you out of this delusional state you seem to be in.
I haven't even bought SOE yet, but...

You'd think SOE might get a clue one of these days and anticipate exploits or problems before the release of an expansion. Just my 2 copper...

PS- I meant GoD in the subject line, not SOE

what they need to do is put a casino in pretty much every place there's a bank in the game, so you don't get overcrowding.and casino NPCs should be made udamagable like soulbinders so you don't have people killing them and keeping others from using them. if sony ever thought "lets make the game better" not "let's make more money" they would have known this 2 months ago.

seriously instead of releasing a new Exansion every couple of months (LDoN was only released a few months ago) hows about take the extra time to beta test

# Feb 17 2004 at 1:31 AM Rating: Default
oh yes, this is quite annoying. It has gotten to the point that there is an expansion coming out every couple of months... I remember when i was an expansion every year just about until it got to SoL, then it started this expansion every couple months. They should just release an expansion and let it sit for a while, then release another one.

I read on another site that the tribute buffs only last 10 minutes? is this true? Its seems like a short period of time for the expense to get these buffs.
RE: tribute buff duration
# Feb 16 2004 at 1:44 PM Rating: Default
somewhat, this is basically how it goes, each buff will have an activation cost (is always more then the 'keep it activated' cost) and a cost to keep the buff activated every 10 min. for example (and none of these numbers are correst):

say you want to do mana regen tier 1. it will have a 10 point activation cost, then every 10 minuted it will deduct 7 points to keep the buff activated. at any point you can turn it off or it will stop itself if you run out of points. However they can only be activated at the tribute masters, so you cant just turn them on and off when on a raid or what not.
The nerf is in
# Feb 13 2004 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
So, (promises of nerfing being done forever aside) the nerf is in, and here it is:

1. Prices on easy-to-get/make items will be lowered
2. All points are capped at 200,000 (though if you're over now, you stay there, but can only spend them, not get more, until you are below 200,000).
3. In a week, retroactive point values for items you turned in before the nerf will be applied. So that means that if you turned in 100 animated bait for 2million points, and it's now worth 1 point, you will retroactively have 1,999,900 points removed from your total (what happens if you go negative, I wonder?)

This is all fair and reasonable AS LONG AS THEY DON'T TOUCH LEGIT items. The stein thing is annoying. I had 2 opal steins that I was very happy with, and they are gone... now I'll probably lose the points for them. It wasn't an exploit, it was the number of points that they thought were reasonable. It's not MY fault that others made a ton of these and turned them in.

I also turned in some items that I paid up to 2,500p for... will THOSE points be nerfed? Hmm... this could get VERY annoying.
wtf

phegan you you got a bit more then berserker class you got tribute even if its down for a few days you got leadership/raid exp skills you got new zones and keep in mind this exspantion just went live not to long ago so there is going to be a few buggs but somone always has to cry about things sony maid a nice exspanion here with some nice new features and some new classes aa's where worth the exspanion alone dont rush to judgment 2 days after it goes live

I think it's so hilarious that people still don't see the point to the Casinos...THEY ARE GETTING RID OF EXCESS MONEY. Notice how the money goes away forever? which means that that's however much you spent, GONE. It's wonderful, hopefully prices will drop again and I'll actually be able to buy stuff.

Man, yall really need to think about how much is involved in gettin this whole thing to work smoothly, with all that goes on to keep stuff updated as fast as we get it.. Stuff happens. The test server is their testing ground, if you wanna help them get things right the first time, make a char there and help them out.. If you dont, you will just get what you have now, they put something out with as much smooth as they can do, considering the lack of diversity of systems that are being used on test.. they go live, and all your different comps come into play, including hops across the world, vid cards, modems, whatever.. If you cant stop to use your imagination on what it takes them to make this work.. then please state in your whine post that you are lacking info, but its just your opinion. There are other games out there that you might consider playing, if this agrivates you so much. ;) In the mean time, consider that most ofyou know that there were things like low level tinker items that anyone can make , that were giving way too much pt for the tribute dudes. You cannot expect them to just leave it and let everyone get away with it.. they realized they had more work to do, and they are fixing it.. so the game is kept fair.. Which is why i personally play EQ. Anyways, back to my Excursion /wave .. and btw, if you choose to gamble, you are gamgling on the outcome, curse in private about the chances you took. Most of us dont wanna hear about it. ;)

You played the casino expecting to MAKE money?! WTF were you thinking? They even CALLED it a casino... that's what casinos do: they take your money.

In Las Vegas, I went to see Penn and Teller (great show BTW) and they said, "welcome to Las Vegas, the only city where 97% return on investment is considered a good thing!"

GoD?
# Feb 12 2004 at 9:32 PM Rating: Decent
So, they have taken the Casino back down, took down the tribute system, the zones are really just 60+ what have we got from GoD then? the bezerker class, which isnt much use to me since i have 4 other toons, and a new tradeskill UI. I love the new UI dont get me wrong, but its not worth 30 dollars.

# Feb 13 2004 at 2:48 AM Rating: Decent
didnt need to buy GoD for the UI, it was part of the 2/10 patch. i dont have GoD yet. But i got the Trade Skill UI... which thinks i have a 250 tinkering on my halfling Druid

Yes, idiot, thats why its funny. The new UI has been freaking out on people and telling them they have different skills then they do.

