Patch Notes for September 5, 2007

Here is the patch message from this morning's patch:

*** Highlights ***

- Legends of Norrath: Legends of Norrath: Oathbound is now live!

Legends of Norrath is an online-only trading card game, based on the richly-detailed sword-and-sorcery world of Norrath from the massively multiplayer online role-playing games EverQuest and EverQuest II. EQ and EQII players have been awarded a complimentary random Oathbound digital starter deck. To play, navigate the EQ icon to Legends of Norrath or simply type /TCG.  Visit http://legendsofnorrath.station.sony.com for more information.

- Claim Window: A new window has been added for /claim subscription rewards. When the command is used, a UI window will popup.

- The EverQuest window can now be sized by simply dragging the border on the window!

*** Items ***

- The Fan Faire item, Stones of Fortune, can now be claimed.
- The Discordant Seal of Health has had its focus changed to one that is more appropriate.  Since this is a slight downgrade, if you feel you no longer want this, Go to Caerlyna in the bazaar and give her the Discordant Seal of Health and she will give you an Ambleshift's Amazing Automated Amalgamator with the parts used to make it inside, and you can do whatever you wish with the parts. **Be sure you have a bag spot available**
- Changed the icon and in-game representation of the following items. For the ones that can be pickup up as a ground spawn, this will change how they look on the ground: Tomato, Green Apple, Straight Oak Treant Branch, Dry Treant Branch, Straight Treant Branch, Fallen Straight Oak Treant Branch, Fallen Dry Treant Branch, Fallen Straight Treant Branch, Windwillow Branch, Fallen Rotwood Treant Branch, Fallen Windwillow Treant Branch, and Fallen Grovewalker Treant Branch.
- Corrected the spelling of the Eminent Impression Book.
- Made Gothic Ringmail usable by Drakkin.
- Corrected stats on Expert Crafted Gloves of the Attackers.
- Removed an erroneous augment slot from the Hand of Glory.
- Shadowknights can now use the Gloomsteel Blade.
- Corrected an issue with several Depths of Darkhollow skills that could not be learned by right-clicking.
- Corrected the required level on the Fabled Crystallized Shadow Tunic.
- Corrected the required casting level on Sphere of Air's effect.
- Certain clickable items from Veeshan's Peak have their recast times reduced.
- Changed the "Pained Memories" spell to use consuming thickener.
- Removed augments that fit into multiple socket types from type 3 sockets.
- All silk armor usable by pure caster classes will now have a graphic if it previously didn't.
- The Last Blood, Bazu Stone, Discordant Stone, and Chronal Stone have all had their lore flag removed.

*** Quests & Events ***

- Xanuusus is now a little more informative about his vague poem.

*** Spells ***

- Sea Snake Venom is now curable with effects that remove poison counters.
- Modified the Frenzied Devastation and Prolonged Destruction AAs. Mana preservation effects should again reduce the mana cost of using these AAs although now the mana cost will be variable instead of fixed (but should average out to the same cost.) Additionally the increased mana cost should only apply to direct damage spells and the ability is limited to a set number of casts with a longer duration rather than a short period of time as before.

*** NPC ***

- The Casino operator will now make sure you do not have the Vibrating Gauntlets of Infuse and the Vibrating Hammer before awarding you that item.
- Fixed a bug preventing the door into the Shade King's room in Frostcrypt from opening.
- Guards in Commonlands will now attack pumas and lions. Not only will this make the area a bit safer, but it should also improve the spider population a bit for those seeking their silk.

*** AA ***

- Increased the hitpoints of the swarm pets summoned by ranks 4 and 5 of the Shaman AA Spirit Call so that the swarm pets from rank 4 would not be killed faster than the swarm pets from rank 3.
- Removed the AA "Frenzied Defense" while we continue to investigate issues with this ability.

*** Zones ***

- Re-enabled Manastone usage in the following revamped zones: Lavastorm, West Freeport, East Freeport, North Desert of Ro, and South Desert of Ro.

*** UI ***

- New -

EQUI_ClaimWnd.xml

- Changed -

EQUI_OptionsWindow.xml
EQUI_VideoModesWnd.xml
EQUI_AAWindow.xml
EQUI_BarterSearchWnd.xml
EQUI_BarterWnd.xml
EQUI_Inventory.xml
EQUI_ItemDisplay.xml
EQUI_TCGStartupWnd.xml
EQUI.xml

*** Miscellaneous ***

- We fixed a number of issues with Legends of Norrath within EverQuest.
- Fixed a problem with transformation molds where items transformed could not be linked in the chat window.
- Weapon procs will now only fire on the player's main target.
- You now need to be in full screen mode to change your resolution size under the options menu.  While in windowed mode, you can simply drag the window border to resize the window.

