Mission Additions and Various Adjustments

From PlayOnline.com:

The forthcoming version update brings us to the climax of the Aht Urhgan missions, while introducing several groundbreaking adjustments to Einherjar, the Chocobo Hot and Cold game, Besieged, and more!

The following is a sample of what awaits adventurers in the next version update:

Treasures of Aht Urghan Missions

The final battle is about to begin, and the fate of the Empire is in your hands! Join forces with companions new and old to unlock the mysteries hidden in this final chapter of the epic Aht Urhgan missions!

It is recommended that players who have not yet completed "Playing the Part" avoid viewing the aforementioned link.

Besieged

To oppose the overwhelming power of the level 8 beastmen forces, Al Zahbi's five Serpent Generals have spent the previous months honing their skills. In addition, the Empire will be putting into effect a decree which allows additional distribution of temporary items after a certain number of invaders have been defeated. Finally, if the beastmen forces are not defeated by the Empire, or capture the Astral Candesence, they will automatically retreat one Earth hour after their arrival in Al Zahbi.

Einherjar

In an effort to lower the difficulty level of Einherjar, the HP of all monsters in the Hazhalm Testing Grounds will be reduced in the upcoming version update.
We will make further adjustments should this challenging area continue to prove excessively difficult.

Assault Mission "Nyzul Isle Investigation"

Currently, the data for the highest floor you have investigated in Nyzul Isle will be deleted after defeating the monsters on Floor 100. Unlike with other floors, this removes the possibility of retrying the floor in an attempt to obtain the treasure you seek.
As of the next version update, the data will still be deleted after clearing Floor 100, but in exchange for the loss of data, the chance for obtaining the armor pieces will be increased to 100%.
While clearing to Floor 100 is no easy task, we are sure there are heroes out there that are up to the challenge!

The Chocobo Hot and Cold Game

Chocobo Abilities
Resting your chocobo for thirty six hours (Earth time) after playing the Chocobo Hot and Cold game will allow you to dig twice more, as well as increase your chances to "hit the jackpot" the next time you play the game.
Furthermore, chocobos of players who succeed at finding treasure in any area three times in a row will temporarily gain the "Treasure Finder" ability. Chocobos that already have "Treasure Finder" will have the effect of the ability temporarily doubled.

Chocobucks
A new reward will soon be available in the form of vouchers that can be exchanged for chocobucks, with the chocobuck reward varying with the difficulty of the area.
The vouchers will always be found inside the treasure chests in addition to the standard rewards.

Limit Break Quests

With the current level of advancement of the majority of the player base, it has become increasingly difficult to find fellow adventurers who have yet to complete the limit break quests. In an effort to alleviate the woes of newer players, the limit break quests from level 50 to level 60 will have their difficulty reduced in the following manner:

Level 50 "In Defiant Challenge"
Drop rates for the quest items will be improved.

Level 55 "Atop the Highest Mountains"
The relative strength of the quest monsters will be reduced so that a party of six level 51 characters will be able to defeat them.

My 2 cents

This update definitely seems like a good one, but I do have my 2 cents to add in there too. To the poster who said they need to make besieged offer a better type of reward, I agree 100% on that.. I hear lvl 8 besieged is something like 1400 exp or something and takes anywhere from 1-4 hours to do.. I just see my time better spent sitting in the mire soloing because I can solo 1.4k faster than it takes to beat besieged, plus I get drops which equals money. I went to maybe 1 or 2 besieged when it was first introduced, but due to horrendous lag, I decided it really wasn't worth my time. Sure, we get to keep the AC (and seeing as though it took 3 days to get it back last time) I see how much it improves hunting. Sure the mire's empty, but it also takes close to 45 minutes to get to the camp.. The exp isn't reduced by much, and the imperial standing loss is bearable, but it's just that boat ride to get there is just too time consuming. Making it a joke is one way to ensure it won't happen too often because people really don't care to go and get it back after it's already taken. I saw countless attempts, but they sat at 2-5/??? for at least 2 hours before they finally gave up. So yea, to get more people to actually go to besieged, offer more of a reward because most people's time is better spent farming or soloing, not going AFK in besieged to get some EXP..

Second is the final missions in the Aht Urhgan story line, seem like they are kind of rushing it because of WotG coming out this winter.. I haven't made it to 38 so I'm not sure if its really that rushed, but it definately seems that way to me.. I'm up to AU 22 and the only thing I couldn't solo was "The Black Coffin".. Hell, ZM was short, but it wasn't easy.. The quests just seem like a complete joke if you ask me, but hey, it's their game..

Last is the increased drop rate and nerf on the boreal mobs. I'm leveling up a 2nd rdm who's sitting at 43 right now and when I heard about this little change, I was pretty happy.. I knew I would be able to solo G1, but I also knew it could take an extremely long time (Papyrus) if luck was against me. G2 was going to be a little wierd though. I figured I should be able to solo it, but honestly, I've never tried.. Now that a pt of 6 51's are going to be able to defeat it, I'm positive I'll be able to solo it now so I definately like the idea so I don't have to waste an entire day doing both G1 and then another half a day doing G2 unless I couldn't solo it.. Sure, I understand people are kinda miffed that they are doing it, but like everyone said.. The people who started years ago are in endgame and that takes up a lot of time so it's very hard to find a few 75's to decimate the NM's for you.. Doing it this way just saves the people of a lot of waiting for high lvl help.. The game is older, it's what would have happened eventually.

