OUYA Sells $60/Year All-Access

Sold out on day 1, these perplexing passes are already gone. What were they?

It's simple: pay $60 a year, and play everything on OUYA at any time. Easy! The difficult question is: what will you play? Perhaps the game ranked #2 by OUYA's "O-Rank", Amazing Frog? The Swindon Space Program? Let's, uh...take a good look:

"In space no one can hear you fart…unless you’re a frog.
You can still hear farts if you’re a frog."

$60 for access to 800+ games sounds like a great deal, until you actually browse the games. Looking around, it still feels like the OUYA is an inside joke that nobody's in on. The catalogue is filled with games that look like failed Nintendo 64 titles (or successful flash games). Their offer of "800+ games!" is reminiscient of the ubiquitous "SuperTurbo 100-in-1 Xtreme Gamepak!" at flea markets everywhere.

Now, I sincerely expect there are good OUYA exclusives, and that the $60 All-Access pass is a dream-come-true for the right gamers. Even further, one would only need to play an hour a week to get decent value from the annual $60 pass. The problem is that most thrifty gamers will get a lot more value out of $60 spent elsewhere. A few good games beats an avalanche of absurdity.

Ultimately, this brief error on their website sums it all up:
