Plant System is Coming to Runes of Magic

Frogster has announced a plant system will be implemented in Runes of Magic in an upcoming update. The system is currently running on the test server, but has not been deployed on the live servers yet.

Players will be able to choose from a range of different pots to place in their houses. Seeds can be obtained from slain foes or the item shop. As one might expect, the quality of the seeds will affect how much you obtain from each plant once it is fully grown. If the plants are watered regularly and taken care of, players can expect to harvest them in 3-7 days. If you neglect them, they could shrivel and die.

According to the press release, rewards from planting include "special runes, which adventurers can use to upgrade their character's equipment, right up to ores, wood and new plants. Given the right kind of seeds, the harvest can even be rare 'blue' crafting material." More information can be found after the jump.

Berlin, 30.04.2009: Frogster will soon be introducing a plant system for Runes of Magic. The feature gives players the opportunity to cultivate plants in the Taborea fantasy world thus giving them access to valuable crafting resources. The plant system will be deployed across the servers in one of the up-coming updates. At present the new feature is only running on the test server.

For successful planting players will need a pot which they can then set up in their own house; there will be a range of different ones to choose from. Seeds for planting can either be found left behind by slain foes, or they can be bought in the Item Shop. Their quality defines the likely yield of the plants once they have grown. So only those who regularly water their plants and fertilise them with magical runes, will find that within three to seven days they will have a harvest. First and foremost it is high level plants, which have the chance of producing a rare yield, that will need to be looked after especially well. If players neglect their plants, they’ll shrivel after a few days.

Once the plants have grown, players will finally see some reward for their labours. The extent of the yield from the plants ranges from special runes, which adventurers can use to upgrade their character's equipment, right up to ores, wood and new plants. Given the right kind of seeds, the harvest can even be rare "blue" crafting material.
