Besides there's more women than men in the field, so chances are good I'll still be moving stuff even if we get a new minion. Smiley: glare

Get the cane, add a little limp and stop enabling womanly helplessness (unless of course she's prego).
Oh these gals aren't helpless by any means, still for the most part they aren't the kind of women who you see lifting and moving heavy objects. Really even on the male end, they aren't the kind of guys who really lift and move heavy objects for a living. We're all in science for a reason perhaps. Nevertheless if you're winded after carrying a 4L jug of high purity water across the hall you're not my first choice for moving a 300lb, million dollar instrument.

Yeah, better safe than sorry. Women are bad drivers too - so don't let them do that either.
No no, science says they're better drivers. If anything we should reconsider allowing males under the age of 25 drive. Women on average can't lift as much as men though.

Ok sure. But if you're telling me that to get a 300lb multi-million dollar machine (likely one that's sensitive to movement) from here to there that you simply slinging it over your shoulder and he-man it around the laboratory - you're likely the one that is doing it wrong and jeopardizing the functionality of the equipment.

But hey, I believe you. It's a laboratory, and even though your employer may hire women to do the same job as you - don't let them do it.

If people can move stuff they can help with the moving stuff, it just tends not to happen. This isn't the military any anything, we don't usually get the kind of applicants where you're in awe of their physical prowess. More likely you get a look that says "you want me to do what?" when the idea of lifting or moving something comes up.

Well you're all scientists, not exactly the people known for lifting heavy objects.

NASA is pretty well known for lifting heavy objects.

Seems they could grow something, or an army of somethings, in one of them petri dishes that could be trained to move stuff.

You want an army of trained steaks to move your things?

Brings a whole new meaning to the term 'meat head'.

The lab grown steak cost like half a million dollars and tasted pretty bad since they can't grow fat yet. But who knows, maybe in a decade or two they'll get there and we can eat all the crazy meats we want.
