Mission Orders

Capture the three magicites in Davoi, Beadeaux, and Castle Oztroja to prevent the Shadow Lord's return.

Walkthrough

This mission may need an alliance and or high level assistance. This mission can take up to several hours, depending on your setup!

Jeuno

Head to Ru'Lude Gardens and talk to your Ambassador. He will then give you a key item to obtain an audience with the Archduke of Jeuno. After the cutscene, you need to obtain key items to gain access to the strongholds of the beastmen.

Take the letter the Duke gave you and present it to Aldo of the Tenshodo inside Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno. If you are not a member of the Tenshodo you must become one before you can continue this mission. Either complete the quest for membership or buy a scroll from the Auction House. After a cutscene you will obtain a Silver Bell as one of the three for access to the Magicite in Beadeaux. Then, talk to Sattal-Mansal and he will tell you to bring him a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell so that he can give you the last two key items needed for Beadeaux -- Key Items, Coruscant Rosary and Black Matinee Necklace.

Now, either fight Coeurls in Meriphataud Mountains for Coeurl Meat or buy a piece from the Auction House. Head to Upper Jeuno and talk to Baudin, who is next to a house across from the Chocobo Stables. Once the cutscene is over, trade him the meat and you will receive Davoi Charm.

Finally, just walk between the Armor and Weapon shops and talk to Paya-Sabya. After the cutscene, head to Muckvix's Junk Store in Lower Jeuno and talk to Muckvix in the back room. After a cutscene, you will receive a Yagudo Torch.

Now, it's time to head out.

Davoi

This one is quick and simple, but you may have to fight an Orcish Trooper or Orcish Gladiator at the Wall of Dark Arts. Once you enter Davoi, turn right, take top route to G-7, go to the southernmost point. You'll see the Wall of Dark Arts immediately.

Activate the wall, by clicking on it, pass through, and enter Monastic Cavern. There are no monsters in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall, click the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Optistone, warp back to Jeuno.

Castle Oztroja

Castle Oztroja will either be the longest or second longest task of the mission, because even to level 40+ everything will aggro halfway through, and the Yagudo appear in groups of three and four.

When you enter the castle, head to the door at (I-8). Have everyone stand back and away from the door. Send a Black Mage to test the levers, as if he triggers the trapdoor he can just Escape and come back. The lever combination changes with every game day, so just have one member try them. If the Black Mage is successful, then let him trigger the lever and have everyone else run inside the door.

Once inside, head to the right and up the stairs. You come to an intersection at (I-8) and need to head right. Follow this all the way straight and don't take the right turn at (I-7). Follow this until you come to another intersection, which is also on the second floor of the castle. DO NOT DROP DOWN, as you CAN fall. If you do, you have to start this all over again. Stay near the edge of the walls, and take the tunnel at (G-8), which will eventually lead you to an outside court at (G-7).

Again, you will be on an overpass and DON'T FALL DOWN. Go right and take the tunnel at (I-7). Once you enter the tunnel it's pretty straightforward. Head up the stairs, then down, and follow them until you reach an intersection. You're now heading into the lower depths of Castle Oztroja, where Yagudo Lutenists, Priors, Zealots, and Conquistadors are here, plentiful, and in groups of 2 - 4. If you're in an alliance of 35+ or even 40+, you will have to fight, so prepare yourselves.

Once you reach the intersection at (H-8), head right. Follow this through the bend, and go straight, ignoring the left turn at (G-9), and ignoring the left turn again at (G-9) when you follow the bend (if you look at the map, you'll see it's just a loop anyway). Follow this straight and you'll eventually come to the torch door -- this is what your Key Item: Yagudo Torch is for. Activate one of the two torches and wait for all members to appear on the other side.

Kill the few Yagudo here, and head right at the intersection at (H-10). Open the door, and enter the Altar Room. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Orustone, warp back to Jeuno.

Beadeaux

This part of the mission is actually easy to complete, but you have to make two trips. The first trip deals with killing the two named Quadav (not Notorious Monsters) and getting enough drops for everyone. This can be either quick, or time consuming, depending on the size of the alliance.

