New Spell Will Lower Dodge Chance 20% in Icecrown

Daelo just announced on the official forums that a spell called Chill of the Throne will be in effect for all enemies in Icecrown Citadel that "will allow creatures to ignore 20% of the dodge chance of their melee targets."

Why would Blizzard do this? Basically, it looks like tank avoidance has grown so high that a hard-hitting melee boss can take down a raid tank in a couple hits if the blows aren't avoided. Chill of the Throne will give the dev team "a bit of breathing room" while they look at ways to keep tank avoidance from growing so high in the future. Presumably, the overall damage will be reduced to compensate — meaning the damage will be similar overall, but less spiky.

Just to be clear about what the spell does, I'll use Daelo's example: "if a raid's main tank had 30% dodge normally, in Icecrown Citadel they will effectively have 10%." Chill of the Throne should be up on the PTR soon so you can check out the effects. What are your preliminary thoughts on the spell?

As a pure warrior tank with 550 def, 24% dodge, 19% parry, and 21% block, I do believe this is still a bit excessive. Here is a better idea...instead of nerfing everyone's dodge (remember, it WILL affect rogues' dodge as well - making them totally ineffective in ICC and other instances), how about instead removing the previous dodge and parry nerfs and instead nerfing the abilities of classes who you don't need to tank? While I understand the need for this given DKs and Druids using super dodge to currently tank, I don't understand why it has to be 20%. Why not instead remove their ability to properly tank and instead improve their dpsing? Finally, if you reduce the damage multipliers for massive hits, you remove the enemy's element of shock and surprise to those players who NEED to learn how to fight a raid or instance boss properly.
I have seen a bunch of silver spoon T9 geared kids think they own the world with their awesome gear, even though they don't know how to use the proper rotation and/or strategy on a boss because they have worked the entire system to their advantage. Please don't punish those of us who follow the proper talent combos. Instead, find out where the real problems are and fix them. Thank you.

While I do think the debuff is excessive and rather lazy on the part of the devs, I don't feel forcing raids to use one class as the only viable tank is a proper alternative.
