CES Day One With Tovin

Well, here I am!  At this years Consumer Electronics Show, wandering the floor and finding out a bunch of goodies!  I spent most of the day preparing interviews, information and contacts for tomorrow, but click "more" to find out what happened today and what news there is from this years show!!

Every year the Consumer Electronics Show visits Las Vegas as more then one hundred and forty four thousand (144,000) people descend upon the city.

Here you can find every sort of electronic device or accessory.  The coolest new gadgets and technology out there, supported by a myriad of companies and support folks!  And believe me people, this place is packed!  The press area is filled with bloggers, print writers, and yours truly, as we sit here looking to bring you folks the happenings of the day.

It's been a long, hot, exhausting, adrenaline filled, awesome day, and I now have to share it with you!  So enjoy it!

The day start with Autumnkiss, Draknorr and myself having breakfast and discussing plans for the day!  Then they headed off to start their day (more on their doings later), and I headed off to get my badge and wander the floor of the exhibit halls.  It's packed here, the walkways are so jammed that you can't even squeeze through!

The TV's are huge, the wireless speakers are worth drooling over, and the gaming rigs....well!!  If I could walk out of here with one of those, I'd be the happiest Tovin alive!

The big news that came out of CES today wasn't actually from the show at all, but from Sony!  Sony has announced that their Sony Playstation Portable will support Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) provider Skype!  This is huge news for anyone with a PSP, as any enhancements to its current repertoire is encouraging!  You can read more on Sony's CES Page.  We're awaiting more details, though it's rumored that the software will be available before the end of the month.  As soon as I hear more, you'll know about it!

Voodoo PC's were showing off their newest, coolest rig!  The Blackbird 002!  They were running quite a few games including Unreal Tourney 2 and a few racing games that I (being the non-racing gamer that I am) didn't recognize.  I got to talk to a very nice guy who told me that the rigs are completely customized, but you can get them with 1 gig Ethernet, 2 gigs of video memory, and a dual Blue-Ray/HD drive.  The face of the tower comes in two pieces, and it can be painted separately!

Not to be outdone, Alienware is here with some rigs that I have an interview tomorrow to see, so we'll get you all the details on those!!

There are screen shots, spec sheets, maps, pictures, and much more in the heap of materials at my feet!  Rest assured, other then a quick break for lunch I've been on the go since I arrived here at the show, and tomorrow promises to be even busier as tonight will be preparing to hunt down the people I talked to today, but with more info at my fingertips!

Pictures will make their way to you, as soon as I have a chance to get them to my laptop (using a community press comp right now)!  It's going to be a late night tonight, as we prepare for great stuff tomorrow!!

CES so far has been fantastic, and I hope that you enjoy the news from here as we work to get it to you!
