As many times as I've participated in this event over the years, if some time passes between events, I tend to forget how to get to the fight scene. This isn't a zone you wanna get lost in. Most mobs don't SI but guaranteed you will run into some that do if you wander around aimlessly scratching your.... well, that thing ogres do so well.

This is from zone-in. If your guild is doing several of these raids back to back, you might want to evac back to zone-in, or run there, to follow these directions.

Zone in, open first door.
Turn right and open far right door. There could be a SI Temple Guard here.
Open door, turn right and open next door in front of a tube. 2 aggressive SI guards here. Hopefully your guildies have slaughtered these in passing.
Go up tube one level and exit EAST. There will be SI mobs up here, again your guild should have cleared the way, if you can't.
Head thru the door, SOUTH and then turn LEFT (EAST) then SOUTH to elevator tube to 3rd floor.
Up tube to 3rd floor, exit NORTH

Head north, watch out for traps. Head straight north, avoiding traps. They'll dot you with long-lasting damage spells. Need RGC to cure.
High Priest is straight ahead.

XTC is up here too... see my post there for easy peasy directions.

Tough SI mobs all over this floor. Your guild must have cleared first or you and group is capable of handling them. Or you're a rogue!

Never been here before, lvl 63 ranger is handling it ok. I walk through the ante chamber attract 2 mobs. I'm fighting them, and since I have a 238 pt damage shield. I run int the little hall right before the arch prist room. the ** entire** room of 8 mobs decends upon my bony woodelf ***. So if you are high enough they won't all aggro (I wasn't), if you aren't I think someone who can FD, and an ench will solve this. FD'er approaches door, grabs mobs and FD's. Ench picks odd and mez's mobs, rinse and repeat. Still very hairy.

I went after the High Priest of Ssraeshza for the first time ever today. I used an 85 magician,2200 aa, he parsed to about 951,131 hit points. Straight burn, the fight lasted about 200 seconds. There wasn't a chance for the other guys to heal him, he didn't drop anything nice of course: Sporecaller, Earring of Dissention, Belt of Mystical Protection, and miscellaneous spells. =(

Solo'd today (with help of healer merc) on my lvl 80 necro. Got cure poison clicky shoulders, and shaman click staff with the waist/arms item. Wasn't very difficult. But I completely agree. Get his life to a certain point, finish up the adds, then burn HP the rest of the way. Works like a charm, and I'll be doing it every time he is up until my alts get everything they want from him.
I don't know why but..

I was bored today and decided to whack some stuff in Ssra. Tip on this guy: Beat him to 12% without killing adds, kill adds, then kill him. Once at 10% or lower they adds will heal, and as stated here they respawn every 5 minutes, so killing them during the fight is moot.

Was also able to "solo" him as a Lv 85 Ench. Tanked HP and all adds while cleric merc healed- she stayed at FM the whole time. Just kept nuking him down although it was slow with all of those mobs beating on me. Had 32k hp/30k mana and most defensive AA done. Mostly did it for fun but was hoping for the Rogue dagger.

Anyhow, just about anyone should be able to kill him now with a merc. Happy hunting!

Tanked all the adds, burned HP mana pool down.
Killed HP then adds.

Soled tonight, fight took over 2 hrs, 80 pally, with hot pots, and bp from from ToB , killed adds at first and then DS'ed em down after Hp was at 50 , if not he will get healed by adds. adds took 5 mins or so to pop each time, dropped wrath, earring and shoulders and a few spells , not much to gain by this but besides saying I did ...

80 pally, 17.5k unbuffed 3800ac

Bst, shammy, druid. Druid tanked all 12 adds the whole fight in the little hallway DS was on so they started summoning, next time ill take it off. Bst tanked with shammy heals easily the whole time. Never saw a CH with them outta his room, reptile seemed to be enough healing for the druid to stay alive alone. Maybe 15-20 mins till it dropped, very easy fight now.

