Korean Stress Test Videos Spotlight TERA PvP

Take a glimpse into what TERA will bring to the PvP table.

PvP is a big part of TERA, and as such it deserves its own spotlight.  These following videos from the Korean Stress test give us a good idea of the core skills we, as players, will need to develop to become master duelists.

Pay attention to how the targeting works, or doesn’t work, in these videos.  TERA PvP is going to require intense focus and the ability to telegraph our opponents' moves.  Learning to trap the opponent into moving a certain direction or committing them to an attack that we can predict can determine the outcome of a battle.  Each class specializes in certain styles of attacking. For instance the Slayer from the first video uses overhead attacks that only strike targets directly in front of her.  Mastering your class' use of directional and AoE attacks will be equally important as learning when, where, and how you are the most vulnerable to each opposing class.

This first video follows an Elin Slayer through her first few duels.  There are a few things of note from each of these duels I would like to point out.  In the first duel, notice how a select few hits from the Slayer comprise almost all of the damage.  The second duel consists of a cat and mouse act with the Slayer seeking to find the Sorcerer’s missstep.  Watch how the Sorcerer allows the Slayer to close in and follows up by dropping an AoE on the ground at her own feet.

The third duel is incredibly close. In this duel, both the Slayer and the Lancer have the same basic targeting direction: directly forward.  This makes for an interesting battle where each side is attempting to flank the other.  The final battle pairs our hero off against a Berserker. Sadly we do not learn much from this conflict because the Berserker seems to be lagging and does not respond very well.

In our second video, we take a look at a low-level 20s duel.  This video gives us a great example of what skill it will take to effectively play ranged classes.  Both the Archer and the Sorcerer in this video must time their abilities and aim them so that their opponent will move into them rather than out of them.  This video gives us an important look at exactly how much player skill is going to mean in the world of TERA PvP.

I’d like to take this time to thank everyone for reading and watching, and I hope it was educational. I look forward to meeting everyone in-game, for better or for worse.  I also want to extend my sincere thanks to the crew over at TeraWorld.es for producing these videos!
