Known spawn locations (click for map image -- PH "a gehein fleshcutter") for your "ethernere.txt" map file (note for all known Ethernere Tainted West Karana named spawn locations, see this quest entry):

  • P 584.4876, 3302.0679, -530.4231, 127, 0, 0, 1, Gelden

Every 45 seconds, Gelden spawns two adds (immune to mez/root/snare). He appears to significantly regenerate each time the adds spawn, perhaps requiring very high DPS to kill him.

Gelden has ~7.4 million hitpoints.

I'd tried him unsuccessfully at 105 and came back at 110.
That heal he gets is a real pain, so I gave up and came back fully self buffed with everything clicked.
This time he went down before the adds had a chance to spawn.

Actually a bit of a challenge. Had nec pet tanking and 2 merc healing. Stacked a full rotation of raid dots on it and hit the burns when adds depoped. That was enough dps to kill him before next adds.

Any grp will have np these days tho.

The Way to handle Gelden

Tirsada D`Spite, the best Shadowknight who has ever been, developed the proper strategy for Gelden tonight.

What she deduced, on looking through the logs, was that Gelden's adds do no heal, per se, but he does a lifetap (large lifetap whose value I don't remember). So when we first engaged (I'm a Mage) I DPS'd on an average basis until the adds popped. It is 36 s from the time his adds pop until he does his life tap. During that time, she took the adds to max range, and I threw the book at him with VTalon and all the rest (you know what I mean if you're a Mage) and got him to around 3 percent. After that, a few more nukes, and he was dead.

Short answer: Bring lots of DPS. It is possible the adds are perma-rooted to his location. Has anyone had the adds run to the group?

He spawns adds, appears to be possibly on an interval, certainly the FIRST spawn time is a bit up for grabs. Pretty sure good DPS can drop him before spawns (we're about 150K DPS with pet clickies running and almost did it before healers spawned).

Try #1: underpowered group. healer merc went OOM, we aborted, reset and brought back DPS.

Kill #1: He spawned adds with 10% health remaining.

Kill #2: He spawned adds very soon, 90% health. My impression is he probably spawns them no quicker than 45 secs but the first may be variable, we'd barely engaged him.

Killed him today and we put 140k dps into him. The adds spawned at exactly 1% and could not heal him before he died.

I tried him yesterday about 6-7 times. My group was 100 Paladin, 100 Ranger, 100 Mage, 100 Necro, 98 Shaman and Merc Cleric.

He spawns 2 adds at about 45 Second intervals. they eventually depop. They can NOT me mezzed and immune to runspeed.

Geldan can be taken down but when the adds pop up he regens to 68 percent health.

We called for backup and got a 100 Enchanter and another 100 Necro and a 96 Warrior.

We 2 grouped him with added Mercs (Clerics and Wizzies) we got him to 22 percent but regened to 68 percent everytime.

I THINK he can be taken out with some serious firepower but it would have to be VERY quick before the adds can pop.

And that's where mercs let you down...

I killed him on my 6-box crew: 2 x mage, 2 x wiz, bard, shaman.

Died in 19 seconds according to Gamparse...wiz mercs won't let you burn the way a real character will - even a boxed one.

this mob is tough. pops two adds frequently, seems to heal himself while they're up or something
