LOTRO Going Free-to-Play in Europe on Nov. 2

Following some contractual delays, European players will finally get to play Lord of the Rings Online for free.

Codemasters just announced that Lord of the Rings Online will be going free-to-play in Europe on Nov. 2. The MMO has been free-to-play in North America for more than a month, but contractual issues caused delays for the European version of the game.

While the game will be free-to-play, European players will be able to purchase expansions, quest packs, items and account services from the LOTRO Store using points which can be purchased in the store or earned through gameplay.

Nov. 2 will also mark the launch of Volume III, Book 2: The Ride of the Grey Company in Europe. The update will introduce all sorts of new content, including 15 soloable chapters, a Wardrobe to store cosmetic items, an updated character creation system, a revamped new player experience, and more.