Enter Beadeaux, go straight, and head left at the intersection at (F-7). Follow the bed and go straight, ignoring the open area to the right. Follow the bend and head sound into the tunnel at (H-7). The Land Pugils aggro here, so you may need to kill them for anyone in the the 30s.

Once in the tunnel, follow the winding path down until you reach an intersection at (H-7). Left is the way to the Qulun Dome, and the Magicite. However, you only have one of the three key items needed to open the door, so we need to go right. Follow this path until you come to an intersection, and head right at (G-7), for left is The Afflictor, which will *curse* you. You have to be silenced by The Muter, to not be cursed when walking past The Afflictor. You'll see The Muter and you need to click on it and *activate* it to become muted.

We had a White Mage that had Silena and Cursna, so she didn't get muted, but had everyone else do so. They went ahead and killed all the Quadav in the room of The Afflictor at (G-8), while she just allowed herself to be cursed. She uncursed herself, and cast Silena on the other mages. We let her rest up, and just went on with our business.

Once past the machines, follow the tunnel and ignore the right turn at (F-7) and follow the tunnel out into the above. Follow the tunnel until you come to another Muter machine. Now, here's how you get onto the top platform and avoid the machines. You need to go *clockwise* around this entire area. On other words you need to go from (F-9) east, then southeast to (H-9). Go from here southwest to (H-10), then west and then southwest to (F-10) (the afflicter machines should be *out* of your vision or *north* of you), and finally go west and then north to (E-10) to the little incline leading up onto the above ledges.

You need to follow the southern ridge of this (DON'T FALL OFF!) until you get to (J-9). There will be a little doorway pass with some torches nearby. This is where De'Vyu Headhunter spawns, and depending on your alliance you may have to fight him numerous times. He usually drops 3 Quadav Charms, but since we had two alliances he did drop 2 and then 4 once. However, 3 seems to be the median. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes even, as we timed it when we had to kill him 8 times.

After every person has a charm, let's head back north to the starting area, but STAY ON THE LEDGE. You need to follow the ridge again until you get to (F-6), which is right by the entrance. At (F-6), near the two huts on the ledge, is where Go'Bhu Gascon will spawn. He drops the Quadav Augury Shell, the last of the two items needed, and like De'Vyu Headhunter, he drops a median of 3 shells per fight. His respawn time seems to be just about 15 minutes as well.

Once everyone has a Quadav Charm and a Quadav Augury Shell, head back to Jeuno. Enter the Neptune's Spire again and trade the items *ONE at a time* to Sattal-Mansa. For some reason, if you trade him both at the same time (this happened to one of our members), he gives you the key item for the first item put in. He also takes the second item, but doesn't give you credit for it, so you'll have to go back to fight one of the two named Quadav to get another one.

After everyone has their two key items, head back to Beadeaux. Head to the the Qulun Dome as mentioned above. There's nothing in here, so just follow this to the hollowed out bone wall. Activate the Magicite, and watch the cutscene. Once everyone is done with that and received Magicite: Aurastone, warp back to Jeuno.

Jeuno

Head back to the Archduke and a cutscene will play. He will give you your airship pass! Then, head to your embassy and talk to the person behind the counter. You will then be recognized as having achieved Rank 5 and will be awarded 10,000gil as well! The assistant to the ambassador will then order you home.

If you already have an airship pass (for whatever reason), the Duke will give you an additional 20,000 gil, in addition to the 10,000 gil you receive from the embassy.

I just finished Davoi and Castle Oztroja solo as 40 whm/blm, and probably would have died in Castle Oztroja if I didn't have my NPC with me at the torch door.

I'm a taru, and my Galka NPC stood behind me as I fumbled around trying to find the right spot to activate the torch. I was there without invisible for a good 20-30 seconds, and the yagudo walked toward me several times, but they never saw me. I'll assume my NPC makes a good hiding place... Anyone else experienced this?

