Video Game Art Auction

Signed Guild Wars 2 and other game art to help charity

It should come as no surprise that I'm a big fan video games. Not just playing them or writing about them, but also everything that goes into their design and development. One of my favorite things is concept art. These pieces are often quite amazing and stand on their own as fine art that looks awesome displayed as part of my home decor. I'm positive my wife would agree.

So, I'm aways on the lookout for opportunities to get my hands on cool video game concept art. One such opportunity just presented itself, and it's all for a good cause.

The London Games Festival is holding an auction for a number of pieces of original video game concept art. Each piece is signed by the artist, and all proceeds from the auction go directly to helping SpecialEffect, a UK-based charity dedicated to helping people with disabilities enjoy video games.

Of particular interest to those of us here at ZAM are several select pieces from Guild Wars 2, six in total, created and signed by ArenaNet's Daniel Dociu. In addition to the Guild Wars 2 art, there are also some nifty pieces from other games such as the Fable series and Batman Arkham City.

While many of the auctions are already underway, the Guild Wars 2 pieces are yet to begin, which means there's still time to get in on the action! Three of the pieces go on the block beginning November 26, and another three on December 4th.

So head on over and feel free to get in on the action, while helping out a good cause all at the same time. But I beg you - please don't bid against me!