Duo is possible (someone for all the adds and someone to solo named), solo is a stretch due to the number of adds and the fact that they heal and respawn fast enough to be a pita.

Good way to twink alts and seek revenge on raid mobs from years past.

all the statts are buffed
the stun is avoidable by standing behind one of the pillars form his "house"
the only problem we had was keeping the adds clear when they spawn the immidiately begin casting Cheal on HP witch is verry verry anoying

how hard is this guy say compared to emp ..... we downed him tonight with 47 pretty clean fight 1st try and working on emp keys and i heard this guy is alot like emp so was just wondering
RE: how hard?
# Aug 18 2004 at 10:41 PM Rating: Decent
HP has been boosted recently. He is hitting harder and faster. Unslowable and rampage a lot harder then the emp.

With more adds to control (granted weaker then the emperor's body guards), all he needs now and a decent DD and more HP and he'll be tougher then the emp =P.

Getting to the High Priest is isn’t too bad, you just make a left instead of a right that you would usually take to go to the Arch Lich. You still need a key to get through the locked door. You want to setup in the Jail area just before the High Priest area. You can tell you are in the jail because there are no mobs and you see Captured Thought Horrors in jail cells. Here you can buff and go over strategy.

Ok, next step is to pull the two snakes guarding the entrance to the High Priest room. There are golems along the wall, but they have very small agro ranges. You should be able just walk down the center and pull the snakes. Kill them off. Ok so now you have the High Priest room, which sucks, there are a bunch of snakes in here. So let’s clear some stuff up, nothing can be charmed that we could see, we tried. The disciples can be banished. The Zels you want to mez, and the Priests you want to off tank. So our strategy was, we had a bunch of the tanks and mezzers, pretarget mobs with bind sight. We also created a crowd control group of a chanter/bard, shaman, cleric, and a couple tanks.

Then we had whichever tank we wanted to be the rampage tank on the High Priest hit the High Priest with an arrow, which agroed the whole room. The puller then ran back to the jail room, where everyone went to work. The mezzers mezzed the 4 Zel snakes. We had another group of people off tank and debuff the priests, but we did not kill them. Then we had the rest of the raid kill off the all the disciples. At this point the raid will split. The crowd control group will stay, keeping the Zels mezzed and off tanking but not really trying to kill the priests. Everyone else heads to the hall before the High Priest. One note, there is a nasty trap that needs to be disarmed in that hall. It will remove your clarity, so get someone to disarm it before moving the raid in there. The golems are probably still along the wall, just stay in the middle and you should be fine.

Ok so now enter the High Priest room and stay along the back wall. Have the main tank and the rampage tank start plunking arrows into the High Priest to set agro. It goes without saying, he is perma rooted. Then slowly have your complete heal chain move up to the High Priest. If you look at the picture above, he is in a sort of cage with pillars at the 4 corners. Have the chain move up behind the pillar to break line of sight. So you will be at 45 degree angles to the High Priest, with a pillar between you and it. This will save you from the AE that is a stun. Doesn’t really do damage, but the chain will get all screwed up if people get stunned.

You don’t have much time stuff respawns fast. Get the main tank going, and start the chain. Have a couple healers like druids or shaman keep the rampage tank alive, while the rest beat on the High Priest. He has a lot of HP’s. He isn’t very resistant to nukes, but can’t be slowed, and he will dispel himself. So just beat on him. Now the key part. Stuff will respawn. It will be the disciples. As soon as they pop, everyone but the main tank and rampage tank, break off and kill them. You can use banishment of shadows from necros and clerics, but the recast time is long, so best to just have everyone beat on them just in case, they die fast. After they are dead, reengage the High Priest.

The stun is annoying but won’t kill you. I was in a group with a bard and had magic resist and 500 and I resisted maybe only a couple of the AE’s so just plan on being stunned and just deal with it.

