Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising Dev Q&A: Combat

Gods & Heroes: Rome Rising has released a new dev Q&A which focuses on combat. The dev team is answering questions from the forums, Facebook and Twitter. Read the full Q&A after the jump to see what changes and improvements are coming to the G&H combat system.

We receive a lot of questions about combat and how it’s changing & improving!

Q:What has been the biggest challenge with the Combat System?

A. Overall, the biggest challenge has been getting the proper blend of speed, danger, and feel down right. We will likely continue working to make combat fun and exciting for quite some time. Getting the proper balance within the classes will also improve the combat experience for everyone.

Q: Do you feel the combat has improved?
Combat has definitely improved. Without getting too deep into the weeds, normal attacks interfered with special attacks. By changing how this works, it’s filled out and improved how the attacks flow together. The beta test players have enjoyed the changes and we’re constantly reading their feedback to put more fun into the mix.

Q: Is the lower level combat as exciting as higher level combat?

A. Lower level combat is intentionally less difficult than higher level combat. It is designed to give the player an opportunity to get the feel of their chosen class. As players advance, combat will become more difficult. It will take skill to win.

Q: Will we be able to fight successfully without minions?

At lower levels. Your minions will become more important as you level. There will be a variety of challenges scaled on solo with minions and with other players.

Q: What are your favorite aspects with the newer combat improvements?

It’s a bit faster now and will continue to get faster. It looks better and it feels better. We’re committed to continuing with the improvements; you’ll even notice some for the next patch. Every time we add to the game, we’re tweaking it to maximize the fun factor.

That’s it for this week’s Q&A! Check back next Friday for our next Dev Q&A!
