How to Win
We have a thread in the General WoW forums for the contest entries. All you have to do is post a response in the thread that states what you’re the most excited about in the new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion. For example:

  • Playing as a Worgen.
  • All the new changes to old Azeroth. I can’t wait to see what it looks like!
  • The new talent changes. My class is going to be OP. QQ moar newbs.

We’ll be collecting entries for the next seven days, and on Monday August 2nd, 2010, we’ll be announcing all fifty winners of the giveaway and we’ll then send you your beta key for Cataclysm! It really is that simple. Just submit the part of Cataclysm you’re most excited about, and you're golden!

Please Note: You must enter your contest submission at the designated forum thread. Any comments on this article will not be counted as submissions.

Additional Note: Both Tankspot and Wowhead will be having their own beta key giveaways in the next few weeks, so make sure you check out our entire network family for all of your chances to win!

++ If you're an AddOn author WoWInterface has almost an unlimited number of keys to give away.

Rules and Qualifications

  • In order to use the beta key, you must have a WoW account in good standing.
  • Posts in the contest thread that are not contest submissions will be deleted.
  • Users may enter more than one Cataclysm item that they’re excited about, but only one entry will be counted per user.

I'm extremely excited to try out the classes who are receiving resource overhauls, paladin holy power, the new warlock soulshards, the changes to balance druids via lunar and solar power, and finally hunters and their switch from mana to focus.

As well I'm very interested to see how the stance blizzard has taken on making epics feel "epic" again plays out, much more emphasis on blue gear until you've earned your epics should take away a lot of this "catering to casuals" philosophy a lot of more hardcore players feel blizzard has adopted.

The new talent and mastery system also interests me a lot, I love this new idea of choosing a specialization before spending your talent points, and locking you into your specialization until you've spent enough points in your given tree. I feel this will give newer players and old players a like, a more epic, and focused feel to the game, being a fury warrior doesn't really feel like much when all you got before was 5% crit, some AP from armor, and further range and duration on your shouts for the first 30 levels.

Last, but most definitely not least, I'm stoked to see the new races leveling content. From what I've seen the scripted story line of the Worgen leveling zone is incredibly well done, and has had a lot of work put into it. I've always loved when blizzard gets the storytelling aspect of this game spot on, like with the Wrathgate, and Lich King cinematics and pretext. Also the Goblin starting zone, with its interesting use of game mechanics, and much more "open world" style of quest direction, a long with an early introduction to assisted modes of transportation via the rocket car, should prove to be interesting when starting a new character.

In closing I'd like to say that with 9 80's, all in somewhat respectable gear, I've gotten somewhat bored waiting for the expansion, and a beta key would most deffinitly be put to good use in my hands. I have an extensive knowledge of all classes in PvE and PvP and would absolutely love an opportunity to test out the new exciting changes to the game, and contribute my own feedback in yet another world of warcraft beta. I've been playing for 6 years now, day one, and feel I have a pretty solid opinion on the game, and that I could contribute a lot to the beta.

Either way, thank's a lot, Fancyhats - Illidan.
