Summary

A Mithran Tracker has demanded the construction of a new type of tuning fork so she can converse with the sleeping gods.
Help Leepe-Hoppe gather the necessary materials.

Walkthrough

Leepe-Hoppe requires three items. The first is a Magicked Steel Ingot dropped by Goblin Oilman, Goblin Hammerman, Goblin Tollman, and Goblin Leadman in Oldton Movalpolos. A fairly common drop.

The second is a piece of Spruce Lumber dropped by Taurus in Phomiuna Aqueducts. These con as Decent Challenge when you are capped at level 40. Watch out for Doom!

Lastly, find an Extra-fine File dropped by Fomors that spawn in the watchtowers and around the campfires at night (20:00) in Lufaise Meadows.

The extra-fine file

In regards to the file, I wanted to summarize everything I had learned.

There is no indication in previous posts that the file drops from anything other than Fomor warriors or samurai. However, I was surprised, quite pleasantly so, when I read the words "You find an extra-fine file on the Fomor Monk."

The Fomors will spawn starting at 20:00 until 4:00.

My strategy was to run between the campfire at (G-6) and the tower at (H-8). I estimate three rounds at each camp per night if you're really tearing them up, but with very rare drops.

Hope that helps.

I was shocked last night when the very first Formor Warrior I fought dropped this Filer. I knew that is was a really really rare drop and that just made me very excited to see that I got something that is really hard to get to drop.

Extra-fine File is also known as Extra-rare File.
I'm about 0/110 right now -_-

1/120 or so. Dropped from Fomor Warrior.
Got the Fine Tuner title after getting the Whisper quest right after.

I wouldn't expect SE to surprise us, either.

Diabolos is a boss, but he is also the Terrestrial Avitar of Dreams, that dosent mean you can summon him. Fenrir was involved in the story before he was summonable. Not saying you will be able to use Diabolos, but he is one of the 5 avitars that are not able to be summoned yet.

He is one of the 5 terrestrial avatars, but 2 of the terrestrial avatars ARE summonable (Fenrir and Carbuncle). But yeah, I wouldn't expect SE to ever allow us to summon Bahamut, Diabolos, or Phoenix.

I expect it will happen eventually... some time before they shut down the servers for good... if that ever happens.

Probably won't be before they raise the level cap at least once or twice, though.

I took a long time for me to get the extra-fine file, but I finally got mine from the warrior in the WAR/BST/SMN trio further out from the safehold. Everyone that I've talked to that made note of which fomor dropped it also said that it was the Warrior which dropped the file.

Title Granted: Fine Tuner

This title does not show up right away, it took several days for it to appear, when I was able to start the Tuning Out quest. I don't think that was a coincidence.

Okay this quest goes like this

Get your steel from old town mov
Get your spruce from TAURUS near entrance of phomiun easiest way
Get you file from the fomor in lufaise

I soloed all (i was a 40/20 rng/nin for the taurus and used sleep bolts/arrows)

Go to leppe assuming u have already started quest trade items get your pitiful reward. (4k) then wait a couple RT hours go back and get the next quest.

After abit of running around you have to kill 5 NM wasps... i managed to do it as 69/31 brd/nin wasn't pretty but i managed. They do become more resistant to lullaby after each time you use (meaning next time u sleep they wake up faster)

You get your peppers from the mantrap in mis coast
You get your mutton tortilla from wind waters in the inn
and... crap forgot third item. but i remember buying from AH

Take those items and trade to gaurd outside of gilgamesh's room.

Play more chase the the mithra and wind up in bea glacier for your 6k reward...

NOW...

head back to leppe hoppe and get the lvl 1 helm that has +2 enmity to it... forgot name and finally i think quest is over...

So the tuning in and out quests net you 10k in gil and about 50k in item. for alot of grief ^_^

i'm gonna go out on a limb and assume this is the quest to obtain Diablos (the demon summon from FFVIII). if anyone has seen the newer footage they had available on Playonline.com, there was a cutscene that showed the Unknown Youth standing in an area that looked like Beaucidine Glacier with Diablos hovering behind him. if they still have the footage, check it out and you'll see what i mean.

A magicked steel ingot: Goblin Carpenters in Oldton Movalpolis
a piece of spruce lumber : Tarus mobs in Phomania Aquducts
an extra-fine file : Fomor mobs in Lufise Meadows

After like 1 RL day of finishing this quest you get a new quest called Tuning Out by talking to Leepe again. This time you must go to kazham & talk to the cheiftainess. Then Talk to Mihgo also in Kahzam. She sends you to "witness" a fight in Yuhtunga Jungle. Head to the spot on the map marker Gemini Falls. You only have to ride a chocobo out to the higher part, no need to go through Ifrit's Cauldron at all. There is a ??? spot near the edge overlooking the falls. When you eximine it, about 6 NM bees spawn and attack you. I had little problem soloing them as a 73 DRG/WHM, but I think I would have died without WHM sub. After defeating the NMs reexamine the ???. Talk to Mihgo in Kazham. She tells you to take the following items to the guard to Gilgamesh's door in Norg: A bunch of Habanero Peppers (Rare/Ex, dropped off of Mantraps in Misareaux Coast), a Serving of Black Curry, and a Mutton Tortilla (both avail on AH under food) . That's as far as I've gotten, the Mantraps are very stingy with thier rare/ex Pepper drop ><
RE: more info
# Nov 10 2004 at 8:48 AM Rating: Decent
After getting the first three items, and beating the bees, (five or six, they're called Nasus), I've obtained the Habanero peppers from the Mantrap, and gotten the other two items from AH, but I've been unable to figure out who i should trade it to in Norg. Kamil, (this guy in Gilgamesh's room), was mentioned by romaa mihgo, but he ignores me, as do Gilgamesh and his Oaken door. Any ideas? help?

Just to clear up the rumors, this is not for a new summon as of now. For this quest you get something like 6k gil and for the 'Tuning Out' quest you get something like 4k gil.

Spruce Lumber drops off of Stegotaurs in Phomiuna Aqueducts, which you gain access to in CHapter 2 of the COP missions.

This drops all Taurus-type monsters in Phomiuna Aqueducts, and is a pretty common drop. We killed the easier Taurus monsters near the beginning and got four with surprising alacrity.

RE: Tuning Fork?

Actually, the story is that a Shikaree mithra wants to speak with the avatars without fighting them (Her intentions aren't as innocent as they seem), so Leepe-Hoppe has to make a different kind of fork.
