New Bank Space Announced for Expansion

Those who were considering purchasing the new Everquest expansion, Legacy of the Ykesha now has a new insentive to do so. Sony Online Entertainment announced today that those who purchase the new game add-on will have access to eight new bank slots, doubling capacity that Everquest users have been familiar with for almost 4 years. The announcement can be found here.

Each day in the world of Norrath, on the moon of Luclin, and in the many Planes, more treasures are discovered. With such an abundance of loot, eight bank slots just doesn't cut it anymore. So, we're giving everyone who purchases EverQuest: The Legacy of Ykesha eight additional bank slots, per character, to store their treasures. That's right, a total of 16 bank slots for your character!

Just think how much easier it will now be to store those extra trade skill ingredients, build that guild arsenal, or have enough room for 3200 bone chips. (That's 16, 10 slot bags containing stacks of 20 bone chips!)

except maybe in low end items

very few players have that many good items that they dont have enuff room on all their mules. ther are 640 slots per account per server.

most ppl who have tons of uber loot end up selling it on ebay, or for plat. or it goes to a twink. and if you do have tons of stuff, or jsut liek to collect crap, well with all that ebay coin u just made you can easily afford a new pc and account.

the real bottle neck for sales are the buyers. plat does not grow on trees, and noobs usually live paycheck to paycheck when buying phat lewts. the only thing this might do is increase uber guild loot hoarding, esp with no drop quest items. but im not sure its possible to increase the greed of most uber guilds

I think this is a good start, but the real change needed here is to make a portion of the bank account available to all characters on a person's account on that server. There is room above the "Done" button to add two more slots, which would allow a player to pass items to another character on the server, without trying to find a guildee or friend that won't rip you off, and would also allow for money to pass from alt to alt. Of course reasonable restrictions would have to be in place, such as no "no drop" items in the server slots, and if a lore item was placed there, an alt that had that item in inventory would not be able to pick it up, getting the same message as when you try to loot a duplicate lore item or forage a duplicate lore item. This change would not be hard to implement, and would go a long way to solving a long standing problem with lost inventory due to LD while doing a drop or stuff stolen by another player helping with a transfer.

What you're proposing proves quite difficult, and would have to allow us access to what's stored for our chacters while they're not online. That's not an easy thing to do, and basically what you're proposing promotes twinking and muling and such. That's something they DON'T want done. Why do you think so many steps have been taken to stop it(more no-drop items, lore items, when you drop an item and log the item disappears unless someone else has it). Don't think that I'm opposed to twinking. Its doable and with all the chars we can have its almost encouraged in that way. Its just that what you're suggesting is very hard to code in, and would cause many problems because of just the bug-process and loopholes and all. The part where you think its a problem that people steal your stuff when transferring, you're half right. It is a problem, but not with EQ. Its a problem with people in general. That, my friend, Sony can't fix.

On a lighter note...Funny thing happened to me back in '99 while twinking. This was in the day where the best way to twink was to get two of your characters in the same place that was out of the way (we all had our own 'twink stations') and then drop the bag/item/coin and log out and in again quickly...NO DROP items were gotten around by getting killed and having someone loot it off you. Well, I decided to transfer some valuable Bronze armor and a BABS. Little did I know, that someone else had the same spot as a 'twink station'. Yeah, so I log and they come accross it while getting ready to twink. They pick it up and luckily I pop in there and they ask if it was mine. I told them it was, and they'd probably not have believed me unless I told em that I was transferring stuff from another char... they gave it back and asked if I'd watch their stuff while they did it :p.

This was back when there were trustable people on EQ... now I'd only trust you to toss that dagger in my back ;)

Good points, and thank you for responding so very quickly to my sggestion. In my idea, the only slots that would be open for alts to access would be the 2 extra "server" slots, and they would have all the restrictions on them. I, myself, still have drop spots that I still use when I can't find a guildee or friend on that is not in the middle of a group in a nasty zone somewhere; some in most of the city zones, in places where there is no traffic or merchants, and where there is no reason for anyone to be going.

Be careful!! While drop-twinking is rarer and rarer these days, its still much more dangerous than it used to be... logging problems and such can make that item go the way of so many other items... *POOF*

Remember my story ;)

And above all else, have fun!

About the ramifications of this move, at least in the short term?

A lot of items that end up for sale on the open market get there because the player selling them has no room in his/her bank.

This could mean in the short term that prices in the Bazaar may go up on some items, at least until the banks fill up again.

That said, my tradeskills thank SOE for room to hold more stuff :)

ooooh bonechips hmmmmmmmmmmm