Thanks to all for the tips and advice BTW.

Please Assist

Ghebi is in Neptune's Spire in Lower Jeuno.
choose the 3rd (blank) option when you speak to her.
then head to port bastok and talk to Jabbar in Warehouse #2
then head back to Ghebi in Neptune's Spire.
I think this information should be added to the quest. because it is revelent

If all else fails, and you can't get this mission done, relax. Do what i did. Wait till you are a high level (mid 50's) and then do it with a friend from you ls. (One will suffice). Doing it this way took me about 2 hours. No mobs aggro or anything. Its basically a cakewalk.
P.S.
# Feb 03 2007 at 10:35 PM Rating: Decent
Half of that stuff in Beadeaux is unnecessary, just get a level 65+ friend kill the two nms within 10 mins for you, warp out, come back, walk past all of the quadav and the afflictor, grab the magicite and youre done in a half hour. By no means do you need an alliance, I did not fight a single mob in beadeaux.
P.S.

HELP

You need to have donated enough crystals to your nation to be able to obtain this mission.
I was also confused as to what to do as i couldn't get the mission but after donating like 62 crystals ( probably far too many thought i'd go on the safe side though as they are only 500 a stack ) I was able to jsut walk into the ambassador's room and get the CS starting the mission. =]
Hope this helps.
Fairly Easy

I just completed this mission as my WHM, and I think it took around 3 hours.

The Davoi part was so easy at level 40, I got to the wall, and the two orc guards weren't there, so I don't know how hard they would be to me, but everything else I came accross was either too weak or easy prey.

For the Beadeaux portion, I tried to beat Go'Bhu Gascon by myself. I got him down from the upper level with Dia, but he kept interrupting my spells and hit me hard. I did die, but had Reraise on, so I zoned after reviving myself. There was a high level SAM sitting around doing nothing in the Pashow Marshlands, so she helped me. She had the item that Go'Bhu drops in her inventory, and sold it to me for 1gil. Then she went and found D'Vyu Headhunter, and killed him fairly easily, with me tossing in some cures and a Regen.

I was a bit worried about the Castle Oz bit, as I'd never been there before, and I decided to go on my own. First couple of levels, either easy prey or too weak. I kept sneak and invisible up the whole time. Got a little lost, but found my way again. The bats were easy prey, and they were around the whole time I was there, so they're even near the torch door. The two high level yags were at the door, and they came up as incredibly tough. I did a couple of shouts to see if anyone could help, but no takers. I waited about 10 minutes for them to both turn away at the same time, and they finally did. I lit the torch, and got through without aggro. Rank 5 acheived!!

The good thing about this part is that there are lots of long gaps where there are no mobs, so you can re-apply your sneak and invis safely, and the map is also fairly straightforward for the most part.
Fairly Easy

Do you think I could solo that boss without dying as a level 53 WHM? And would the rest be easy or was that sam necessary?
Solo at 25 WHM

Just thought i'd let everyone know that it is possible to solo your way to the magicite in Beadeaux and Davoi if you are at least a LVL 25 WHM and have invis. and sneak. I had help going through Castle Oztrajo so im not sure if the same tactic would work there (i didnt try it) but once i had all the key items for the areas I was able to solo my way to the magicite. You just need to make sure you keep invis. and sneak up all the time, find a safe place to recast always and dont attempt to activate anything if there is a mob that will aggro you if spotted. Just be patient, they will go far enough from the activation points eventually.

Hope this helps, I know how hard it can be trying to get a party to do this, thats why I just soloed it. If your having trouble getting the key items, just go to the area you get the item from, search for a high level player and most of the time they are more than happy to help you out.
Solo the Castel

Soloed Castle Oztrajo as a 50DRG/25WHM. No aggro till I went down to the lower depths. Almost died. Invis the rest of the way till I got to the room with the torch. A 60 MNK ended up running by and killing them both, SCORE! Had to invis on the other side of the door. Only 2 mobs there. Disengaging Invise to get through the last door was not so bad cause the mobs were a good distance away. Easier than I expected. I more Magicite to go!

