I've noticed the diffrent hairstyles have different personalities. I originaly had the one with long shoulder length bangs (Elvaan Female) and she was super uptight. I got a new npc today, the one with two pigtails (Elvaan also) and she seemed peppy and jovial, even her way of saying the same things as the previous npc were more upbeat.

ive only summoned my npc 2 times the end of the 2nd time it said nothing new but the next day she said something about jobs

i think the jobs thing is dependant on how long you have had your signal pearl for

*Confirmed how to aquire the new 'Jobs'*

There's been some controversy on how this is done, so I've tested and can say that this is CONFIRMED.

The NPC will aquire it's new jobs after the 3rd successful summoning. I came to this conclusion by both my own testing and reading other testimonials.

Today before taking my NPC out for the 3rd time I went to the Rendezvous Point and everything was still the same as yesterday. No new options or armor.

I took her out and after she left after the usual 15 minutes, I headed straight back and now the job options are there.

So we can all safely say that it is confirmed after the 3rd usage of your NPC that is when you get the new jobs

Hope that helps everyone ^^ I'll keep everyone posted of new developments.

Heres some of my personal observations from using the NPC:

All of this happened today while I was leveling my WHM/BLM (33/16).

-In order for your NPC to attack a mob, you HAVE to engage and attack with your weapon.

-If you get aggro, your NPC will not automatically fight the monster who aggro'd you.

-If you cast magic on the mob, like Blind, or Drain, etc, your NPC will not fight until you engage and attack physically.

-As soon as you disengage a mob and put your weapon away, your NPC will do the same and stop fighting.

-While fighting, I got a link at one point, but my NPC only stayed focused on the first monster I physically attacked. I did not try to switch targets because I wanted to finish one monster as quickly as possible before I died XD.

-I did in fact gain the option to change the NPC's job between healer, attacker, and shield types, after summoning it for the third time in three days.

-My NPC decided to leave after I gained around 600 exp. Since I was leveling WHM, this took a while to do, so my NPC lasted around 40 minutes. With that said, based on other people's information, the NPC might stay with you only until you've gotten a certain amount of exp. When mines left he said that "We have met our quota for today." or something along those lines.

Hope this info helps in some way :D

I'd like everyone's help with a new section I want to start for the guide. It appears that certain types of NPC have certain types of personalities. I'd like to document these personalities. Here's what I'd like you to include;

Race
Gender (if applicable)
Hair Color
Hair Style

Some sayings by the NPC ie- What he/she says upon arriving, what they say upon leaving, what they say at the rendezvous point, during battle etc.

If you can all help with that info I'd be very appreciative.

^^

Explain this one to me, not that I mind it, but...

My NPC after Day 2 is now wearing level 40 BreastPlate, but is still level 30.

Hume
Female
Blond
Pony-tail

upon arriving:
Good Day. Shall we get moving?

upon leaving:
right before:
We have fought many battles today. Time to take a break.
when she leaves:
It's time for me to go. Farewell.

I've tried the "Healing" style for the NPC now.

He still uses a sword just like before.

The spells he cast: Dia, Paralyze, Cure, Protect (when I first summoned him he cast Protect on me right away, then Protected himself), Aquaveil, Poisona.

He doesn't cure that often, but when you're really low on health he seems to start curing (perhaps upper orange/low yellow health?) and it's a little random.

He usually debuffs the monster with a spell at the beginning of a fight. Usually with Dia.

Every now and then when you're standing around he Aquaveils himself.

He was poisoned at one point, and he Poisona'ed himself right after the fight.

I was a level 10 MNK, so no Cure II.

I am waiting for a few weeks to do this quest, due to the numerous amount of people at the BCNM sight to fight.

I posted in other thread, but after taking my npc out for the 6th summoning, I talked to Luto again and she lets me trade basic weapons to her which she says she will give my npc to use.

Posted my daily runs in this thread along with some of the stuff i've been able to trade.

I'm not logged on right now but here's a basic rundown of my NPC's attitude.

Nokum-Akkum
Tarutaru Male
Blue hair, tied in back (not the brillo/mop hair, the mullet hair)

When summoned:
I'm here. You're here. Let's get moving.

When leaving:
I'm taking off. Later.

When he's clicked:
Oh, are we done for today?

When he's clicked again:
Oh, changed your mind? No problem.

When provoking:
Over here.

He says "No problem" a lot and he's very short (as in speaking, not in stature :p). I love my little smartass XD

I believe it is Windurst Waters just near the mog house.

Someone above was asking about rank, Here is my experience on rank and this quest. I tried to start the quest as a Rank 3 player whom has Hero Fame in Jeuno (Max Fame) I could not start the quest. I then went to complete Mission 3-3 to attain Rank 4 and I could then start the quest. I do believe you need to be at least Rank 4 to get your quest started. Good luck all

I managed to change my NPC's attack style from shield today to Attacker or healer. She is still level 30 but I did summon her 3 times.

I started on my chart for the NPC attitudes, but I'm coming up blank for what to classify each attitude as, any help or input would be greatly appreciated.

Here's what I've noticed on NPC attitudes.

Galka with spikey black hair: Very excitable "All right! That's the job for me!"

Elvaan Female with long white hair parted in the middle: Serious "Just make sure you don't hold me back."

Elvaan Male with messy white hair: Short and to the point "You're here. I'm here. Let's go."

Elvaan Female with two pony tails: Cutely unsure of herself "I don't know much about jobs, but can you recomend a combat style for me?" "Hmmm. Okay! I'll do my best!"

Hume male with spikey brown hair: Seemed to be pretty normal. Not too noble, not mean. Just your average adventurer. I didn't spend too much time with this one before I did the quest again to get my galka.

I apoligize if this has been brought up already. But is there any continuation to the quest after recieving the signal pearl? If I talk to the original Mithra, Luto, she simply says nothing new is happening... anyone get anything different?
#47 Jul 22 2005 at 11:36 PM Rating: Decent
I got Hume Female face 1B by saying "Yes" to Akta in Ru'Lude and then "No" to Bheem. She seems friendly and a little hyper. Talks kinda like a valley girl.

Hmmm, have you tried speaking with Luto again? I think she mentions something about the girl before speaking with Bheem.

I've updated some info on the job 'Attacker' (doesn't seem all that great to me though)
Also I've changed my tracker for NPC uses to 'Calls' instead of days as it's now been discovered how to call the NPC more then once per day.
I've also started writing down any new info from Luto because the more I thought about it the more it seems this character evolves based on it's uses, and since Luto has the option for 'Anything new?' I think she may yet still have more in store for us.

As well it's starting to look like we can confirm that the NPC stays for a set # of fights rather then a set amount of time or exp. For every call I've done thus far she's stayed for 15 fights exactly and I have a hunch that perhaps once I reach a certain lvl that # of fights will increase.

My THF reached lvl 8 tonight so perhaps at lvl 10 we may see a change ^^

maybe having it out is based on your current level because i was level 50 RDm duoing stuff and i had my NPC out for 45 minutes. not 12

yes u can redo ur npc. i unknowingly created a galka immediately after update not knowing what i was choosing but now i have a nice female hume ^^. after completeling this quest got back to luto and talk to her and ask to end this task.... or something like. that then say ya im really sure.... or something to that extent. then she will erase ur memory and u can start from the beginning. yay!
