SOPA and PIPA protests go live!

By now most of you are well aware of SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP Act). For those who don't know, you probably know now, as many U.S. websites are using today as their day to spread awareness.  Internet juggernauts like Google, Wikipedia, RedditMozilla, WordPress, Craigslist, and many more, have chosen to go black or grey to show their support against these two bills.

To get an idea of what these bills will do, both SOPA and PIPA would give the U.S. government and copyright holders the authority to seek court orders against foreign-operated websites associated with infringing, pirating, or conterfeiting intellectual property. If made into a law, a website accused of containing copyright-infringing content could be entirely shutdown, de-indexed from search engines, and even held liable for user's violation.
