Mysterious Guild Wars 2 Picture Becomes Clearer

The mysterious Guild Wars 2 picture we posted about a few days ago is becoming clearer. It looks like this mysterious photo is a Guild Wars 2 teaser and will experience periodic Twitter updates, each one of which will make the picture a little bit more understandable. The new image was posted via Guild Wars 2's twitter today.

This update seems to be a mage character, in the center of the painting, using some sort of lighting spell. But who is she? And who is the big guy behind her with the axe?

But the big questions still remain: What is its significance? Is it future box art? Is it a depiction of new characters? We'll keep you posted as more clues arise.

GDC 2010: Hands-On with SW:TOR's Trooper Class

There’s nothing like the feeling of a warm blaster rifle nestled in your hands. The hot metal is a reassuring reminder that you’re still alive after a harrowing exchange of fire between you and your enemy, and no other class in Star Wars: The Old Republic treats the hot blaster with as much respect as the Trooper. At this year’s GDC, the staff at ZAM had the opportunity to go hands-on with this DPS demolitionist, and we came away still smelling the gritty smoke of this class’ explosive tendencies.

After sitting down at a computer in LucasArts’ San Francisco complex, a cadre of BioWare developers gave us the run down of what we would be trying to achieve during our time with the game. Much like the demos that ran at the latter half of 2009, our character would be in the level 6-7 range, bedecked with upper echelon armor (to ensure that the less skilled press could see the majority of the prepared content), and would progress through a pair of missions doled out by nearby quest givers. Everyone could progress through the content at their own pace, but – being the foremost purveyors of MMO knowledge on the net – the ZAM crew sat down with the Trooper and really took the class for a thorough drive.

More details on the festivities will be revealed soon.

New Chain Armor Shown; Newbie Protection is Live

The Darkfall art team confirmed last month that it is currently working on improving or completely redoing all armor and player models in the game. We got a preview of the new human female model a few weeks ago, and the team just posted a preview of the chain armor for human males and females.

In addition, a patch was implemented today that adds the new newbie protection feature to the game. The optional system prevents new users from being attacked in the racial starting areas, but only lasts for a few hours. You can read the patch notes after the jump.

Blizzard Reveals Female Monk, Barbarian

Diablo III may not be scheduled to launch until at least 2011, but Blizzard has been busy updating the game's site with female versions of a couple of the game's classes. The female barbarian was revealed today, while the female monk was unveiled last week.

These may not be the most amazing reveals for eager Diablo fans, but it's good to see that the official site is being updated with more than just fan art. Aside from some new screenshots that were added in January, these female models are the first major updates to the site since September 2009.
