Corrupted

I hunted the NW plateau around loc p3600 p2700. There were 3 tottering gorillas on track most of the time. Four Tainted spawned. The first two were gray to a 60 Druid. The second two were green. The fourth spawned the corrupted gorilla immediately and on top of the tainted's corpse. He conned light blue and was an easy kill. Spent about 2 hours. Gorillas drop some decent plat.
Northwest conner (random pop off tot's )

Tainted is Random!! an even then its not a sure thing took about 45 mins clearing fast poping ( a tottering Gorilla ) in North West conner past stairs area. killed 4 tainted that poped on the 5 one got the corrupted gorilla its all random. Part of the boring wait in geting epic done. Good Luck!!
Spawning Corrupted
# May 10 2007 at 4:38 AM Rating: Decent
I was able to spawn the tainted ( Live ) and then Corrupted by doing this. I aggroed 2 Tottering Gorillas from the area north of the stairs, pulled them back to top of stairs. Killed both within 10 secs of eachother, and tainted 9 Live ) spawned north of me. Killed him and got the Corrupted, Thanks to ebix's post. It worked for me. I spent about 4 hours killing Tottering Gorillas and no Tainted popped until I did what Ebix suggested. Hope this helps for others. Safe and Happy Huntings to All

Workin on Epic for the alt druid, read the posts, positioned dru and sham near the stairs on the ledge in EJ. Pulled every Tottering Gorilla I could find that was up on the ledge. Within an hour or so I got to where after every kill I would refresh track and another tottering would be up. Some were "grey" and some were "green" (this is post TSS with it's new /con message) to my 61 druid. After roughly 4 tainteds spawned I finally got a Corrupted after killing a green tainted.
I'd suggest hanging out in the general vacinity of the top of the stairs and pulling tottering gorillas until you get tainteds/corrupt.
Got Him!

I am currently a 63 druid on Firiona Vie. I just got the gorilla today, so I will share how I did it.
I ported to Emerald Jungle and wandered around till I found the big steps and went up them. Suddenly I had tons of agro from skellies worms and you name it but no gorillas. The amount of mobs attacking me made it impossible to get a spell off so I ran for the zone and made it out at 68%. After a quick heal, rebuff and med I swapped my spells to AoE root and snare and got into wolf form. I also loaded up swarming death and Karana's Rage and set out for the steps again.
As I made my new approach I killed of a few wandering skeletons and looked for gorillas on track and picked one out. I tracked it to the wall right at the top of the steps and was agroed by all 3 at once. No skellies or adds this time though. I ran to the side of the steps and got some distance to snare without hitting myself with it then did the same with root. At this point I nuked them down with 2 casts of KR and waited for the next cycle which didnt take long.
The tainted popped in the next cycle and thankfully was NOT the undead one. He also didnt track to the steps but further northwest of them. I snared and rooted (catching a few adds in this time) but killed them all and popped the corrupted after. JOY!! At 63 the corrupted was still light blue to me and wasnt a problem to kill. However; foolishly kiting him around I wasnt watching where I was going and managed to agro Severilous when my gorilla was at 20%. I managed to beat the gorilla down and loot the corpse just in time to get ported to bind spot. Thankfully I was able to locate a kind cleric easily and still walked away happy. (Even more so because the gorilla spawned so quickly and made up for the 6-8 hours I spent in Lake Rathe for the goblin.)
Hope this helps a few people. BTW even though Severilous was almost sitting on top of my corpse when I went back for it he doesnt see invis so I managed to get it with no trouble.

Happy Questing-

Ouch walked to the stairs expecting 2 or 3 mobs to jump out at me. I had at LEAST 20, probably more. I died instantly my 68 Beast.. PET.. took everything out.
Still in Wall

Went strolling up the stairs today, and the tainted popped out of the wall and jumped me (with a skellie). Killed em both, the corrupted spawned, killed him and it's off to hunt Brownies I'm-a-goin.

