Speak to a Besieged Caretaker or use Rally Cry near them to start one following you. It is possible to catch multiple Caretakers with a single Rally Cry and they will both follow.

If you see a pulsing red circle appear that is the target of an incoming air strike. Additionally, Crucia herself is in the area and every so often she will strafe the roads and bathe a larger area in blue fire, so you may want to stay off the roads.

Any of the small buildings are a "safe" place. No mortars will land here, and no monsters will path here.