Well it all seems a little unprofessional. We are paying good cold-hard cash for EQ.

It feels like we have sat the exam and they change the syllibus afterwards and fail us all.

And then expell us ...

I went to the test server to see the casino weeks before live servers got it and NOBODY was playing it and I sent tells to people asking info about the casino and nobody said they played it. The casino is important to the game and they NEED to find a way to keep the casino in game... limite the number of saves that happen during transactions and add more prizes and get rid of the only 1 gold ticket allowed per 24 hour rule

First the casino came and they had to stop it a day or two later, now the tribute system...

Don't they do testing before things go live??

What's that?

Oh, we ARE the testing!!

Actually, I'll forgive them on this one... As the response went, 'Who ever makes level 1 tradeskill items on the test server?'.

Most (ok not all) of the offending items were lower level tradeskills that probably you dont see much of on test.

In case folks were not aware, the issue in question was that some cheaply made items generated a little too much tribute. Theoretically, a few hours of tinkering could give you FT V for life.

As regards the casino, the load on the test server can never truly approximate the live servers.

Both of these are great ideas to get some of the extra cash out of the game but they are going to need some tweaking.

I agree, but you'd think with their past track record they'd be getting BETTER at implementing new things to the game. I can't help but commenting, it's just about EVERYTIME they do something new.

Yeah, I agree - this was a little too powerful

for 2 pp I could buy a dagger of dropping from the bazaar and tribute it for 1034

Last night I spent 30 pp on daggers of dropping

you do the math :-D

You're definately right, but THEY set these values in the first place. It's not like we the players determined how much favor items create. Given that FACT, what did they expect to happen?

With all this happening in the very first DAY of release you really have to wonder how tested it was. You could argue that people figured it out on the test server and just didn't report it, but I don't buy that excuse as there ARE honest people who understand the purpose of the test server and would report this if found out. I also know there are people who would hide the fact, but all you need is ONE person to report it and then they test it out.

I'm not looking to bash SOE, EQ is really a great game but EVERY expansion has been adding negative effects to the game that then effect EVERYONE, has to be fixed, prevents people from playing what they paid for even if they did get the expansion in question.

The ecomony is STILL very messed from the duped plat exploit, if you want some REAL details about how its effect EVERYONE for the worst read this...
https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1075435996761751677&num=0

Unfortunately it's always the honest people getting hurt while those willing to ***** someone over for a little gain makes out like a bandit. What's really sad is that in most cases it's not even real world items! You'd think in a game people would be more likely to be fair or honest but instead, since you can't see their faces, they hide behind their computers willing to act with complete disreguard for the feelings of others as if they were in a single player game and everyone they dealt with were NPCs.

Okay, I got a little off topic, but I'm really just getting disappointed that all these changes that are supposed to be for the better and more often than not the little guy that just wants to have fun is getting hurt by it.
RE: WTF??
# Feb 14 2004 at 11:01 AM Rating: Default
I made and observation about your post... You stated that these expansions and additions to the game are supposed to make the game better, well if you dont add expansions and additions(good or bad) the game then becomes unchanged and boring. Thus the game not only doesnt become better but worse as time goes on....its a give a little to gain a little situation.

More or less what im saying is. If changes werent made people wouldnt have these topics to worry about. Ask yourself "would you still be playing this game after all these years if there werent and expansions." Thats also assuming you started playing early on.

I never said the expansions were bad, in fact from the beginning to now, with all the expasions it's great that there are so many different ways to play, so many that one expansion or another will offer everyone SOMETHING to do even if they didn't like one particular expansion.

What I said was...
<EVERY expansion has been adding negative effects to the game that then effect EVERYONE, has to be fixed, prevents people from playing what they paid for even if they did get the expansion in question.>

I think it was both LDoN and GoD that added a bug to the game that was causing 30 minute zone-times and/or kicking people out of the game when they zoned. It was about the time LDoN came out that the plat exploit was introduced, EACH expansion has been needing immediate downtime the same day and/or for days after it's release.

Also often enough exploits have been added to the game during patches. These exploits tend to be very obscure yet some group take IMMEDIATE advantage of them as if they knew they were being put into the game, and oddly enough it's starting to seem more and more that the people who are coming out on top are the companies who sell accounts, power-leveling services and buy/sell plat. After the plat exploit even dispite the deleting of "hundreds" of accounts (and mind you I haven't heard of ONE person losing their account over it) the companies who sell plat have SOOO much they show prices to sell them plat but if you offer them any they tell you they're currently full. I'm rambling when this post said it all already.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=1&mid=1075435996761751677&num=0

Just in closing I want to say again, I have nothing against the expansions themselves, just the negative effects the downtime, bugs and exploits keep hurting the common players, even those who opt NOT to buy the expansion. I think a lot of the innovations these expansion add are GREAT! The new tradeskill interface is great, LoY's expanded bank slots, guild tools and maping was awesome. Kunark raised the level limits, added epics and tried to limit camping. SoL added great new models, mounts, and the bazaar. LDoN I think is the best one yet! All the expansions added things and I enjoy just about a little of something from all of them. (Yes, I know I left out a lot of expasions and their good points but I'm not gonna sit here and list them all)
