Your axe was not gold, nor silver. It is the iron axe which fell into the water. The Axe is Stuck in a Tree in Daru Spring. The tree is very close to the lake. Once Used it might take a while for the axe to respawn. But it's always the same tree.Answer honestly and receive all three axes. Remember you came for the iron axe...

The Gold Axe (PW/AA) is a very nice mace-type weapon.
