The new Nemean Wolf mount is now available in GodsWar Online. It joins the Boar as the second mount available in the MMORPG based in ancient Greece. It's also the grand prize in the GodsWar Wheel of Fortune, which players can have a spin on for 100 GW points. The wolf is certainly the most covetable prize on the wheel, and there's a guarantee: if you spin the wheel 30 times and don't win the Wolf, you get it on your 31st spin.

As we reported, the mounts are the newest feature in GodsWar, and not only boar and wolf mounts are planned. There will also be horses, deer and mounts that are based on more fantastic creatures. All the mounts, including the Wolf, are upgradeable and recommended for use in PvP gameplay. Head over to the GodsWar page to see more.

In a recent developers diary the GodsWar Online team announced that, after much discussion and debate, mounts are coming to GodsWar Online. The Parnitha boar, a giant wolf, a horse and even a deer will be thrown into the battle mix soon. The decision came after the developers asked the GodsWar players if they wanted their ancient Greek characters to ride with style and the players answered with a resounding "yes!"

Some members of the GWO dev team had been arguing that mounts were never seen in ancient Greek wars, and even infantry were scarce because most ancient Greek warriors fought with shields and spears, much like in the movie 300. Since mounts weren't really historically accurate, they should be left out of the game, they argued. The mount proponents countered with references of elephant mounts cited at the battle of Thermopylae (also seen in the movie 300). But when it came down to it, the fans get what they want, and the fans want mounts.

The planned mounts will be upgradeable and the upgrades will change the look of the mount. The boar will get bigger muscles and huge tusks and the horse will get gold armor that protects its vulnerable spots. There's also talk of featuring even more bizarre creatures as mounts.  Mini-Kraken anyone?  The mounts still have a long way to go in the development process, but when they get here, players can expect to have full on mounted PvP battles against each other. Will they throw in that battle elephant they referenced? To check out more ancient Greek MMO fun go to the GodsWar Online homepage.

Open beta for GodsWar Online, a 3D free-to-play MMO from IGG, is set to begin tomorrow at 11 a.m. EDT. The latest version of the game used for this test will feature a new pet system and an Easter event.

In addition, a new server will be launched that is named after a Greek Olympian god. You can vote on the name of the server in this thread on the official forum.

Instead of moving GodsWar Online into closed beta, IGG has decided to undergo a second alpha test first. The second alpha is set to begin tomorrow, Jan. 8, at 9 p.m. EST. If you're planning on playing, you can download the new client today right here.

With more brand-new content, game version 1.85 will be adopted in this test. For example, we have improved the guild system and guild quests, added a suit system, and beautified special gear effects.

IGG will not be deleting players' data after this alpha test is complete, so now's a good time to jump into GodsWar Online if you're interested in playing. To obtain an activation code, all you need to do is ask in this thread and have a post count of more than five.

IGG has released a new trailer for GodsWar Online, its first foray into 3D MMORPGs. This video focuses on the class skills of the priest. Here's some information on priests straight from an IGG press release:

Priests are holy men who have the powers of Heal, Area Heal, Mana Shield, Dripstone, Holy Light and Stalagmite Skills. As the envoys of the Gods, they can heal injured friends as well as releasing teammates from bad effects, thus priests play a key role in a team. Likewise, even though they may be in considerable danger when venturing by themselves, they can also easily defeat enemies with their water element force.

You can download the video here. If you'd like to learn more about priests, warriors, champions or mages, you can check out the class introduction page here.
