AVOID THIS GAME!

This game is straight out bad (so far, it is still beta).

It has TONS of bugs that just simply destroys the game for you. An example of this would be that the game does not update the amount of Tylium you have.(If this bug happen, you won't be able to undo it)
This will prevent you from jumping to another sector... What this means is that you will be stuck in the same low (or high) lvl sector until they fix the bug!

...And so far they haven't done that.

Avoid this game! It will haunt you down and eat your soul!

Good video. That about sums up BGO. I've been playing it for a little while now and it's not too bad. I agree that it seems to be missing some key components to MMO design which makes the whole game feel a bit smaller. Things like no crafting system and all the outposts/bases being personal instances with no other players. In that sense, I tend to think of it more as a PvP space fighter rather than a MMO. If all you want to do is blow up other people in space ships, this could work. For anything else though, not so much. I will say though that the large scale PvP fleet battles are just plain fun.

One problem that I do see is that the overwhelming majority of players are Colonials. This makes playing a Cylon (especially a low level one) very rough sometimes. As a Cylon, I'm generally stuck to playing around in the systems nearest to the Cylon home base while the Meatba-err humans have the run of the quadrant. This makes leveling up a bit of a chore. I can't really get mad at the Colonials for playing the game the way it was intended, it's just a bit demoralizing opening up the sector map and seeing The Blue Wall all the time. I noticed you were playing a Cylon and your sector map had The Blue Wall as well.

One thing though about the death penalty. Technically there is one, but I'm not sure what impact it has on gameplay yet. Every time you die, your ship and any equipped weapons/systems take durability damage. To repair it, you can go to any base/outpost and talk to the NPC there. You will see a repair option with a small wrench icon next to it. Repairs need either Titanium or Cubits to repair. I use Cubits since the cost for using them is dirt cheap. Usually around 80 or so Cubits to fix my hull at 70%. The problem is that I don't see any detrimental effects for having lower durability. I haven't gotten to 0% yet so maybe systems shut down or something, but keeping things repaired is easy. It might be more expensive on the larger ships though.

As far as being browser based, this is my first time playing a browser based MMO. So far I see a few pros and cons to it.

Pros:
-Doesn't take up any room on HDD.
-Don't really have to worry about alt+tab since your browser is up anyways.
-Has a fullscreen option, so it doesn't really feel like your playing in your browser at times.

Cons:
-Limited keybinding options. One of the devs said on the forums they can't do things like tab targeting or rebinding the ESC key since it has a standard browser function.
-Limited graphics/video options. The graphics aren't bad, but it only has one tiny slide bar for setting your video quality.
-If your browser has an error or shuts down, well, so does your game. Bummer.

I suppose my opinion on browser games would be "Meh". I don't hate it, but I can't say I really like it either.

Anyways, for anyone else thinking of playing this game: Roll Cylon. We need more pilots, even if we do all look the same. >.>;
