Sixty Laid Off at Carbine

The developer is now focusing on different games / markets.

Things aren't the brightest over at Carbine Studios, the developer for WildStar. The rumor going through the pipeline is that at least sixty employees have been cut from the development team, and it's not pretty. An unnamed source advised us that some employees that had been on staff for eight years have been cut, and not just in entry-level departments; the entire path team is no longer staffed and huge percentages of the art and design teams are gone.

This begs the question of what the future of Wildstar and Carbine Studios may see; Carbine has mentioned it will stick to its core circle of MMO games, but seeks to branch out into the mobile market as well. We'll keep an eye on developments.

They tried. Failing hard. They wanted hard core, now they just get to fall hard. Sucks for the people losing jobs.
