# Jun 15 2008 at 11:30 PM Rating: Decent
I found this thing in Gustav tunnel.. read all about it.. so i decided to give it a shot solo as RDM/NIN

pretty easy fight, got it down to 58% then i gravity the wrong mob... a gob.. i died...
like 1:40 hrs of solo wasted...

i was about to HP but whm raised me so bleh bleh ill give it another shot..

killed it in like 3 hours..

Amikiri resist gravity a lot.. but Bind does stick well..
only got 300 xp, 12k, kamewari and no V. claw

GL to all

------------- Got him again
went back the other day and found him unclaimed again! easiest fight ever cause i got the trick now ^^ fight took 1 hour and 22 mins

I've solo'd poor Amikiri lots of times and have gotten the V.Claw to drop and have also seen the Kamewari not drop. I always throught the GKT was 100% but I guess not. Here are some SS's of each. The V.Claw dropped on July 19, 2007 and the non GKT drop was on May 26, 2007

V.claw 0/30

I have killed Amikiri 30 times without V claw drop, the kills been made inside
June 2007 - July 2008, so far seems that Amikiri no longer drops V claw, since i had friends with TH3 several times. Tyrannic Tunnok (Ifrit's Cauldron) said to drop V claw also, im 0/24 on this one, including TH3.
Either SE removed thease drops because RDM/NIN its easy soloable like i did, it would make sense, or then this is very rare drop.
Amikiri:(Kamewari 30/30) Tyrannic Tunnok: (Lohar 24/24)
(I Just saw picture Tyrannic Tunnok dropping V claw, i have no idea if thats a fake old picture with new thread, or then this is seriously like 1-3% drop rate)

EDIT 19. july, amounts of killed nms updated from 14 to 30

Took this guy down with 3: Blu/nin(me), Smn/whm and Blm/whm. Fight went well, but took about an hour and a half, due to a few unfortunate deaths from gravity (mysterious light) resists. Used the good old nuke then zone method, while the smn kited it around. It hits hard, but its accuracy isn't great, so I believe a nin tank would be ideal. Also, has additional effect: poison that does about 30 per tick. It seems to have high physical defense and hp, seeing as my disseverments would do around 150 damage, with 6 skill merits and 4 physical potency. I had to resort to using frost breath, heat breath and mysterious light to deal my share of damage, so magic is definatley the way to go on this one. Got the Gktn for my sam, but no v-claw drop. Thanks to Chaosity, love ya ^^, and Ghosts for helping me out!

Amikiri (網切 or 網剪, "net cutter"), is a creature illustrated by Toriyama Sekien in his Gazu Hyakki Yakō. It is portrayed as a flying snake-like animal with a bird's head and claws like a lobster's. The amikiri is explained as a mischievous entity which cuts holes in mosquito nets hung up during summer nights. It may also be fond of damaging fishing nets and laundry hung out to dry.

Sounds like a boring existance, going around cutting holes in people's laundry. Get your friends together and put it out of its misery!

Kamewari
# Nov 27 2006 at 1:17 AM Rating: Decent
does the kamewari drop 100%? and what pt set up would be good to fight him? not that kiting/casting thing...lol im no rdm. and when you guys said to claim him with bind, then invis/sneak to the first map, does he still remain claimed for that long with that update that made mobs chase you for a shorter time period? i hope so hehe
the pull

easiest way to pull NIN at night in AF boots voke pulls upto cape zne pt claims after u zone simple as
easy prey
# Oct 25 2006 at 11:31 PM Rating: Decent
I got this guy about a week ago, and got the vclaw as my rdm/nin. It was a stupid simple fight, I pulled with bind and ran back to the bune area. once I saw the slow poke coming I hit him with gravity. My basic strategy is really simple , I wore my best enfee stuff which aint much but it worked. warlock taber, thanatos baslard, enfee torque , and an elite beret. my enfee merits gave me a total of 314 enfee. Well once I pulled I kept him with gravity most of the fight and an occaisional bind. Sticking bio on him alot and using some tier 2 spells when I had the mp. when mp was low i just kept bio II at him.

what makes him even easier to kite is the fact that the large rocks in gustav prevent him from swinging at u when u run around them. So when I couldnt cast gravity or bind. I simply ran around the rocks as if it were a car caught in the middle of a game of tag. The scorp cant hit u and u can buy any amount of time that u need. At any rate his tp moves were not an issue. the only one I saw was his one that increases his attack, sharp strike or something like that. But he only did that like 2 times. Realistically, just keep your distance from this guy and u will find that hes a joke for a good rdm to fight. Even with building magic resistance, He wont add up to much. That katana he drops has a very nice drop rate , vclaw is rare but possible.

