California Fire EQ Team Update

EverQuest producer Clint Worley posted on the official EQ Forums to give players an update about state of the EQ team. As SOE's main offices are located in San Diego, the wildfires burning in California are directly affecting many of their staff members.

Here is his post from the official EQ Forums:

I wanted to give all of the players an update on the current state of the EQ team.

As of right now the entire San Diego offices are closed. As you can imagine this may directly impact the response time to many of your requests. I do hope that you all understand that we are doing everything we can right now to make sure that our families are safe and many of the teams members are staying with others due to the large scale evacuations. There are people on the team that have homes in some of the worst hit areas and they have not been allowed back into their neighborhoods to check on their houses.

My internet connection has been down since the weekend and it is just now restored along with my cable TV. As you could imagine, without the internet or cable getting information is challenging to say the least. I live in a city that was evacuated and although I am at home, both of my cars is packed and parked outside ready to go at a moments notice. As it stands, all of SOE senior management is working to make sure that we don't have anyone that is homeless or without essentials.

We understand that we provide a service and it is important to us to get back to the office. Right now we are making sure that our families and friends are safe from the fires and as of right now many of the fires are not even contained.

I will keep you all updated with the developments and my prayers and wishes go out to everyone that has been touched by these fires. I wish everyone the best.

To all of you suffering from this terrible tragedy, you're in our thoughts and prayers. EverQuest is just a game. Your lives are so much more important! We will still be here to support you.

To donate through the Red Cross, go to http://www.sdarc.org

Please don't forget to pray for the many firefighters risking their lives out there! Some are working as much as 26 hours of straight firefighting. Keep up the good work and come home safely. We love you!

As many of the other posters have already stated - real life comes first. Do what you need to do to protect your employees and make sure that they are taken care of. After life settles down, then you can concentrate again on the game.

We will be here - you take care of yourselves so you can be here too.
Hats off to you all in San Diego

The Red Cross is accepting donations and blood if any care to donate, from what I understand things are stretched pretty thin as far as the blood supply is concerned.

I'm not sure if they are in need of cots and bedding for those evacuated to Qualcom center, the news just said that the number of people there is about 10,000 now.

Personally I take my hat off to all of you out there in San Diego, from reading on the other lists you're pitching in offering shelter and a place in your homes for other members of the team, even though some of you are on notice you may have to leave as well. I can't remember any company pitching in and helping each other the way you all have done.

Don't worry about us here, we're still going to be here when you get back and settled and we can wait for any updates you have planned, just take care of yourselves first

I hope that everyone is ok and that all the SOE team is ok along with all of their families. Does anyone know if there is a donation program set up yet to help them out??

Real Life first...Game is a distant second.
Do what needs to be done, and know that the rest of us are crossing our fingers that everything works out for the best.

Do what needs to be done on the homefront first. Your lives, your families, and your homes mean more than some online game. I am sure many SOE customers feel the same way. My heart goes out to all at SOE and those who are living this tragedy firsthand. I have been through a disaster myself and it is a trying experience.