No real comment on chocobo's because as far as I'm concerned, chocobo raising is just not for me.. Wasting 19 days to find out your bird is yellow when you want a specific color just doesn't work for me, even if it does only take checking it for 5 minutes every day..

it's not that the higher levels don't wanna help it's that most of the high levels live in white gate while the lower level players live in jeuno, fail to realize that, but it's true, i found all other g1 drops were easy to get except papyrus, and a group of 51 killing thos mobs in g2 well i say at least lvl 55, 51 too weak, beseiged nerf i don't mind lol, i just hate the clone of hnm going around killing players, but i did see cerberus clone and khimara clone go down a few times, in ragnarok, and the end of aht urghan missions, i wonder what will be the reward?
beseiged
# Aug 04 2007 at 5:56 AM Rating: Decent
instead of nerfing beseiged they should give players more incentive to participate. i've done some but would be more willing to fight in beseiged if the reward was more than just some xp. or at least make it an xp scroll that i can use on a job that has some trouble getting pts instead of a job that is already leveled up to the point that i can survive a lvl 8 beseiged. just my opinion but i think more people would get involved if the 2 hours it takes paid off a little better.

Oh, and about making the lvl caps easier to get past, we all know what a pain paper was, so don't try to be mad about this fix. G2 however, I know it wasn't meant for lvl 75 to do it for you, for i remember getting an alliance when i did it and most of us were 51-55. I also remember duo'ing all 3 as 70 rdm with a 75 nin. These 3 mobs arent nearly as hard as people make them out to be. They are when you just go in with the "lets through 18 bodies at it and hope it dies" attitude. if you go in wit knowledge about the nm and a sound strategy, they are like any other nm. I just think SE needs to be careful just how much it "dumbs down" this game, and how much it makes it not necessary to use teamwork. If we wanted an easy game where we can solo all the time, we would play "The game that must not be named".

Beseiged would be much easier if people weren't so lazy tbh. Fairy loses to lvl 8 after we lose all of our npc's , then generals. This usually takes 3-4 lvl 8 beseiged. Better solution than nerfing the mobs: get off of our lazy bums and rescue some prisoners between beseiged fights. More npc's = more temp items in case you still didn't know. The few times i have tried to organize rescue runs, i have gotten little to no response. In the process of leveling thf so i can just go die trying to do it solo :p .

Some idiots thinking that the level 55 limit break is too easy when they do it with a level 75 job are just noobs full stop. Try doing it with a job at level 54 before the update and tell me if it is still too easy. These were not meant to be done with level 75 players.
SE needs to think
# Aug 03 2007 at 2:00 AM Rating: Default
SE needs to make nm mobs drop items 100%. I think it would end all the bs in end game and endless camping and cheating. When SE reduced the amount of gil NPC's give, it just encouraged more RMT activity. The harder they make things to obtain, the more cheating and hogging are going to happen. As it is, getting something done that needs to be or quest wise is overly difficult and that is fine. I am not saying to make FFXI into WoW, I am saying make the hard work pay out. Like in Anarchy Online, you work hard, you get rewarded. It's not that way in this game. It's all about luck and neglecting your life in order to get that reward lol. And I think not being able to be a jocky in the chocobo races is lame. It's also about time that SE is starting to make better changes in the game. We shouldn't have to depend on level 75 players to get things done.

I already see many problems with this. its kinda obvious.

I think SE is finally noticing that there are less lower level players then ever and the higher level people just arn't willing to help. While way back when it was rather easy to find a group of 75s or so to go do the limit caps it just isn't so anymore. For the most part higher levels will be doing all the new end game content and wont be willing to help these new lower levels, and lets face it without a good bit of help those caps were rather hard. With this update the lower levels can finally do thier quests with other lower levels, instead of waiting around for a few friendly 75s to show up.

I for one am glad that SE is making all these old quests easier. The lower levels can enjoy the content ment for them without having the hassle of waiting for hours on end.

I think most people would enjoy attacking the game more than praising it. It's what's in right now. :P

Seriously, I can't wait for the new missions. The last it looks like. Minor point, but I hope it ends on something nice like 45 or 50. The final boss music sounds awesome anywho. ^_^;
So it's finally happened...

Adjusting the levels on the Boreal mobs? Please. They're easy as cake the way it is now.

I think there are other matters that need SE's attention moreso than adjusting limit break mobs...

And for the record: If people are indeed complaining that these mobs are too hard, then they suck. Period.

If you have multiple level 75 jobs, yes it is easy as cake. This update isn't for you and in no way affects you. It's for the poor group of people who can't find help because everyone else is in endgame. I actually welcome these changes because I help with both quests frequently.

As for the Besieged, I agree that they just made it impossible to lose. I sense another update soon.

they will retreat after 1 hr of arrvial? thats nerfing besieged.
1 because no forces can take the AC (astral candy) on 1hr.
2 they should just reduce the lvl of the mobs in besieged.
3 they should fix the lag so we can actually see the generals.

only thing good from it is the extra items.

They're 'nerfing' besieged because all you noobs can't keep control of your AC. Perhaps you should come to Siren and find out why we're still undefeated.

you can start seeing the long winning streaks across all servers again. most beastmen armies tend to take 90 min to 2 hours to claim the astral candy right now.

Strange.. I tried to edit my post.. and it was taking me to the guy's post I replyed to... anyway I meant in the sentence "but for those having a hard time finding people to help.." I was going to add, it is definately welcomed change.

anyway that is all :P

For the most part it seems like a changed that doesn't seem necessary, but for those having a hard time finding people to help.. I remember when I needed the first limit cap quest done 2 years ago the drop rate was horrible on the items. I'm glad that it was changed.. but it certainly did take awhile for it to happen :P

(I will need to do these quests over again soon too, so maybe I am biased D: lol)
