We will be conducting a PlayOnline Viewer version update accompanied by server maintenance at the following date and time. Thank you for your patience. *The client software will also be updated at this time. The version update process will automatically begin when you login to PlayOnline. Please follow the instructions that appear on your screen. [Affected Period] Sep. 13, 2004 from 10:00 to 13:00 (PDT) *Maintenance completion time may be subject to change. [Affected Services] PlayOnline [Important Update Details] - The new PlayOnline main menu has been implemented. Information will now be continually updated without the need for version updates (See "Related Information" for details). - A window will appear when "Install" is selected from the login menu, allowing users to select the PlayOnline-compatible title they want to install. This window will appear only when multiple PlayOnline-compatible titles are present on one disc. This feature will apply to all titles released after (and including) FINAL FANTASY XI: Chains of Promathia (release date: September 21, 2004). - The following modifications have been made to prepare for the commencement of PlayOnline service in Europe (scheduled for September 16th, 2004). - European and Oceania regions have been added to the "Location" field in the Handle Profile screen. - "French" and "German" have been added to the "Language" field in the PlayOnline Chat "Create Room" menu. - A new chat zone for Front Mission Online has been added. - Handle profiles can now reflect area names in FINAL FANTASY XI: Chains of Promathia. - A shortcut to the PlayOnline Viewer has been added to the PlayOnline Viewer Config panel (Windows version only). - A new feature has been added to windowed mode that allows users to reduce the size of the PlayOnline Viewer window. Double-clicking the title bar or the window's frame will return the window to its default size (Windows version only). - Fixed an issue in File Manager where files were not properly sorted when sorted by name. - Fixed an issue in PlayOnline Mail where names of attachment files did not display properly when Japanese input was used. - Fixed an issue in PlayOnline Mail where certain characters did not display properly in attachment (text) files. - Fixed various other minor issues. [Note] This version update will affect the "pol.exe" file, which may require you to adjust the settings of your security software. Please refer to your security software's manual to confirm what adjustments need to be made (Windows version only).

I think the new interface is cool, but I don't know if anyother ps2 ppl noticed around the afternoon of the 14th of sept that it kinda took awhile for the menu to load now is it just me or is everyone having the same problem <ps2 ppl>

I just joined the site today, very extensive and informative! I just had to mention that, but really though, I have a SERIOUS problem with the PlayOnline Viewer (PC) of late. I downloaded yesterday's update to the Viewer with all the "newfangled features" for Chains of Promathia.

Ever since then, I get the error message "A required PlayOnline Viewer file is missing. Please reinstall the PlayOnline Viewer.", everytime I try to log on. I've reinstalled and reupdated forever and I get the same error loop! What the hell?! Is anyone else getting the same thing?

your getting errors because of all the 56K'ers trying to D/l this big @$$ update .. I'm on T3 and i get the error to so it's the, server thats **** up.. not us =) think about it if u have over 100,000 ppl trying to d/l a files off your computer at once would it not make it slow down ? (yes) (ps and they have more than One computer thats giving out this update.)

i'm d/ling the update right now, but it seems like it's going slow as hell...time remaining is 1:10...thats one hour and 10 min...is anyone else d/ling it right now? and if so, is it going this slow for you?

Yep i keep getting into the main menu area it loads all my messages and friend list..ect then that little "Loading Sign" comes up at the bottum and i get that same error everyone else gets...BLAST PLAYONLINE

I downloaded their frickin update and now i can't log on. God i am pissed. So let's see: Chance of me killing something 10% chance of me kicking my computer 30% chance of me falling off my chair 40% chance of me going on a brutal slaughterfest when i finally log on 1000%.

what the hell is going!!!!! i was downloading the lastest version and an error come!!! why they do always the maintenance in the midday!!! i think they have to alternate with japan time, not only them to sleep on the maintenance X( we wait 7hour now and not retablish.... plz do it fast!!!!

Now at 5:42, it gets me to my wallpaper on my POL account, and does the "retrieving messages from server" and finishes those bars, but leaves a now loading message in the bottom right and doesnt proceed to my navigator, 2 people on my friend's list are logged on, so its probably working but it just wont let me on. stupid thing -_-

The 1404 Files are the prep work for the Expansion Pack. Some of the updates affect people whether or not they purchase CoP for a while, e.g. additional damage Dragoons and Summoners can now inflict and the *cough* tweaking of blink tanks. Those don't require the expansion, but your version needs new files to use 'em.

The service time has been extended to 14:00 PST (2:00) or 17:00 EST (5:00)
