Nexon Brings Shakespeare to Mabinogi

Nexon has announced that the world of Mabinogi will be adding a touch of Shakespeare in the way of upcoming content updates. Players will be treated to new Shakespearean content, the first of which will be Hamlet. There will be all new Theatre Missions as well as the addition of a Destiny system. Players can look forward to new skills, updates to Shadow Missions and an item upgrade system as part of this update, which is due out later this month.

Nexon has released a teaser trailer as well as a video of the famous "to be or not to be" scene as done by Mabinogi. Both videos can be viewed after the jump.

Mabinogi Shows Support for Starlight Foundation

Mabinogi is teaming up with The Starlight Children's Foundation to help children suffering from serious ailments. Players can purchase a special in-game item called the Starlight Scepter knowing that 50% of the proceeds will go directly to Starlight.

In addition, Mabinoji is donating 35% of each sale of the Mabinoji Soundtrack on iTunes.

The Starlight Children's Foundation mission is in helping seriously ill children and their families cope with their pain, fear and isolation through entertainment, education and family activities. So pick up a scepter while in-game and everytime you see it glowing, know that a child's life has been helped by your purchase.

Mabinogi launches "Goddess of Light" expansion

Mabinogi's latest update, "The Goddess of Light," has just been released, and fans will be happy with the new city, Tara, the capital city of the Aliech Kingdom. Specifically with this update comes some new abilities for players to use, and, of course, with the introduction of a new city comes all of those neat activities to keep players busy. Jousting, for example, will be making its debut, as well as the fun-filled Tara Fashion Contest and... Wine making? That's right, players will be able to make wine and if their wine is just right (keep that acidity low and that freshness high!), they might just grow to become the greatest wine baron of all time!

Finally, with this update also comes a new Auction House in Tara for players to bid against each other for rare items, as well as some cash shop items in the form of Arabian Nights themed costumes and a flying magic carpet. Check it all out at the Mabinogi website!

Mabinogi Introduces Farming and more!

Maybe this is some sort of ominous sign of the imminent invasion of Farmville into the MMORPG industry, or maybe Nexon just really feels that Mabinogi just really needed some kind of farming aspect - either way, Mabinogi fans will now be able to pursue their dreams of becoming an in-game farmer with Mabinogi's new content update. Players will be able to rent their own plot of land for a week and they will be able to grow crops to use or sell for a nice profit. In order to prevent giant farm expansions, however, the team does note that plots of land are limited, so pick and choose what you grow carefully!

Alongside the introduction of Farmland comes some more standard fare, with the introduction of three new Shadow Missions, each offering gladiator-style death matches with ferocious monsters known as "Fomors." Finally, Alchemy received two new skills in the form of Flame Burst and Sand Burst, both of which do pretty much what you think they do, although special crystals will be required to use these skills. Happy farming Mabinogians!

Mabinogi: Getting Old, Or Ageing Just Fine?

As a dude who would, eventually, like to have sampled every style of MMORPG in the market, you can imagine there are times where I can get swamped by the sheer number of games that I'd like to try out. More specifically, if you take a peek at this little text file I have on my desktop, suitably titled "MMOs I will play," you'll see that I have about 10 MMO titles in the queue, vying for my attention. Sadly enough, Mabinogi, a sandbox style MMORPG that I dabbled in over the weekend, was not on my MMORPG to-do list and, therefore, I am unable to delete it from 'the queue,' knowing that the burden is alleviating itself. This time, however, I didn't mind forgoing the queue to check out this fun little title from Nexon.

I originally snagged the suggestion to play Mabinogi from Colin Brennan's article on "Five Free to play MMOs that are ahead of the class." In it, Mabinogi ranks third overall, after World of Warcraft clone Runes of Magic and SOE's F2P juggernaut, Free Realms. What made me really interested in this game, however, was just how sand…boxy it was advertised to be, and, to a large extent, I found that this was true! You can do whatever you want in Mabinogi!

Mabinogi Announces "Summer Of Fun" Events!

As the summer comes, so do the in-game events! Mabinogi has announced that there will be a number of Summer events happening in the world of Mabinogi. They have announced that there will be an in-game 'Independence Day," which will allow players to purchase fireworks and promises add rewards "and fun" to the Mabinogi players' adventures. As well, players will be able to get Hawaiian-style shirts and shaved ice snacks. Finally, players can purchase an 'Aloha' card where they can start new characters, or have their characters reborn with Beach shirts, shorts and sandals! The event is set to last until July 9th, and players can read the full press release below.
