High atop the boughs of the great tree Teldrassil lies the wondrous city of Darnassus, the new refuge of the reclusive Night Elves. The high priestess, Tyrande Whisperwind, resides in the Temple of the Moon, which is flanked by the colonnaded Hall of Justice, surrounded by other sisters of Elune. In the Cenarion Enclave, the Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm leads the Cenarion Circle, often in direct opposition to his fellow druids in Moonglade and Tyrande herself.

Druids, Hunters, and Warriors alike make their homes among the rows of woodcrafted lodges and delicately tended groves. The Temple of the Moon rises like a shining beacon above the trees where the vigilant Sentinels gather to safeguard the land.

A city attuned to the ebb and flow of nature, Darnassus sits along the shores of a large lake, elegant bridges criss-crossing the crystalline waters. Throughout the city, falling leaves of the forest carpet the soft pathways of the city, providing a feeling of safety and solitude for all.

The atmosphere in the city does not have the feeling of confinement that one tends to feel in either Stormwind City or the City of Ironforge and it is open to the elements, lending to its feeling of openness and grace in motion. The population is lower than that of the other major cities due to its remoteness from the rest of Kalimdor - Teldrassil is a tiny island off the main continent and the only way to gain access from another continent is to fly or sail to Rut'theran village, more of an outpost than a town proper, and from there traverse the glowing portal to the main city.

Darnassus is a unique city, arranged in circular terraces on the north, east and southern sides of the central lake. Each of the normal amenties, such as banks, inns and the like are found scattered around these terraces.

• Auction House - found on the Tradesman Terrace.
• The Bough of the Eternals - the location of the bank in Darnassus. It can be found on the central island of the Temple Gardens.
• Cenarion Enclave - Archdruid Fandral Staghelm is located here.
• Craftsmen's Terrace - The Inn can be found here.
• The Forge is located in the Warrior's Terrace (location 58, 46) - It is right next to the Weapons Master, Ilyenia Moonfire.
• The Inn is located at the Craftsmen's Terrace (above). It is the second most eastern big building in the terrace.
• Mailboxes - There are two. One can be found just outside the bank and the other is right by the Inn (see above).
• Portal to Rut'theran Village - This tent is found to the west of the bank.
• The Temple Gardens
• The Temple of the Moon - home to the Sisters of Elune. This is where Tyrande Whisperwind is located.
• Tradesmen's Terrace
• Warrior's Terrace

Flight Paths

Unlike other Alliance cities, there is not a flight path directly to Darnassus. Rather, there is a portal from Rut'theran village that allows access to and from the city and has flight pathing there.
