~ Every 6ish stacks = 2 lvl's of Fame.
*Any RDM/BLM over 50 can do this easy w/ by warping to the HP East of Tokaka. In the Zone. Still takes awhile tho.
Refresh > Convert > Warp

I started w/ lvl 3 Fame. Traded In 12 stacks and Bumped It up to lvl 7.
And w/ 15 stacks I had Hero Fame.
So lvl 0-9 fame would = 27ish total stacks.

Zabbirege - Hajigo [Windy Waters] [F-10]
Lvl 1: Sorry Never heard that name before.
Lvl 3: I've heard pretty good things about you
Lvl 7: There isn;t a soul in Windust that has yet to hear blah blah blah.
Lvl 8: A day doesnt go by when I fail to hear a tale of your deeds. blah blah blah.

will help you find what lvl Fame you are @. GL, hopes this helps.

this is all very funny, reading some of these posts. You guys are talking about repeating this quest DOZENS of times. It's gonan get boring no matter what. Just do what I do, turn one in, go do something, next time ur passing through do it again.
where to buy
# Jun 06 2006 at 11:54 AM Rating: Decent
Does the guild sell sardines all the time. I was there before it opened at 3, and there was 1 other who seemed afk (just stood there even after a good 20 min store was open) and the Bastore Sardines where nowhere on the list. They had bream, and sliced sardines but thats it.

What I did was set my HP next to the orastery in port windhurst (the same area this quest is in) and everytime I traded a fish, I would warp and take the 30 seconds it takes to walk back. Much faster than warping to another area or using the npc to warp.

why is it noone is listening to you? lol this works the fastest, period (must have warp obviously)
Speed
# Oct 09 2005 at 2:29 PM Rating: Decent
Attention people : I have confirmed that it is NOT faster to use the warp npc. I timed runs each way. Through zoning to windurst waters, It took 1:53:08, wheras through warping, it took 1:56:66. This may not make that much of a difference, but the delay can depend on your computer speed. Plus, through traditional zoning, if you have a theif at 25, you can flee every 5 minutes, speeding it up; and that's my 2 gil.

Outpost warping helps to ya know. Started in my home country of sandy, OP warped to Vakurm Dunes, walked to selbina, bought fish for 26gil each, walked back to valkurm OP, warped to sandoria, warped to saurtabaruta, then walked to port. Brought like 150+ fish with me. Each sardine gave me 70 gil, thats 49gil profit.

5 stacks, n it's taking forever. I go to the guy at the monestary, tele to wind walls, then back, talk, thrade, repeat. Faster than warp but boring.
slow
# May 05 2005 at 1:14 AM Rating: Decent
this is going very slow but i set my hp in the zone right next to the fishin guild and just warp there and run back, plus the guild is selling the bastor sardine for 27 gil and the NPC is giving me 70 gil each time fame for a profit heh i got time^^

I don't understand why Windurst Warping is so unknown or unused. Why do you zone for this quest? All you have to do is talk to Machu-Kuchu in E-7, which is a lot closer than the zone. This NPC warps you to Windurst Walls in J-11, where you can warp right back talking to Komulili.

You can also Warp between Windurst Waters and Windurst Woods. The NPC's are Pattsu-Yabittsu in Windurst Woods K-12 and Tonana in Windurst Waters G-8

-_- This quest makes me wish I'd have stuck with THF for flee and such... Anyways, is it the higher level you are, the more fame you need to get to another level? Or does it stay the same? I've heard a bit of both sides, but at level 5 it's starting to seem like it has no effect at all. I'm an impatient elvaan summoner that wants to get Ramuh and some other avatars before I go back to Valkurm (twitch).

As a thief i can say that it is only moderately easier to do this awful repetitive quest. Flee regenerates every 5 minutes so you can only use it about once every 3 trips from the zone to Tokaka. But it's true that it is nice as Flee covers exactly the space from the zone to the NPC.

Rank gets harder to level up just like experience points for levelling up jobs. It takes longer the higher you get

Sadly, on this week, Bastok Music Shop wasnt selling Cornettes anymore... so i turn to this quest to get Rank 3 Fame (Aspir) and Rank 4 fame (Teles' Mea & Yhoat quests)

I had 0 fame at windy.

With 3 stacks of Sardines i was able to reach Rank 3.

With another 3 stacks of Sardines i was able to reach rank 4.

Total of 6 stacks to get to Rank 4 windy fame with this quest to me (Caitsith server)

Its a very slow process coz u have to zone everytime, but the quests u can get w/ this are worthy ^^ .

^^

Turning in these sardines makes fishing them up seem like exciting work. I was raising my fishing skill on the pier and by the time i got to lvl 6 i had seven stacks of sardines. I wanted to shoot myelf from the tedium. at least i got enough fame for the mea scroll quest out of it.
So I've got some time on my hands
# Oct 21 2004 at 5:14 AM Rating: Decent
It takes 1 minute and 10 seconds to go from the home point crystal in Windurst Walls to Tokaka and finish the quest. Food for thought.

The price of the sardines depend on the supply and demand of the sardines, just liek every guild shop. If they sell out the previous day, the price will be the maximum. If they closed with full stock, the price will be the minimum. I'm sure 77g is the maximum, so if it is that price, just come back another day.
Long quest.

I'm doing this quest now to get lv4 fame for me teleport scroll. First, I bought a bunch of fishing stuff: tunic, pants, gloves, and boots. I also got a carbon rod and a sabiki rig. I started with lv0 fishing and got it up to lv2 while fishing for these sardines. In the time I got 74 sardines (6 stacks and 2 leftovers) I got 2 stacks of quus, about 6 kelp, and 1 rusty legging. It might have taken me about 3 hours to fish up this much stuff. Then I started doing the trading/zoning part of the quest. In 1 hour I traded a total of 26 of my 74 sardines to her and could not take the torture of running back and fourth any more that night. I went with the warp to Windurst Waters path, which took about 2 minutes and 30 seconds per complete run I did, although it seemed a lot longer. I think I'm gonna trade my last 4 stacks to the lady in sets of twos, breaking them up evenly over the course of two days so as to keep my brain from liquefying and dripping out of my ears. Good luck to anyone else who is doing this, and prepare yourself for a very long day.

You can buy these Bastore Sardines at the fishing guild. The shop hours are 3 to 18 and Lightning day is their holiday.

GOD IN HEAVEN, I HATE THIS F*****G QUEST!!! I just did it 60 times. It raised my fame from lvl 1 to lvl 4, took 2 hours, used the Refresh/Warp/Refresh/Convert method. I didn't have to stop and rest at all. I'm angry b/c I check fame after 36 fish and it was lvl 3, then again after 60 AND IT WAS ONLY 4!!!!