Since the DX9 patch these guys are a bit messed up. I've spent ages trying to track em but they're often inside the rock-face by the top of the stairs (NW part of Zone).

It IS still possible though. Track them to the rock face one by one and they'll aggro you. Pull 'em out, snare em and kill all 3 - Standard snare + AoE works best.(There's usually a 4th down south in the jungle - ignore him)

If this pops the Live Tainted/Corrupted, then you're luckier than me!

Once you've killed those that were stuck in the geometry you should find they re-spawn in their normal place near the ruin N/NW of the stairs.

Just killed 1st spawn and popped undead tainted Smiley: banghead

Killed another 3 full spawns and the live popped. Dead easy at 65 (I know, I know! - just never bothered with epics until recently).

Oh, and the corrupted was still light blue to me.

Happy Hunting. Smiley: smile

Three at a time?
# Oct 10 2003 at 7:48 PM Rating: Decent
Ok, I have been in EJ for about an hour and have been following the advice about killing all three of the Tottering Gorillas at the same time. It worked the first time... then nothing. I have been snaring them, dragging them all to one spot and killing them off within 10 secs of each other. All I can think is that we got lucky the first time OR you cannot respawn him with that trick until his spawn timer has run down. Good luck all!

i went there tonight just killing them at random got tainted undead twice, 3rd tainted was live i heard somewhere if you kill one by the stairs going down they spawn. hope this helps alittle. was there about 2 hours
RE: Three at a time?
# Feb 10 2004 at 8:53 PM Rating: Decent
Note: there are four tottering gorillas, not three. At 51, three read dark blue and one was light blue. This happened consistantly, and their spawn times after a quad seemed staggered.

Edit -- I've only managed to spawn the undead tainted (five times, I'm on my third day) and not yet the live version. I've spawned the tainted three times root-dot-rotting, and twice by quadding.

I've had a similar experience. Using Bonds of Tunare and Fist of Karana, I rounded up and killed all three totterings at the same time. When they spawned back in, I had 2 totterings and an undead tainted. Killed em all at the same time again and next round...got 3 more totterings. Kept trying, same deal...3 more totterings each time. This went on for a couple of hours and I finally called it quits for the night.

Did the same thing the next day, got an undead tainted after first clearing, then all tottering. After about an hour I finally got my "living" tainted and killed him and corrupted. I have no idea if I would have eventually gotten a tainted via root/dot - I suspect I would have, that every time a tottering can spawn, there is a tiny chance it will be a tainted. It's just by clearing them all at the same time, you get 3 chances for the next round to bring in what you want.

All and all, it is a very easy camp, if rather boring. A single round of Winged Death, Breath of Ro and Drones of Doom (from ES Vams) is generally enough to kill them individually, or you can use quading techniques and kill off all three with 4 casts of Fist of Karana.

By the way, the tainted and corruped were definately a bit tougher, so if you see the living tainted, make sure you plan accordingly - if getting low on mana when killing tainted, get him to 5% or so and med up to full for corrupted.

what is it supposed to drop?
# Sep 27 2003 at 2:46 PM Rating: Decent
Ok whats the deal with this guy and the loot that is listed as drops? listed a numerous spells and what i got was some no-drop item, named... a patch of rooting gorilla skin.. or something of the like. I never hunt in EJ so I
was lost and was sitting at the top of the stair case( it was a large land mark and figured that it was an easy place to find for regulars in the EJ)when a gorilla started wailing on me... so i beat it down. I was pretty shocked to see a corrupet pop from it(like the one in Everfrost),pretty low on life for another melee battle so i started the old snare and fear trick, it dropped fast. and it dropped no spells as listed on the top of this page. I had my druid friend coming to port me out and knowing that the corrupted mammoth was for druids i told hom to loot the no-drop. dont know what its for scine its not listed, anyone else ever found one of those?
Amazing...
# Sep 02 2003 at 5:51 PM Rating: Decent
I went to EJ, headed to the NW Section...

When I arrived at the top of the stairs, the Tainted was up(Undead one).. Killed him, No Spawn of Corrupted.