Sorry your spell component got nerfed, but what the hell does that have to do with LoN or anything talked about in this thread??
Nice one...

So, I guess Sony is going to release money making diversions like LoN, instead of solid game fixes or content. I like the soloable LDoN idea. Here's another: How about solo progression quests for the older expansions like PoP and Gates/Omens.

On most servers there are one or two solid raiding guilds anymore. Most of the hardcore, raiding type players have left for newer games where the population is higher. Even if you have the time to join one of these guilds, good luck getting any progression done in anything but the newest expansion. I just get tired of paying for content that is untouchable to the light / moderate player. I was in a raiding guild for a number of years. I know you won't see 50% of the game unless you're in that type of guild. Hey Sony, stop dangling shiny baubles in front of our eyes. If you want players back, make more solo/duo/group options with decent rewards in the game.

Honestly, People like you make me laugh. Could you be more blind? Could you not see the DoN missions and vendors from TBS that are easy and fun? could you noyt see the starting zones also added to The serpents spine expansion for lower levels? They are making Solo/duo/group stuff, but when u got the last majoryity of your players raiding u gotta give them conent too. So Shutup next time and actually look at the facts.
Nice one...

This is the attraction of WoW.No waiting for 3 hours to never get a group and TONS of solo type quests that yield you good gear.
Unfortunatly EQ dont have the population anymore to support groups other than the latest expansions and the handfull of hotzones.Getting things done like LDoN's,DoN or DoDH spell missions are a nightmare but not impossible.Just takes a couple years is all.lol
Nice one...

They don't have to make it like WoW. Just loosen the reigns a bit on the content. I'd still like the game to be difficult, just not have to rely on 50 other ppl to progress thru most expansions. Alternate solo or group progression wouldn't take a ton of work, most likely less work than it took to create LoN. Lets face it, The only reason EQ got so huge was because it was the first and only MMO out for many years. Don't get me wrong, it was a great game when there was the population to support it.

Sony's refusal to adapt to the changing face of MMO's is what will kill off EQ. It's seems this is what they are striving for. The upcoming Secrets of Faydwer is supposed to be a large raid style expansion. Go figure. I see more server mergers on the horizon.

A useless game that does nothing for EQ at all. How about opening up LDoN zones for solo since it is near impossible to get groups for it anymore, huh?

Almost can fully agree ...
About use and sense of the implemented gamefeature .. well anyone has decide this on his own .. BUT

Opening the LDoNs at least for 2 instead of 3 players would GREATLY increase the gameplay!!!
Sony just dont get it, that most of that nonRPGin people out there only want to farm new zones of new exp. They just dont get it, that this is a MMORPG!!! And thats more than just lvlin within 2 days to the next available lvlrestriction and have all new fkn new items of new zones!!
Me too, as mtcards i guess the same, try to get into the LDoNs for months now, without being able, because NOONE still goes there, because there are "old" zones. I maximaly get another person (for my luck a friend of mine) to follow me .. so that still lacks of the needed 3rd ... "(§/()"§

Mtcards .. I feel with you .. really!

Well finally Sony does something other than release a new expansion, to be honest though I wish they had released another expansion. This is by far the dumbest idea they could've come up with. What the heck were they thinking, a card game within a game? C'mon I know it has been said over and over and over but they could enhance the game by fixing quests that never have worked right or they could have added a few NPC's here and there to zones that already exist. It's not like my opinion matters though I mean I only make the game possible by paying the fee every month. Hey SONY why don't you listen to what WE want !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If I heard right the new expansion is coming out in November and you might see a change in the hot zone at that time. They change the hot zone about every 6 months or so.

You do not get your opinion heard because this site is not run by Sony :)

Nodyin, on the Sony forums wrote:
I'm sorry the next set of zones is "late." By choosing to have the zones go out with new items and mechanics each time I have certain things I have to wait for to make Hot Zones. I have the next set picked out and a cool idea for the zones that I'm working on. Depending on when we patch over the next 6 weeks or so will determine when they go live.

So, the new hot zones have been chosen and will go live soon.

EQ and EQII players have been awarded a complimentary random Oathbound digital starter deck.

So what was this comment about. We get a free deck of cards to play with?
