Wintergrasp Daily Quest Changes

Blizzard is making a change to how dailies work in Wintergrasp, they no longer will be "daily" but available once a week starting Tuesday at 3:00AM server time. This should help alleviate some stress issues in Wintergrasp. Also rewards will be increased to compensate to only being able to do them once a week.

More info after the jump.

Posted by Crygil here:

In an effort to better balance the amount of players that are in Wintergrasp at any given time, we are changing the daily quests in Wintergrasp to a weekly format. This has led to an increase in the honor reward given by these quests as well as additional Stone Keeper's Shards. These quests will reset every Tuesday morning at 3:00 AM.

There are two known issues that may occur once these changes are pushed to live realms:

The quest mark will now show as gold, even though the quests are repeatable.
After the quests reset, players near the NPC quest givers may need to move out of line of sight in order for the quests to properly appear.

From whatI can gather from another site, they are going to now give us 10-20 shards per turn in and 3723 honor. Hmmm, so that's going to be 18615 honor from al 5 q's per week. Thanks for ******** us out of a potential extra 23385 honor Blizz. That's really fair!

I guess we can use the additional shards for 2000 honor, but with a max of 100 per week and it costing 30 per 2000 honor, we're only going to get an additional 6K.

Pleas rethink this. We don't all want to do arenas 24/7....some of us prefer a good, oldfashioned pvp war. We deserve decent rewards too.
Not a great idea Blizz

Since the Lich came out, there has been a huge decline in people participating in the traditional BG's on our battle group. This is due to two reasons; 1 - tokens are now pretty much useless, and 2 - you can obtain more honor in running one WG and doind the dailies than running a BG.

Personally, I love WG. I run it over and over, even once I've turned the dailies in for the day. However, the honor obtained from running the dailies is essential to upgrade to basic Hateful Glad soon after hitting 80. As it stands, and with the lack of traditional BG's being run (I mean, a 3 hour wait for an AV on AV weekend!), the dailies in WG are pretty much needed for pvp'ers to obtain the honor fast so they can become competitors at pvp once hitting 80.

Right now, I think we get somewhere in the region of 6000 honor from turing in all 5 dailies. That means each q's honor is around 1200 per turn in. Considering many of us do all of the dailies every day, we would need to be totally compensated with around 8400 honor per turn in every week. That means we should get (theoretically of course, because I don't think blizz will implement this) 42000 honor fo all 5 q's on turn in once a week. To give less honor than that would be totally unfair, if they plan to remove the dailes.

I personally think that if Blizz are going to remove the daily q component from WG, then they should not do it completely. For example, to get people into WG on a daily basis, make sure that Victory In Wintergrasp is a daily quest. If it's not, we're going to have 2 full wg's a week...one where Horde wins, and one where Alliance wins. Even if people obtain the quest sporadically through the weeks, it is only going to be the Tuesday WG that's going to be full, as tht's when most people are going to pick it up.

I actually think it would be better for there to be more dailies in WG, even for less honor. That would encourage people to visit and participate in the battles more frequently.
hmmm....

Let's just hope that blizzard has been running the numbers on the percentages of people turning in quests after battles. I could see this helping a little during peak times but WG could become a lonely place any other time. You could make an easy 40g everyday in WG depending on if you were attacking or defending. I am not saying I will never go back into WG because of this change but I am not going to run it everyday which I guess is the point. I wonder how many other people think like and if this change is going to hurt WG numbers too much.
an idea

while i agree with some things mr. run-on sentence said here, (it's called punctuation, timmy. don't be afraid) my idea would be to put a dome over the battle area when a battle starts and instance it out like AV. 40 vs 40.no more raid invites, just pop ya in like a good ol' instance. then give up on the concept of one side controlling after for shards. let everyone have 'em. just give everyone on the winning side in their particular WG a nice buff or something as a reward.
this is just a basic idea, i don't know if it would work or not. i do know something has to be done, because the current system is horrible and i don't think limiting the rewards is the answer either.

I may be in the minority, but I like WG, and could care less about the shards. Anything that keeps my computer from lagging is a good thing. Now I just have to remember not to run it on Tuesday and the rest of the week it should be more fun, less mindless frustration.
I like the idea

With diminishing returns on time to play, sounds great. Granted I have been rotating 5toons thru the 'old way', anytime I'm not raiding. Not sure it will create a void in toons, but different toons more frequently. Should be interesting to see the effect on gathering professions
yes this is a stupid idea

It's funny how the o-board is one blue post and 9 pages of people saying 'This is a stupid idea' with reasons, and yet Blizzard will still do it anyway, and yet when 3 people cry about how a ret Pala hurt them in pvp Blizzard are all over it with a nerfbat, sorting it out.

I think Bliz basically has a brain disorder where they think every idea is a good idea, whether it was them who thought of it or the players.

Why?

So Wintergrasp will be jam packed on Tuesdays, then pretty much dead the rest of the week. Dumb

So now ever fewer people will have any reason to come to wintergrasp...wonderful. Just what our server needed.
