EQ2 & NVIDIA - You GOTTA See This!

NVIDIA has unveiled its new GPU, the GeForceFX, at Comdex and the news recently has been filled with systems, motherboards, and graphics cards which will be using this GPU. The GeForceFX will rival and, in all probability, surpass the top performing Radeon 9700 PRO. The biggest interest to us gaming fanatics though, is what all this means to the future of our beloved MMORPG's. I've recently posted in the DAoC news section that Mythic has announced a partnership with NVIDIA for the upcoming expansion, Shrouded Isles, which should provide DAoC players with some fantastic graphics and a performance boost. Now check this out... one of the future games that will be optimized for the GeForceFX is EverQuest2, and NVIDIA has released a video featuring commentary from the EQ2 senior producer and the EQ2 art director, and some absolutely STUNNING clips from EQ2!! Even if you aren't looking forward to or aren't planning to play EQ2 (and I can't imagine why not?!), you just have to see these clips! This is where the immediate future of online gaming is heading, and its a BIG step towards that somewhat distant future of artificially created, real-life, cinematic quality fantasy worlds. Use the following links for the EQ2 movie (on IGN Insider), for a preview of the GeForceFX (on Tom's Hardware), and for the official news about the GeForceFX (on NVIDIA's site):

Their will not be a character trasfer for EQ2. There is just no reason for it. If everyone has to start new then there will not be a transfer.
    why not play eq2?

well lets look at it this way...
you have spent 3 years developin a character, endurin boring *** camps, bugs tons of crap, to get to lvl 65, with lots of aa points gear, etc.

now throw that away an start over? do you really believe that crap about characters lvling faster in eq2?

sure new servers an new content are lots of fun, but not that much fun. ithink there should be a character transfer option after some time to eq2, lets say 6 months or a year..

and that is the BEST reason not to play eq2, if enuff ppl dont buy it, sony will be forced to provide this service.

well i think there's something most ppl who what that don't get about eq2...it takes place in norrath's future...there being an Antonius Bayle IV should clue you in that it's not just a couple of years...also there will be new races and a few of the old ones...and about the same setup with classes as well...combine that with a probably completely different gameplay setup and a higher level cap than 65 and i you can see why char transfers would be extremely hard if not just flat out impossible to do

even if they did do a char transfer i think there would be some things to look at...like char age for example...how many humans that are mortal live to see four generations? sure elves will be ok but what about anyone who has a char of another race...i could see at least humans, erudites, and barbarians at least having problems with the timeline trouble...then what's to say that the class your main is now doesn't make it to eq2...all that time spent playing it and getting to 65 with all the aa points and uber gear won't mean anything if you have to start over...i think plenty of ppl will get pissed if their main can't get transfered while other ppls can

if eq2 is nice enough i'm sure that it might draw from the crowd of ppl that left eq cause they got bored with it, with all the new ideas and designs put into eq2 i think most eq players will probably just want to see what norrath is like in the future
    why not play eq2?