You should be able to drop him in a few minutes, you might get 2 or 3 rounds of respawn depending on how large your raid was. We had 32 I think, but can be done with less, we just had a lot of bots. The key is the group that is doing the crowd control, because as long as they can keep the 8 snakes under control in the jail, you are fine. If they lose control and a priest comes back to the High Priest room, it will suck, because the High Priest will get comped. Anyway, after he is dead, head back to the jail, and save the crowd control group. Then go back to the High Priest room, and hand out loot. Snakes will keep respawning, so don’t fall asleep, but it won’t be a big deal for you.

Good luck

to clarify, there are indeed 12 snakes guarding HP. the 4 zel's we kept mezed, the 4 priests were low-dmg tank CC'd, and necros banished the 4 disciples. we took care of all CC in the room before HP while the main raid handled the big snake.
RE: Updated Tactics
# Jun 22 2004 at 3:19 AM Rating: Decent
Great post. One thing to add. The disciples have very low MR and can be charmed by necros (or spare enchanters). With Tash or Malo, charm will last several minutes and they hit slow enough that they are easy to get back under control when they get loose. If you have four necros, they can charm the disciples and use them against High Priest in lieu of regular pets.

Who does he worship?
# Feb 12 2004 at 8:24 PM Rating: Decent
I Don't get it. Do the Shissar worship their Emporer Ssraeshza? Or this Rhag`Zadune? Any info from some loremasters would be appreciated.
RE: Who does he worship?
# Mar 09 2004 at 10:12 PM Rating: Decent
Though the Shissar were created by Cazic-Thule, I never saw much evidence that the were big into worshipping him or anyone else.

From what I've seen, the Shissar build temples to themselves. They beleive that they are gods themselves. And for that and other heresies, they were punished. Their empire on Norrath was destroyed and the majority of their race was killed. What remained fled to Luclin and built the temple there and made the Grey an airless wasteland to help with defense.
RE: Who does he worship?
# Mar 17 2004 at 10:12 PM Rating: Excellent
They were created by CT but the emp began to think of himself as a god and the snakes worshiped the emp.

That pissed off CT and he sent the green mist to kill them all. Thats Y they left Norrath and built the temple in the grey and created a vacuum to keep the mist out.

It is no longer possible to say for certain how many people it takes to take these mobs down because of the equipment variation from char to char and guild to guild.
This fight is good prep for the Emperor. HP is a relative wuss, but he has guards that must be engaged but not killed, like emperor, has some that must be mezzed, but not killed, like emperor.
I like 24 plus, if you tell me you have done it with half that number I will not disbelieve.
Only other thing, after doing Emperor a time or two should be a 30 to 40 min fight (from start of fast clear)to loot given out. Reminds me of Xanamech in POI.
Good luck and God bless. I pray I have offended no one.

The tactics of the encounter are about the same, in that you have 6-8 mobs that are mezzed or mez-tanked, but Emperor himself is significantly tougher than High Priest -- hits much harder, and many more hit points.

RE: ?
# Feb 15 2004 at 10:40 PM Rating: Default
We did him with 47 the other night. Was a preety clean fight .. a couple deaths here and there. We had around 3 or so groups that constantly killed adds while the others stayed on HP. Not that bad of a fight, the stun gets quite annoying after awhile though. I would NEVER attempt this guy with less then 24 people unless your time geared.

The High Priest has 8 "bodyguards", if you could call them that. All 8 of these mobs in the HP room, can be brought back to the jail room and charmed. The Third Disciple of Rhag, Fourth Disciple of Rhag, Fifth Disciple of Rhag, and the Sixth Disciple of Rhag, can all be charmed by a Necro. Zel'Krioz, Zel'Rekushoz, Zel'Zachum, and Zel'Zoszh can all be charmed by an Enchanter. You should also keep a healer, like a Shaman in there just in case something goes wrong. After HP is disposed of, the Necros can use a spell called "Banishment of Shadows" on their charmed pets, but the Enchanters need the raid force to come and kill theirs.
