Patch Notes for June 29, 2011

Here are the patch notes from this morning's game update (as posted by Piestro over on the EQ Forums):

*** New 14-Day EverQuest Trials! ***

- Have a friend who'd like to try out EverQuest? Our new 14 day trial is now available! Go to http://everquest.com/everquest.vm and click the "Try it Now" link at the top of the screen to begin!

*** Fellowship Experience Sharing ***

- Ever had a friend or friends that fell behind the rest of your group because they could not play as much as the rest of you? Now you can invite them to your fellowship and enable experience sharing. This allows your combat experience to be shared with them even if they are offline!
- The new system requires fellowship members to opt-in from the fellowship window using the new toggle XP button. There is also a new column in the list that displays the XP sharing status of all members. The fellowship leader can toggle XP sharing for anyone, or each member can toggle their own.
- If you have fellowship XP sharing enabled, you both share and receive combat experience with other fellowship members that also have it enabled.
- Experience splitting works very similarly to the way XP is split in a group, except without the group member count bonus.
- Normal group level-range restrictions for getting experience also apply to fellowship XP sharing.

*** UI ***

- New characters get a new default UI layout that should be more functional for most classes and play styles. Existing characters will be unchanged.
- Disabled "right click to inspect" by default for new characters.
- Implemented some minor marketplace improvements.
- Attached SC button to the EQ button.

*** Changed Files ***

- EQUI_Animations.xml
- EQUI_EQMainWnd.xml
- EQUI_FellowshipWnd.xml
- EQUI_MarketplaceWnd.xml
- EQUI_ObjectPreviewWnd.xml
- defaults.ini

No longer do I have to run my alts all the way to the zone to get XP now. I can even have them off-line now, or at least that is what is implied.

No complaints from me. I have several alts and friends that get neglected while I am playing my mains. To me, this falls in the same category as double XP aa's and bots. Some may be on power trips and not like this idea but others who enjoy playing just to play and help others along the way are loving it. Like one of the other posters said, if you don't like it then it won't really effect you. Raiders PL alts all the time just to have something to play on the side. Now casual players can pl alts with little downtime on their mains.

If some of you are concerned about level 90 toons running around that have 3 hours of play time on them, oh well. Get over it.
Great

Love this idea - finally able to "play" with my sons and wife, and keep together in level and AAs even if they dont play nearly as much as me.
This is the best thing ever.

I have to agree with the majority here. SOE really laid a rotten one with this patch.

The only redeeming feature of this is is I can now level up my alt Mage while playing my Necro main (so I can summon my own pet toys). Other than that, it's a horrible idea.
Does it matter??

As it is, if a character is powered through, does that really affect you? On the off chance that you group with someone that has had this--and I think we ALL have--it is easy to spot early on, and you move on.

It is not an idea I like, but it doesn't really affect me or any of my friends in the least.

i disagree...

for now, until we see how it works in practice instead of just talking about it, i'm in favor of this idea.

my wife also plays EQ, but doesn't get to play as often as i do. now, i can get her XP without 2boxing or worrying about dragging her all over norrath with me just to keep her character from falling too far behind mine.

i think this is a good idea for people like us.
maybe some people will take advantage of it, but there are always creeps out there who will always take advantage of things just because they can.
if they never implemented something that some people, like us, would be benefitted by just because there are some douchebags out there who will use it to cheat, then we'd still all be level 55 and think that KD is the most uber zone ever.
I have to agree...

...this is simply a wide open door for the plat/gear/PL sellers.

If one wants to "mentor" regular XP like group LAA XP, thats fine. Be in gorup/zone/XP range and toss them the extra XP as you play.

And why add this extreme XP measure when there is STILL no option to mentor Raid LAA XP.

Not to be a Debbie downer, but doesn't this just give people an avenue for people to power level other people without them actually having to put any work into it? I don't believe this is a good move for the community, and this is speaking from one of those people who constantly "fall behind" friends due to extended breaks and limited game play.

I agree. This is just an opening for people to try and make more money off the players that dont get to play very much. So we are not suppose to do what you are now telling us is ok.