I just Stood there!!! Boom!! the Tainted comes wandering by and attacks me, it is the live one...Very easy kill, just make sure ya got some mana left for the Corrupted!

I was there for 10 minutes.

Hope this helps ...

The trick
# Aug 15 2003 at 3:41 PM Rating: Decent
Looking for the Corrupted? Heres how I finally prodded him out. I had gone to the top of the staircase in the NW corner and started killing the tottering gorillas there. There are 3 and they respawn quick. After more time than I want to admit of kill one, med, then move on, I decided to try and get them all cleared off quick. As soon as I had all three dead at the same time, the Tainted spawned.
The totterings all looked dead, and then the tainted that spawned was a live gorilla. I killed the tainted, and the corrupted spawned. Easy fight, root dot etc etc.

Just get them all three cleared at the same time. Worked for me.
Good Luck

Feylin is exactly right! I followed his post and got the corrupted last night. I had a few adds so at the end I had 20% health & 5% mana. But I got the Corrupted!

the post on eqdruids hits this one dead on down to the loc, I never have any luck with getting the quick spawns on mobs, in fact if it is supose to take 1 hour to spawn it takes me 4 hours to get it to spawn. however this took maybe 20 mins. very easy to take down, root dot go on.

Easy Kill
# Jan 21 2003 at 1:24 PM Rating: Decent
This guy is a piece of cake. At level 48 (druid) I simply employed the old "root and rot" technique- I only had 20% mana when I encountered him.

Took about 5 minutes to take him down with this strategy, but I was able to sit by idley as he slowly perished. Looted the epic piece and was on my way.

I was able to get the tainted to spawn by killing the 3 tottering gorillas at the top of the stairs in the NW area of EJ.
It worked for me
# Oct 08 2002 at 5:37 AM Rating: Decent
This is just an observation, but I sat around and soloed the tottering for several hours. Then I decided to see what happened if I was able to wipe all 3 of them off the map with out having them respawn on me. As soon as I killed the last one, the tainted spawned. Of course I was out of mana, but thank goodness for C3, my free snare, and my free DoT earrings I was able to root, snare, and Dot till I was able to med enough full mana. Once I did this, I finished him off, and the Corrupted spawned. He was a breeze.

hmm .. k, went to hunt the lil corrupted gorilla .. and i decided to try this .. i'm lvl 55 atm and most of the tottering were light blue.. so i ran around and aggroed all 3 on the plateau and kept re-camoing as needed to not get unwanted trash on me .. usin ya basic quadding technique i snagged all 3 and dropped em together, on the second cycle (note i only been there like 20 minutes) live tainted popped..
k so I got my tree bark thingy.. went and tried it again . 2 more re-spawns later another tainted popped , was undead tho so i just killed em.. not sure if it's luck of the draw or a definite type of trigger.. feel free to try this, maybe we can get the coincedence flag off this technique..

Unfortunately this technique didnt work for me, and the three regular tottering gorillas spawned as usual.

Easily soloable for a 51 druid; I solo'ed him last night with my 42 druid. (Of course, I haven't *officially* started the epic yet, just giving hunting preference to epic mobs.) It wasn't trivial for me, ran me pretty much out of mana even with KEI, but hey I'm 42 and he conned red. He frequently (but not always) resisted my root spell; didn't resist anything from the Drones line of DoTs; did resist fire-based stuff until I dropped a Ro's Fiery Sundering on him.

As for spawn rates/patterns, I was pretty lucky, the tainted spawned on the first tottering gorilla I killed "upstairs" -- the west side of the zone, on top of the cliff. I was told by another druid that he only spawns up there, and the data matches the hypothesis.

They are located in the Northwest corner on the plateau in EJ. There are always 3 tottering gorillas up there, but as of late, they rarely spawn the tainted. Good luck.

This guy is soloable with lvl 55. Just killed him this morning and it was an easy battle. And the PH are tottering gorillas at the north plateau part. But only a non undead tainted gorilla will pop the corrupted
