EQ:Veteran Rewards

Veteran rewards are a special way of rewarding long-time EverQuest subscribers. Accounts earn Veteran rewards based on the total amount of paid time they have accrued, and are given a special ability for each full year of paid time. Players have the ability to flag characters on their account to receive Veteran rewards; accounts will allow one character to be flagged for each full year of Veteran time earned on that account. Once flagged, that character will be able to use all current Veteran abilities associated with that account, and will also gain new abilities as they're unlocked on the account.

Earning Veteran Rewards

This program is based on the account and its EQ Game Pass time paid. This also includes Game Cards and the All Access Game Pass as long as you already owned EQ during this time. After your account has been paid for 1 full year you will receive your first reward for 1 character. Each subsequent year paid will allow new rewards as well as additional characters allowed to claim these rewards (you can flag 1 character for each year worth of Veteran time you have. So the maximum number of characters you can have flagged is equal to the number of Veteran Rewards you have!). The maximum Game Pass you can purchase is 2 years. Please note however, that although you can purchase a 1 or 2 year Game Pass, that Veteran Rewards granted in-game will only become available at the point at which your account has actually been active for that amount of time; you will not receive Veteran Rewards in advance by purchasing one of these Game Passes.

Checking Your Account's Entitled Time

You can check in game and find a close approximation your account's entitled time by typing /play. The amount is rounded in years and a fraction thereof. Please note, however, that this total includes the free trial time which does not add to rewards. This total will therefore usually be slightly higher than your actual Veteran time credited and at times may appear to be frozen due to this rounding. Also note that breaks in Game Pass do not count to the total time entitled.

The only Game Pass plan that shows in-game entitled time in advance is the yearly versions, although this does not affect the actual rate at which you will gain your Veteran Rewards. This displays your in game entitlement time in a "lump sum", showing the time you have already paid for. If applicable you will not see your time change again until your Game Pass is renewed. All other plans only show time in monthly increments.

These rewards are only updated once per month generally in the first week only, the exact date varies by account and recent payments may take several weeks to be applied to your total time entitled. Allow the system time to update.

Claiming Veteran Rewards

Before flagging any characters, here are some important things to be aware of:

  • GMs are not able to clear these flags once they're assigned to a character, so you should be absolutely certain you're claiming them on the correct character, and wish to keep them, as we cannot remove or transfer this flag between characters.
  • Deleting a character that has claimed Veteran rewards will not allow you to reuse that character's Veteran flag on a new character. These flags remain consumed even when the character that claimed them is deleted or transferred.
  • Although your character is flagged to receive Veteran rewards, the rewards are technically tied to your account—not your character. So, if you transfer your character to a different account, your character retains their flag and will be automatically able to receive whatever Veteran rewards that are on that account. It's important to be aware, however, that the limit of numbers of flags per account remain in effect, so if you moved a vet-flagged character to an account with 1 Veteran reward, for example, and that account already had another character with the flag, the system will allow only 1 of those characters access to Veteran Rewards. In this case, the other character will automatically gain the ability when the account gains additional Veteran rewards.
  • You may flag 1 character to receive Veteran rewards per each full year of entitled time on your account. This means that if you have 1 year of entitlement, you can only have 1 character with Veteran rewards, until your account has gained its second full year of paid time, at which point you can then flag one additional character for Veteran rewards.
  • Once flagged for Veteran rewards, a character will have access to all Veteran rewards on that account, including any new Veteran rewards that the account earns. There's no need to reflag a character.
To flag a character for Veteran rewards, you must have at least one unclaimed Veteran reward flag on your account. Simply log on to the character you wish to flag for Veteran rewards and type /veteran. When the confirmation window opens, click "Yes", to complete the process and flag your character!