I didn't read all the posts.. so I don't know if anyone posted this:

You can avoid falling down the trapdoor by standing on the trap first as you pull the lever (since it's different a lot of the time) run out of the square as soon as you can, you'll see if the door opens or if the trap is triggered. The same lever will open the door again for your trip.

I prefer to do these sorts of missions in a party as it usually ends up helping out more than one person, not to mention the fact that the risk of death is minimised if you do it with a balanced set of 6, but I fancied a challenge this time around so went for it solo as much as possible.

Managed to solo Go'Bhu Gascon (the level 41-43 Quadav) by clearing the Old/Copper Quadavs below (300% TP, thankyou) then pulling him down with Flash. Didn't have to use Invincible but might have done if Go'Bhu had used Warcry. I had Hi-Potions just in case but didn't need to use them. 61xp and a Shell (and a Water Crystal).

For De'Vyu Headhunter (level 45) I brought along a 54Blm and a 43Drk, so a very, very easy fight, I'm guessing he'd have killed me if I'd tried to solo, but maybe a few hi-potions and a 2-hour would have tipped the balance. At 44 most of the mobs en-route are easy prey and only 1 or 2 of those will aggro, once we moved to the upper section we used Sneak to get to Headhunter just to make sure.

As stated by many posters here previously, Davoi and Castle Oztroja can both be done solo with good research (i.e. read what everyone else is saying, study the maps of the areas you'll be going through), patience and prisms/silent oils. The two Yagudos guarding the second 'torch' door are both around level 49, and you have to stand dead centre between the two torch holders, wait for them to face way, pop your Invis and click on one of the Torch holders at just the right time or else you'll wish you'd brought some muscle. Be patient, if invis starts to wear when you're not ready run back down the tunnel the way you came from and reapply at a safe distance, then run back and wait until both Yagudos are facing away again. Once through the door, reapply invis as quickly as possible, because these two will be able to see you if they turn around even though the door is closed behind you, and come storming through if you're unlucky.

Davoi is even easier, same technique (wait until the two orcs face away, pop invis, open door) with the advantage that if you time it wrong you can just hit Invincible and jog out with 20 Orcs linked running after you and still make it back to the Jugner zone.

well well well, finally finished this mission with help from my LS. I went as lv31 whm/blm, and basically kept sneak/invis up the whole time while they slashed through all the high-lvl yags in castle ostroja. beaudeaux was a cakewalk too. soloed davoi easily before i even sought out help. altogether it took us 3 1/2 hours; much better than i thought! g/l

I just finsihed this Mission with the help of my Linkshell... Wow, took us 7 hours to complete the mission. I remind everyone that you need to trade the items one at a time, you don't lose the 2nd one if you trade them both together.. but you don't get the item you need.... One of the people in our party traded them at the same time, and had to go back to Jeuno to correct his error.

I shouted in Jeuno for about an hour, with the wrong shout, x_x for 3-4 instead of 4-3 Beadeaux. A nice *** pointed that out to me, xD he and his friend, 58blm/whm, 75rdm/??? helped me get the items.
The Go' Bhugacon was pretty quick, apart from the fact that it's above the ledge, we can't be bothered to go up as well, took ages for it to come in to range to dia or /ra it. Got it with no problem. 3 drops.

Went to the second quadav. Took a few minutes to pop. 2 drops.
The blm gave me a d2. I went back to Tenshodo.

Accidently traded both items at the same time. >< Thought it was the end for me, since we disbanded. Turns out SE fixed the thing, and doesn't take your second item, so I traded again and got both items.
Question

Hey, my friends are telling my I can do Castle Oztrajo at level 33 WHM if I keep Sneak and Invis up all the time. Personly, I think if I had any hope I'd have to memorise this part of the guide and have map print outs from Atlas. Now while I'm willing to try it, I want to know first if it's worth trying to do and losing EXP over and over.

Just asking, should I atempt by myself?