i have managed to hold this ToD for a few days. i am now ready to try and claim for a solo attempt. i had dynamis tonight so i asked a my sky/hnmls to get a ToD if anyone was free. a friend volunteered and she arrived 30 mins before window and stayed the entire duration. nobody ever came down to claim or try to pop, not unusual, i rarely see ppl going after this HNM. she stayed till my dyna was over then i came down. i got to gustav about 90 mins after the window closed. since nobody ever came to kill the antares and nobody ever popped or claimed amikiri, can it still be popped outside of the window? or do i have to come back to the same ToD tomorrow night? im not sure what my next step is but i sure wanna try this fight. i claimed a few days ago to realize that i forgot gear, forgot RR item, didnt have updated macros. (had to play on desktop cause laptop had issues and macros were a few months old) i decided to zone at 80% cause i didnt really want to risk HP'ing just to see if i could solo amikiri without all my gear and macros etc. plz, any help on the ability to pop would be most appreciated.

Definatly drops the claw still. After maint i went there (75 bst) and soloed some antares, and eventually be popped. Decided what the hell and started throwing pugs at him. Now, this would be so tough.. except for the fact i have to do it in the undead room.

Anyway, 4-5 pugs later.. mr amikiri is 90% hp. Yay! this can be done, just gonna take a while. So i go, grab another pug come back.. hes lost aggro and hes 100% hp. ok.. /fume.. i throw a pug at him and go to grab another, fail charm.. yeah death. 2 nins, a whm and a rdm grab him.. i raise up and go watch, they wipe.

Amikiri goes 100% hp again.. so i call in friends, 20 mins later.. V claw =D So yeah.. he still drops :p 1/1

The fact that ppl solo or duo him doesn't bother me that much anymore but... how do you guys deal with the pull? it's not particularly safe, or a low lvl area. I'm 75sam now, but still want this GKT. Can someone PM me with good camping strategy, pretty plz?

I'm sorry, but didn't find a conlusive answer to my problem here at this thread, which is why i'm asking anyone for advices.

The pull can be a bit tricky sometimes. You'll probly want to kill the Typhoon Wyvern first, as it can complicate things by being sight aggro while everything else in there is sound aggro. Wait for the mobs to space out a bit to give you room to cast without aggro, and pull with Bind (I usually toss out Gravity as well for safty reasons). Immediately sneak and invis yourself (powders/oils are faster and more reliable here), and head back up to the first map(Bune area). He should remain claimed, and track you up there.

Once on the first map, he's very easy to kite around. Just use bind/nuke cycles, saving gravity for emergency use (he will build resistence to it, so try not to over use). Also, always try to remain at max casting distance to avoid his deadly TP attacks. If you manage your distance perfectly, he will only use Sharp Strike (attack boost TP move).

amikiri doesn't drop the venemous claw anymore, so only "real" reason anyone would want to kill it now would be for kamewari, or an earth crystal ;)

I've been camping him quite a bit lately on Cerberus server and know for a fact that he still drops v.claw (I'm 3/12 in the last month). ^^

These 2 pics were taken about 2 days apart:

Well our over anxious SAM buddy was dieing to camp this guy and get the GK. So a few of us:

Me 68 PLD
Machtaru 75 RDM/BLM
Lusha 75 WHM/SMN
Diabious 74 DRK/WAR
Agahnim 75 RNG/WAR
Elppis 70 SAM/WAR

Basically we were only ones camping in, killed place holders for 3 hours.. At this point most of us were frustrated because we felt this was a wild goose chase since the SAM never obtained a ToD (this mob is a 21-24 hour respawn if PH's are actively killed) I am guessing no one had been camping for awhile because after about the 2nd hour he popped. Well at this time everything we had killed respawned so we had to wipe all of that out again and start over. Now ffxi.cannotlinkto lists this mob as it can be taken down by 10 level 70-75 players.. It was not kidding by anymeans at all. We engaged I do my usual hate routine and lock hate on, now I knew I was a tad low but I had awesome backup. I have the best RDM and WHM on our server bar none. But Amikiri wasn't going to let this be his downfall, about 1 min into the fight he uses Deadly Scissors on me and clocks me for 1294 DMG with a Taco and proper buffs up. I am one shotted because my health is with food at max 1285 currently. At this point everyone's not going to risk all biting the dust so they chainspell+escape when the RDM's ES+Sleep DOES NOT STICK. We all sat and discussed this, Lusha and Machtaru both having battled Kirin several times compared the fighting style.. This mob is not soloable even by a RDM/NIN due to his powerful attacks, aoe shredding blinks and one shotting stoneskins. Since there is no safe zoning as well to kill the mob with DoT.. Believe you me, 10 level 70-75s will be able to take this down.

The melee's were hitting mostly for 0-6 with attack foods and the ranger who used the right distance formula was hitting for at most 30 dmg each connect.

Try Paradigm. Look at the date of the pic (2004), and also notice that Ratty, who quit long ago, didn't have his koenig yet.
