Vana'diel Collection 2008

All of the Vana'diel Collections up until now have included separate registration codes for PlayOnline, FINAL FANTASY XI, and each expansion pack, but Vana'diel Collection 2008 will include a single registration code integrating PlayOnline and all FINAL FANTASY XI contents into one code.

Players will only have to enter the registration code once, making expansion pack registration code entry unnecessary.

Restrictions on Registration Code Usage

The Vana'diel Collection 2008 registration code combines multiple contents into one, but may only be used once for a single PlayOnline ID.

If you have just joined PlayOnline, you cannot use that registration code for another PlayOnline ID's expanded services registration or Content ID purchases.

Also, if you have used your registration code for expanded services on a pre-existing PlayOnline ID, you cannot use that registration code to join PlayOnline with a new PlayOnline ID.

In previous Vana'diel Collections, unused registration codes could be left over, but because of the way the new registration code works, these unused registration codes cannot be used separately. Please keep this in mind before purchase.

Expanded Services One-time Registration

If you use the registration code when purchasing a new Content ID or registering expanded services, you will be given the option on each completion screen to perform one-time registration for the unregistered expansion packs: Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, and Wings of the Goddess.
By using the one-time registration feature, you will not need to individually register each expanded service.
*If you do not intend to use one-time registration, please register from "Expanded Services Registration" under "Membership."

*It is not necessary to input your registration code into both one-time registration and individual registrations.

The "FINAL FANTASY XI: Wings of the Goddess" expansion pack that is being sold separately will include a single registration code only for use with Wings of the Goddess. If you are currently using a PlayOnline ID that already has Rise of the Zilart, Chains of Promathia, and Treasures of Aht Urhgan installed and registered, we recommend only purchasing the "Wings of the Goddess" expansion data disk.

Kind of an odd question, and one I hope hasn't been answered before, but I couldn't find the plain English answer:

If I have FFXI on multiple platforms, PC and Xbox 360, do I need to buy the "expansion data disk" for both still? Or can I buy it once, register it to my content ID and be done with it?

So I currently have all of the expansions on the PC and only Zilart on my PS2. I was thinking about buying the new collection pack for PS2 for the data for CoP, Treasures, and WotG, and then somehow getting WotG on PC without spending -another- $30 on the single game since I'll be registered.

Any thoughts? Maybe they'll release another starter pack and I can get the data that way for the PC.

If you only actively use one POL account, then buy the WoTG only expansion for PC to get that code and register the expansion for existing content IDs with that code. Then you can buy the collection for PS2 and install everything on it. As long as you registered with codes from the PC version, you can use all of that account info when you log into the PS2.

If you have two separate accounts, then you're going to have to buy WOTG separately for each platform, in addition to the collection. Remember, registration codes correspond to the Account / Character, not to the platform.

And spend $70 buying both? Sorry, FF11 isn't THAT great. >.>

It's the same account, but I just have the software of PS2 and PC. Same content ID, but I play on one or the other depending on what I'm doing. My ideal situation would be to spend $40 for the PS2 stuff and then somehow find a way to get WotG on my PC (since I'll already be registered), but I'm not sure how that will work out.

I think I'll just buy the PS2 version right now if I'm going to spend money. I tend to use that more anyway. ^^

I think they are saying that if you buy the collection, you CANNOT use that code to register only WoTG. The code that comes with the collection is to register everything together. If you have an existing character and want to add WoTG to that account, you have to buy the separate WoTG expansion pack for at least one platform, and use that registration code.

Basically, the collection is designed for NEW players. If you are an existing player, you can't use the code from the Collection.

They are saying if you got the collections for WOTG and registered it, the other registration codes from the collection will be wasted.

**(If you already registered the expansions {COP, ROTZ, TOAU} with a previous release)**

Its to prevent people from buying the collections, using the WOTG registration code and using the others to start a new charactor for a friend.

I think this is lame, there my codes, I purchased them, why should SE care what I do with them, if I do use them to activate another charactor thats another 12.95 for them.

On a side note if you did register a new account youd still have to go and purchase WOTG for the registration code, (or purchase the code from them) so whats the difference to them?

I hate the double speak the way this worded. Each time I read I get more confused.

If I understand this, current users just need the data disk if we have all 3 expansions installed, correct?

If we are recently new to FFXI or creating a new character from scratch I guess you just need the collection, or am I missing something?

I got PS2 (all expansions) and PC (does not have ToA expansion), I have no idea what I need to purchase. Basically, they should have written this much simplier to understand.
Release?

This seems like what EVERYONE would end up doing?
I mean, i own all 3 current CDs for ps2.

But to be able to maybe sell off them CDs, and just own ONE (plus WotG) would, imo, be way better.
Then you only have to lose one CD, and not all 3 :P
but is it for the ps2...

You cant sell off your cd's i dont think? Once registered they cant be used by another person who would want to start a new account. idk if there will be a WotG expansion disk for the PS2, but i would be shocked if there was not.....
