Nagrand was once the homeland of the orcish Frostwolf clan and is the ancestral meeting grounds for the orcish people. In fact, twice a year the Kosh'harg celebrations were once held here where the respective orcish clans would gather at the base of the sacred mountain of Oshu'gun to give thanks to the spirits. The name Nagrand stems from the orcish, which means "Land of Winds".

Currently, there are only two specific locations with flightmasters in this zone. For Alliance players, they can use the outpost at Telaar, while Horde players use the city of Garadar.
There are two "world PvP" options in this zone, although one is not technically classified as such. These are the plateau city of Halaa and the Ring of Trials Arena/
Dead center in Nagrand is the plateau containing the city of Halaa and its resources. There are constant struggles between Alliance and Horde players for control of the city and when one side controls it, the other side has use of wyvern roosts near the four rope bridges. These roosts contains crates of bombs that players may use to assault guards, vendors and enemy players in range of the fixed flight paths over the city. There are a total of 15 guards available in the city when it's controlled by one side or the other and when these have been killed, the invading faction may then claim Halaa as their own. To do this, the invaders must land and protect the flag in the center of town.
