La Tale's... Tale Of Nothing Special

Every so often I'll run into an MMO that, despite being made well, fails in its attempts to capture my attention. On an equal note, however, there are other MMOs that appear to be rather shallow and antiquated, but I find myself drawn to them like a moth to a candle flame. The game that I am speaking of today, called 'La Tale,' actually falls more into the latter category than the former, but you shouldn't let that dissuade you from trying the game out yourself.

I first started playing La Tale a short while ago, when I was on the lookout to devour any 2D style game I could find that was Free to Play. In the end, after having burned through a few of these 2D side-scrollers, I have finally come to two conclusions about this genre: one, they are all very similar in nature, and two, I found that I actually like them. In this way, La Tale was no exception, and I found that I enjoyed my time in this game - even if I did know that I would get very bored with this in about a week's time.

Aeria Games Will Publish La Tale In Europe

Looks like Aeria Games is picking up another blockbuster MMORPG to publish in Europe, as they have announced that they will be publishing the ultra-cute anime-style MMO "La Tale." Developed by Actoz Soft, La Tale is a whimsical 2-D side-scrolling MMORPG that's reminiscient of Maple Story, but seems to have a lot more depth in graphics and gameplay. European La Tale fans should be very excited to hear of this development, as La Tale will be joining Aeria Games' long list of well supported MMORPGs like Twelve Sky 2, Shaiya, Last Chaos, Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine Online, and Hello Kitty Online.

PvP Fight Arena Added to La Tale

La Tale, a whimsical 2D MMO with simple gameplay for all ages, has just received a new addition to spice things up: a Player vs. Player Fight Arena.

Players can now access the Fight Arena and compete in free-for-all battles that support two, four or eight players at a time. Each player enters the Fight Arena with increased statistics and health for an intensified combat experience. Players gain points for knocking other players out, but they must constantly be ready, as knocked-out players can re-spawn with full health to rejoin the battle. Bonus boxes filled with power-ups add an exciting twist to PvP combat. After the battle, contenders receive points that can be spent on special items.

From the description it sounds similar to Super Smash Bros. Brawl. So if you're a La Tale fan who's always wanted to PvP, hop into the Fight Arena and try it out. You can read the full announcement after the jump.

New Zones Introduced in La Tale

We recently interviewed Producer Ross Parks on the success of La Tale, and he mentioned the game will receive updates on a regular basis. Well, it's only been two months since the game's launch you can already explore some brand new areas, including a new city.

Players can explore new areas and brave new challenges. Ves, the newest city, offers beautiful scenery inspired by Indian culture and architecture. Orca Beach and the Jungle are as lush as they are dangerous. Plus, for the truly brave, the Ruin of Ktuka offers great treasures and secrets to those who can survive its challenges.

You can also try out the new LaDeck system, which uses Gold Darts of Luck to win prizes. The full press release regarding these announcements can be found after the jump.

La Interview with Ross Parks

One of the things I enjoy about this industry, particularly in the MMO space, is the variety of different games available to try at any given time. While I'm not generally a fan of most F2P (Free-2-Play) games on a personal level, I've seen the audience that games like La Tale have and during my time within the game, I was bombarded with social interaction. We had the opportunity to sit down with Ross Parks, the Producer of La Tale a few weeks ago to talk about the title in it's released state.

Allakhazam : Before we get started here, congratulations on your successful launch of La Tale!

Ross : Thank you! We're excited about La Tale and the great response it's received so far, and glad for the opportunity to share some details about the game with your readers.

Allakhazam : Can you tell us a little bit about La Tale?

El Segundo, Calif.- Sept. 18, 2008- OGPlanet, an innovative provider of multiplayer online games, today announced the launch of side-scrolling MMORPG La Tale. In addition to being OGPlanet's first 2D, side-scrolling MMORPG, La Tale is also unique in that it is the first game that OGPlanet is launching to a worldwide audience. Unlike OGPlanet's other, North American-based games, La Tale will be available to players in every country that does not currently have their own version of the game.

"La Tale is a perfect addition to our portfolio of multiplayer games and a great first step into the international market," said Ross Park, the producer of La Tale. "The depth of the La Tale world, with its diverse environments, charming characters and engaging gameplay, will please OGPlanet fans old and new."

La Tale's whimsical art style and detailed 2D worlds bring a lighthearted touch to the MMORPG genre, and have won it a large following in Asia. Simple gameplay and intuitive quests make La Tale accessible for players of all ages, while the immersive storyline with a variety of characters, enemies, and challenges keep the game intriguing. Like all of OGPlanet's massively multiplayer games, La Tale is completely free to play, with optional micro-transaction items purchasable in the OGPlanet shop.
